I think that you should stop trick-or-treating when you are 14 years old. Some reasons are after you are 14 you might want to scare little children, but before that you should not want to and be nice to the kids who trick-or-treat. Also after you are 14 you should have enough money to buy your own candy. Finally my last reason is that most kids have given up Santa, the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy and Halloween is all they have left.
After 14 you might want to scare little kids. I don’t know why you would, but some people might find enjoyment in it possibly. After 14 you might also start to where inappropriate costumes that make people angry and then they won’t give you candy. That is not any fun for anyone, so if you do trick-or-treat after 14 you should at least wear something kid friendly. That is my first reason why you should stop trick-or-treating when you are 14.
Next is once you're out of middle school you should have enough money to buy your own candy. Once you are out of middle school you should soon get a job and have money to buy candy. Also, after 14 the sign might say take one and you might take a lot more. That is my second reason on why you should stop trick-or-treating once you are 14.
My final example is that most kids have given up other holidays before 14. Some people say you should stop trick-or-treating once you are out of elementary school, but I totally disagree. Most kids have given up Santa, the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy and Halloween is all they have left. It is one of their last chances to dress up and have fun with your friends. that is why you should keep trick-or-treating until you are 14.
I think you should stop trick-or-treating once you are 14. Reasons for that are after 14 you might want to start scaring little kids. Another reason is once you are 14 you might have a job and you can buy your own candy. My final reason is soon after elementary school most kids have given up Santa, the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy and Halloween is all kids have left. Those are three reasons why you should stop trick-or-treating once you are 14.
I personally think that kids should stop trick-or-treating in the middle of junior high or the beginning of high school, if they wish. But some teens dress really grossly. Like flashy and creepy, please don’t do that. But some just dress up for fun because they are still a kid, personality wise.
One of my concerns is some kids need big siblings to bring them trick-or-treating so they can go. And the big siblings don’t have to dress up. But if you have to stop when your 14 then your 4 year-old brother or sister won’t be able to trick-or-treat anymore. That’s poop. So I think the beginning of high school, because usually little siblings are old enough to go by themselves. Well at least in the same neighborhood. But I totally think making a law that you can get fined for like in Belleville, Illinois is really stupid. It is just one night of your life people.
My other argument is that it’s ok to celebrate halloween as long as they don’t scare people. If teens scare little kids then that isn’t ok. If they don’t scare kids or just going un-costumed with their little brother or sister that it is perfect. And just buy your own candy from the store if you want a lot. Don’t don’t steal from kids! Please!
The final reason is that if you just want to have parties in college and dress up for them that is ok. Just don’t go trick-or-treating. Unless if you live on campus and there is a campus trick-or-treat event. Don’t go trick-or-treating in other neighborhoods. If you’re having a halloween party you can absolutely dress up but don’t ruin it for yourself.
So unless if it is a dress-up party, campus trick-or-treat event don’t trick-or-treating in neighborhoods. Buy your own candy, don’t steal from kids. Celebrate it by decorating but don’t scare kids. Take your siblings if you’re supposed to but don’t dress up if you’re over age.
Kids should stop trick-or-treating in 8th grade. This is because middle school age kids are at the point where they don't wear inappropriate costumes, they don't use fear to terrorize small children for amusement, and they still fully support the spirit of Halloween.
One reason is that kids in middle school still look forward to Halloween mainly for the fun and spirit of it. Halloween is the one thing that doesn't go away for middle schoolers, unlike the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, and (of course) Santa. Halloween is the one enjoyable holiday that we have left; so, we might as well enjoy it and have some fun while we still can.
My next reason is that kids in middle school (hopefully) won't be cruel to little kids just out of enjoyment, whereas high schoolers and older people will be tempted to. Halloween is a holiday for little kids to enjoy too, so why be tempted to ruin that for them? I remember that as a little girl walking the streets of Newberg with all of my friends, high schoolers would often wear very scary costumes that freaked us out and caused me to rethink trick-or-treating altogether. Relate back to when you were five and six. Did u enjoy being scared and tricked by high schoolers? Because I sure didn't. Anyways, I just think that kids in middle school are young enough to think rationally about scary costumes.
