Rebuttal Against Mikayla B.

Mikayla, you have many good points in your argument however, I still disagree that trick-or-treating should end in high school. One reason is that not all high schoolers do the right thing. Another argument is that adults just want there to be enough candy for the younger kids to have some. My last reason is that even if older siblings take their younger sibling trick-or-treating, it doesn’t mean that they have to get candy too; chances are that they have money to buy candy for themselves.
My first reason is that not all high schoolers do the right thing. A lot of times teenagers start out having innocent fun when suddenly it turns into them not doing the right thing. In your argument you say “kids have the right to have fun its not illegal for them to trick-or treat yet so take advantage of that right by having fun and not egging or toilet papering someone’s house”. This argument is invalid because even though there are some teenagers that can have fun without being a bad example, the majority of teenagers cannot. That is why they shouldn’t be trick-or-treating. Also, on Halloween adults just want to make sure that there will be enough candy for all the littler kids to have some. Teenagers have big hands, so they can get way more candy at a house than a little kid can. If teenagers get candy from houses, soon all of it will be gone and all the children won’t get to have any candy.
Another argument is that just because teenagers take their younger siblings trick-or-treating, it doesn’t mean that they have to get candy too. This relates back to my second reason because teenagers have much larger hands than littler kids do. If a high schooler is really that desperate for some candy, they sell candy at any store for like a dollar. So why take away from littler children when you could just go out and buy some candy ? Most teenagers have jobs, and if they choose to spend their money on buying candy, that is their decision. However they don’t have to take the fun away from children who aren’t as able to just go out and buy candy any time they wish.
High schoolers should not be trick-or-treating. My first reason is that not all high schoolers do the right thing. My second reason is that adults just want to make sure that there will be enough candy for every kid to have some. Lastly, If high schoolers want candy that bad, why don’t they just drive to the store and buy some ? You make some excellent points in your argument but because of those reasons, teenagers in high school should not be trick-or-treating.
Boom-shakalaka.
