i still celebrate halloween and i still go trick or treating, but if i had to choose an age kids should stop trick or treating would be around the end of middle school. my first reason why kids should stop around the end of middle school is because teens start to develop this sort of sick and twisted sense of humor. Just last week i saw a high schooler jump out of some bushes and scared a 4 year old. like i was saying, teens will dress up as something so scary that they will scare kids into not wanting to go trick or treating. Why would you want to scare kids, they are adorable in their costumes and they just want to have some candy. My second reason is that a 15 year old can just go out and buy their own candy, not go trick or treating for candy you can find anywhere in fred meyers. plus teens have bigger hands than little kids and thats not very fair to the kids that wait all year to get free candy. these 4 to 5 years olds are looking forward to eating candy and having a good time. My last reason is if kids want to dress up as fairy princesses or ninjas, teens judge their costumes. I think that it is very rude and teens shouldn’t tell kids to look up to them because if a child looks up to a teen they might dress in VERY inappropriate costume on halloween. Plus i know that teens cuss even in front of kids and if a kid listens to a teen they can get ideas about what they say and that is not okay. kids might start cussing on halloween. if they walk up to a house and starts cussing it makes everyone very upset. like i said I still celebrate halloween and still go trick or treating but there is an age to stop and i think its around the age of 14 or 15.

At the end of 8th grade I think that you should stop trick-or-treating. This is one of my beliefs because the older you get the more inappropriate your costume gets. And older teens tend to scare the younger kids.
When your young trick-or-treating is all about the candy and funny costume you have, yet when you're a teen its all about how inappropriate you can get or how bad you can scare the little kids. I think at the end of 8th grade you should stop because you don't need to be taking candy from houses and not letting the young kids have any. If you were smart you would go buy your own candy.
Another problem i have is why would the parents let their teen dress so inappropriate. Why couldn’t the teen be handing out the candy instead of taking it. Plus teens have bigger hands so they can take more portions of the the cady, then the younger kids will have none to eat. Also the older you get your maturity level gets higher. Although, teens thinks it’s cool or funny to wear inappropriate costumes or scare 6 year old kids.
Even though tick-or-treating is fun teens should stop at the end of 8th grade,at 14 years old. Why spend your money on some costume that you're only going to wear for a couple of hours. Why not spend it on something cool that you will use . I mean yeah everyone wants candy, but sometimes you have to share.
To sum it all up I do think teen should stop trick-or-treating at the end of 8th grade, 14 years old. These are some of my thoughts that I have for when to stop trick-or-treating. There is a time and a place to stop trick-or-treating,why not now?
mackenzie, you made some good points but i think that kids who just get out of elementary school are still little. also, also, going to middle school is a BIG deal for kids around the age of around 11 or 12. They see halloween as a time where no one can pick on you for what you wear because its just 1 night of the year. Another reason is that when your say 12 you still have a “girly imagination” (depending on the kid) and you still dress up as a witch or a fairy princess. I dont think that kids are going to get any ideas except they want to dress up as an angel for the rest ofthier lives and that doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. I think that kids should be able to trick or treat until they get to about age 15. Lastly, I don’t think that a bunch of little 5th and 6th graders are going to t.p. peoples houses. for one they have small arms and secondly kids don’t care if one person wont give them candy, but they will start to get mad when the whole neighborhood will not give them candy.and third, I dont think that 5th and 6th graders have the guts to throw any rocks or use t.p.. They probably don’t have the guts to throw eggs. like i was saying I don’t think that 5th and 6th graders will have the nerve to get mad at one house for not giving them candy, and there is no way that a kid cant go find another neighborhood to go trick or treating.