My final argument is that kids older than 8th grade often wear inappropriate costumes. Whether it is meant as a joke or not, it still shouldn't be happening. Little kids seeing older kids wearing inappropriate costumes and doing inappropriate things makes them think that it is OK to do so. I think we can all agree that this cycle can cause problems. Young kids should not have to watch older kids be bad examples on their night of fun.
I'm not saying that Halloween is strictly for kids, but I am saying that trick-or-treating should end in 8th grade. This is because of inappropriate costumes later on, high schoolers using scary costumes to terrorize small children (and even kids my age), and finally the fact that middle schoolers still enjoy the actual spirit of Halloween.
I still celebrate Halloween but I don’t go trick- or- treating any more. Because I feel that i am too old, to go trick-or -treating.
When you get to the age of 10 to 11 or12 you should probably start thinking about staying home. And hanging with your friends. Because if you have a lot of teenagers running around taking all the candy what’s left for the little kids. I mean look at the size of their hand if they say take a hand full then they don’t get very much candy . But if I took a hand full that is a lot of candy I just took out of that boll. That is my first reason.
Now when all the teenager go around trick- or- treating they were some really bad costume. If you start to think about it sometimes they just do that for fun not for the candy. They think it is really fun to do that but when you have kids that are only 6 to 7 years old they don’t need to see that. That also upset the parents of that kid and you can also upset the people giving out candy. then they don’t give candy any more because some kid had go and make them made.
Last thing is when you start to feel weird that is your mind telling you that you should start thinking about not trick-or-treating. And you should be responsible and stop when you know you should. don’t get me wrong it is fun when you're scaring a brother or a sister. That is really the best part of halloween is scaring a brother or sister but just be responsible.
I still celebrate halloween but I don’t go trick or treating any more because i think that I am too old to go so I stay home with my friends, and have a little party. That is a lot more fun to me than going around saying trick or treat.
I strongly believe that around the end of 8th grade that kids should stop trick-or-treating. My first reason is that kids/teens start to wear immature costumes. My second reason is that they see halloween differently than younger kids. My final reason is that teens/kids don't have the spirit of halloween anymore in them.
My first reason is that they start to wear immature costumes or disturbing costumes. For example one time these 8th graders came up to my house wearing evil demon costumes. That can be disturbing and immature to some parents and younger children. Little children used to go as their favorite tv character. Now they go as a bloody werewolf or the grim reaper. That might frighten little children and make not wanna trick-or-treating anymore.
Another reason is that they halloween differently than little kids. Teens see it as an opportunity to bother little kids. As a result of this the younger one might find it ok to scare or hurt other ones. This can cause halloween to not be fun anymore or create bullies. This can lead halloween to be a place not to get candy, but something that is used to hurt other people. That completely reunions the purpose to go trick-or-treating.
My final reason is we don't have the spirit of halloween anymore. It used to be a time where kids could get free candy,at least that is how it was. Now all you see when the time of halloween comes is “haunted houses, Scary mazes, etc”. This is saying that trick-or-treating is boring or not exciting anymore. Besides in a few years they probably won’t even dress in a costume, they will just come up in regular everyday clothes.
To summarize this halloween should stop right around the end 8th grade. This will allow younger kids to not be scared to see people in immature costumes. Also they see halloween differently than little kids. They see it as an opportunity as harm little kids. Lastly they just don't have the spirit of halloween inside of them anymore.
I believe Halloween is a fun Holiday for people of all ages. There is an age when its time to stop trick-or-treating though. I think that at the end of middle school is the appropriate time to stop. You can always go to Halloween parties, pass out candy, or go have fun with friends. Here is my reasoning to this:
Normally while you are out trick or treating either your parents or older siblings stay home and pass out candy right?? Well instead of you going trick- or- treating you could pass out candy! It is a fun way to see other peoples costumes and show off your Halloween spirit. Using scary decorations is a great way to get daredevils to come trick-or-treating at you door. Passing out candy is just one of the great ways to have fun on Halloween!
Halloween is not just about the candy, it’s also about having fun! Spend your Halloween with some friends! You could go to parties, walk around and look at all the decorations, or visit a haunted house! Its a great way to bond and a fun way to spend a Halloween night! Staying home with your friends on Halloween night is just as good. Friends always make everything better! Think of all the fun things you could do!
When you get out of middle school you become more mature and it is important that you keep this in mind while trick-or-treating. A fun thing to do instead of trick-or-treating is going to halloween parties. You can see your friends and have a good time with them. There will most likely also be yummy snacks and tons of candy. Parties are just as fun, or sometimes even better than going trick-or-treating. I think that Halloween parties are really fun are a great and safe way to spend your Halloween.
In conclusion, Halloween can be fun for everyone if you spend it right. These are just a few ways to spend your Halloween night once you get out of middle school. Passing out candy, going to Halloween parties, and having fun with friends are my way of having fun on Halloween.
I love halloween, but there is a time will we all have to stop, and I think thats at the end of middle school, here are some reason why.
First reason is because once you get older you’ll start behaving differently and sometimes on halloween some costumes can be very disturbing for little kids and adults. Maybe it would be better if instead of you going out to trick-or- treat, you could go to parties, or just hangout with friends, or pass out candy. When you get into high school you will come more responsible and trick-or- treating is for the more little kids. Also when you get into high school you will be more mature and so you don't want to go trick-or- treating and have parents passing out candy just looking at you like your 10 or something.
My other argument is when you're in high school you’ll probably have some money to go buy yourself some candy and other goodies. You dont need to go trick-or-treating for it. Also I don't think your parents will be happy for you to still go out, there probably tell you not to and that you can go buy your own candy and other stuff with your friends. Just think about it will your friends want to go trick-or-treating. If they don’t want to then you’ll be by yourself and there be out partying.
My other advice is you might scare some little children with your costumes. When you get into high school some of the costumes come more inappropriate and maybe a little bloody and so it could scare some kids. Also if kids are with their parents and you scare them you could get yourself in trouble. Most likely when you're in high school you’ll probably not want to go trick-or-treating.
In conclusion, You should stop at the end of middle school. Go out to parties, , passing candy out, or just hanging out with friends.

I think that children should stop trick-or-treating when they end of middle school around age 14.
The reasoning for stopping at age 14 is when you are older you can go and buy your own candy with the money you earned. And when teens trick-or-treat the where very scary costumes and the littler kids are very scared of them causing nightmares. The costume sizes are made in smaller sizes that don’t fit the average teenager. The costume sizes are made in smaller sizes that don’t fit the average teenager. Also scary costumes are very expensive for your parents to buy or for you to buy with your money that you saved up for other more important things. Many kids at this age and beyond just want to go and hurt or vandalize other things that don’t belong to them. The costume sizes are made in smaller sizes that don’t fit the average teenager.
My second reasoning why kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school is that parents may not want to give teenagers candy over the littler kids. Young kids go around with their parents in little hulk or princess costumes oposd to 15 year olds in dark bloody costumes. Over all it goes from young insent fun to mean frightening terror. Thats why I think that kids should stop at the middle of that when they start to not want to be princesses or princes. Early teens should stop when they are 14 because parents don’t want to give candy to kids that can buy their own or that vandalize their property.
Lastly kids should stop at 14 because if you are still craving candy halloween sales are great because you can get candy for a cheap price. You can buy some candy and give it to the trick-or-treaters and then just eat the leftovers for your self. This causes children to have less distraught childhoods.
I conclude that kids should stop dressing up on halloween because costumes become very expensive the bigger you get and its too much money for just one night. Also it allows children to have more candy to themselves. Last your parents can buy you candy with the great discounts on Halloween. This is my opinion in the subject of Halloween.
My opinion on when children should stop trick-or-treating is right after middle school. First of all, teenagers can go to the store and buy their own candy. Secondly, as kids grow up, they get more “creative” with their minds and scare people. Finally, people in middle school are still considered a “minor.”
If you line up ten high schoolers, nine out of ten of them are lazy and don’t care about younger kids. My point is, teenagers can get off their butts and go to the store for candy. They are practically taking it for granted when they go out and trick-or-treat. On the other hand, society created Halloween for little kids to go out and have fun. The little one’s face would be one that’s joyful and ecstatic after receiving a piece of candy. Don’t ruin their happiness!
When the same teenagers get older, their brains get more mischievous with their planning. For example, they will hide in trash cans, and when a little kid walked by, they would jump out and scare them to death. Even with school work, their brains get sneakier with planning on how NOT to do it. Besides, what did the little children ever do to you? You were once that young you know. Remember that.
Middle schoolers are still some-what a “child.” If they want to go trick-or-treating, they should without being judged for it. On the flipside, older people should be old and mature enough to say to themselves, “I’m getting too old for trick-or-treating.” When you say that to yourself, you’re showing maturity, which is something a lot of teenagers don’t have. These are my reasons on why I believe people should stop trick-or-treating after middle school. In case you’ve forgotten, I’ll list the reasons once more. One, teenagers should buy their own candy rather than taking it for granted. Two, as these older kids grow, they “trick” instead of “treat.” Last but not least, kids in middle school are still some-what “kids.” Happy Halloween!
I believe that you should stop trick-or-treating when you are done with middle school and entering high school. Because it is kind of a childish thing, and all people want is candy. And so what Halloween is a national holiday, you can do something with your friends.
I think that you should stop trick-or-treating, because you are too old to be dressing up, and running around asking for candy. When you were six that was cool but now its weird and most childrens parents don't like their kids to be scared by psychos who like to scare little kids.
And if you are that desperate for candy just go to the store and get candy yourself. Besides you eat it all that night and get a stomach ache and then its gone. The after Halloween sales have so much candy left over it's not even funny. And you will save a butt load of money saving it on candy then buying an expensive custom.
I believe that, even though Halloween is a national holiday you can still go a party or a haunted house. You dont have to go around asking strangers for candy. And if you have friends go do something Halloweenish with them. Like something fun, and scary enough to make you somewhat scared.
I believe you should stop trick-or-treating when you are done with middle school. Because if you are in high school and trick-or-treating that is weird. So there are three good reasons why you should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school.
I believe that people should stop Trick-or-Treating at the end of middle school, when they are fourteen. We can’t Trick-Or-Treat forever there is a time for everything to end and i think it shall end at the of middle school.
As we get older we tend to dress in scary, gross costumes. That may cause the younger kids to get scared and not want to Trick-Or-Treat. It’s the kids’ holiday, let they enjoy it! It would be so heartbreaking to see a little kid crying because of older kids frightful costume. Put yourself in their shoes, if you were little you would be terrified too.
Another reason is as we get older it gets kind of boring. You’re growing up and you’re probably earning an allowance so why spend three hours getting a bag full of candy when you can go down the road and buy candy. Its much faster, easier, and cheaper to go to the store and buy some candy rather than buy a costume for twenty bucks and only wear it for a couple of hours. By the end of middle school Halloween parties sound much more appealing. Why go outside and nearly freeze just for a little candy when you can stay in a warm and cozy house having just as much fun?
My final reason is your neighbors may become frustrated. They buy the candy with their own money for the little kids, not for the older kids to come and grab it all. When you get older you should hand out candy to give kids the same enjoyment you use to have. You would feel frustrated if you were just waiting for a cute little kid to ring your doorbell and you open the door to find a much older kid towering over you. Respect your neighbors and stop Trick-Or-Treating at the end of middle school.
I believe that people should stop Trick-Or-Treating at the end of middle school, when they are fourteen. My reasons being that as we get older we tend to dress in scary, gross costumes, As you grow older it gets kind of boring, and your neighbors may become frustrated. Halloween has to come to an end at some point.
I celebrate halloween every year, but it has occurred to me that people should stop going “trick or treating” at the age of 13 My main reason why the teens take all of the candy before anyone gets there. Trust me, I know what im talking about, its happened to me thousands of times. Its not fun being told that they just ran out of candy and im just going to have to come back next year im serious its not fun. So why can't the teens buy there own stinkin candy, its just not fair to the little kids who come with smiles on their faces and then come back with a frown because they got no candy. another reason why is that every year teens costumes seem to get scarier and scarier, and they traumatize young children. For instance, when my older sister was younger, there was a teen with a scream mask pumping fake blood into it at Pizza Hut. He turned around and it scared her so bad that it traumatized her. The last reason why I think 13 year olds should stop “Trick or Treating” is that they usually run around with their friends and have no parental guidance. so they are more likely to be pressured into doing bad things, like stealing candy from little kids and pulling pranks. Some pranks that I heard my dad and uncles doing when they were 13 and unattended were; wrapping up dog poop in tootsie roll wrappers, stealing candy from little kids, throwing toilet paper in yards, and throwing rotten eggs at people and things. It is for these reasons that I believe that 13 year olds should stop “Trick or Treating”. Instead I believe that they should buy their own candy, and have parties where there is parental guidance and the costumes can be as scary as they like without causing trauma.
I believe that students should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school (age fourteen) because they start to wear scary costumes and scare the younger children. Another reason is that they are at the age where they have the money to go and buy themselves candy. My final argument for when people should stop trick-or-treating is most of us don’t have the spirit by the end of middle school, while some wear disturbing costumes, others go out in daily clothing and trick-or-treat just for the candy.
When they start wearing scary costumes, it frightens the younger children and ruins their Halloween. It not only alarms the child, but their parents too. Most people in middle school like to wear terrifying costumes to intimidate others; they feel better about themselves when they give someone a fright. This will make the younger children believe its alright to do, and they will follow in their footsteps. The parents will not like it if you march past the smaller children so that you can get candy first. The younger children won't like it either; it’s their time to go out and get tasty treats.
Around the age of 14 people should be able to, instead of taking free candy thats meant for younger kids and ruining their Halloween, simply go to the store and buy it themselves. They could get a little job, or even a real job at that age, where they would get paid and should but it themselves. They could even pass it out to the younger kids. This could set a good example for when the younger children are at that age. They'd rather go be loud in a neighborhood than go to the store with their friends and have a party or just hang out.
Halloween is supposed to be a holiday where kids dress up and go door-to-door asking for scrumptious candy. While some wear weird costumes, others don't even bother dressing up at all, they just go trick-or-treating for the candy. This will set a bad example for the younger kids. If teens want to go trick-or-treating they should at least show some Halloween spirit by dressing up, or not go at all. By not showing spirit it is showing the younger kids that during Halloween, they don’t have to dress up, all that matters is getting mouthwatering candy.
I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school around the age of 14 because they start wearing weird or scary costumes, which can frighten the little kids. They could simply go to the store instead of ruining the younger childrens Halloween. Then there is those that have no Halloween spirit and just desire the delicious treats. Not all people are like this, but most are. If you didn't like the loud, obnoxious teens running from door-to-door, taking all the candy and not leaving any for you when you were little, then don't do it to the smaller children. If you didn't like it, I’m pretty sure they won’t like it either, so don’t be that guy and either don’t go trick-or-treating or go, if you’d like, but if you do, do it politely. All these reasons will have an impact on the younger children when they're older. Not all teens are like this, but those who are stand out. They’re conspicuous and everyone will notice them. They look up to us older kids and will most likely follow our path. Basically, how you act in a couple of years depends on how kids will act at our age, so choose the right decision.
I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. It would be too old for kids to trick-or-treat in high school. That is my belief, and I think that after reading my reasons that you to will agree. Here are my three reasons.
If all the older kids took all the candy then there would be no more for the younger kids. Isn't trick-or-treating more for the little kids anyways? I understand that it is fun to get free candy even for the high schoolers. Even though it is fun to trick-or-treat it would still be fun to hand out candy and see all the little kids cool costumes. I think that would be even more fun that trick-or-treating. Besides if there was any left over candy you would get you would get to have it.
Then there are older kids out there that like to scare little kids. Halloween is supposed to be a fun holiday. If older kids scare the younger kids then they might be to scared to go trick-or-treating. You can still dress up if you hand out candy. You can also decorate your house real spooky. For me I would hand out candy anyway. I Love the kids” face when they get a candy bar.
Also, adults might be upset if an older kid shows up at their doorstep in search of candy. They might have not bought enough candy for both younger kids and older kids. Think about it, if you handing out candy to little kids and a teenager shows up and takes a bunch of candy. I would be upset to.
In conclusion I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. There would be no more candy if all the older kids took it all. Older kids would scare all the younger kids. You can't forget that adults would be upset if a bunch of teenagers showed up at your doorstep.
I believe that children should stop trick-or-treating after middle school. I think that because they can scare younger kids, and can influence them to do or dress up as bad things. Another reason is that kids lose interest anyway. My final reason is that they can be peer pressured, and want to do bad and dangerous things.
When children are fourteen and older they want to have a little fun with the younger generations. It is fun to them but traumatizing to the younger kids. Those kids might not want to trick-or-trick anymore, and that can be ruining to a childhood. I don’t understand why some teen would want to shatter a innocent childhood. Why would someone get joy of scaring a child. There are better things to do on Halloween then terrorizing kids.
People that are fourteen and older tend to lose interest so why push it. They don’t want to dress up as a superhero, or a princess anymore and beg for candy. Halloween candy and candy in general is not very expensive, so they can go to the store and purchase candy. A teen also does not want to run around with five year olds all night either. Why would they do that when they could be watching a scary movie with there friends, or have a party.
When teens get older they can be inappropriate with their costumes. They can wear to short of dresses, or be too scary. On Halloween they can be peer pressured to do dangerous things. It can be harmful to their mental and physical self, and it can be harmful to lives and their careers. Colleges look at facebooks and instagrams, you could lose a scholarship if you post a picture of you doing dangerous, illegal, and harmful things.
Once again I believe children at age fourteen should stop trick-or-treating. They can terrorize children with harmful costumes. Teens tend to lose interest, and go to the movies, and parties. They also are often peer pressured to do horrible things. Kids need to stop trick-or-treating at fourteen.
I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. It would be too old for kids to trick-or-treat in high school. That is my belief, and I think that after reading my reasons that you to will agree. Here are my three reasons.

I think that teens should stop trick-or-treating at the end of 8th grade.
The reason I think kids should stop trick-or-treating by the end 8th grade is because: 1.They aren't little kids like they used to be in elementary school. 2. They are starting to grow up and act more mature. 3. They are gonna start to scare other little kids with their Halloween spirit and ruin their night.
They aren't little kids like they used to be in elementary school. If they still are trick-or-treating by high school its not gonna be normal for adults to see some 16 year old at their house asking for candy right, so why don't they just go to the store and buy 5 bags of candy for themselves. They aren't kids anymore they are young adult men ready to start an adult life also they are out of the little kids level and are now in the adult level.
They are starting to grow up and act more mature. They are starting to act more mature than others and understand thing better. Grow up, they are starting to grow up and becoming an adult not a little kid a young men adult.
They are gonna start to scare other little kids to ruin their night and Halloween spirit. Teens like to scare a lot when they’re older so they should not be trick-or-treating just to scare the life out of little kids or even babies that's why they should stop trick-or-treating. The high schoolers were kids one day and maybe someone scared them at some point but it does not mean they should scare other kids so they should just stop trick-or-treating at the end of 8th grade.
These are my reason why teens should stop trick-or-treating by the end of 8th grade because: 1.They aren't little kids like they used to be in elementary school. 2. They are starting to grow up and act more mature. 3. They are gonna start to scare other little kids to ruin their night and Halloween spirit.
My opinion is that middle schoolers should stop going around town asking for free candy. There is a great alternative for older kids who want to go for the fun of dressing up and showing off, but who are a little to old to go for candy when we could have a party instead. The average age that a kid stops is around 12-13 years of age or whenever they hit 7th-8th grade. And, if you have siblings, you could always ‘steal’ some of their candy.
It’s not worth running around town for candy, when you could have a party. There's generally two types of Halloween parties:
~The first is a formal dress-up party with music and a bunch of teens hanging out.
~The other is a very informal get-together, usually just a handful of teens not dressed up but who get together to watch horror movies and maybe eat some chips, or candy.
The average age that a kid stops is around 12-13 years of age or whenever they hit 7th-8th grade. And since the world is so about average, most people listen. But, there are some who don't care, but that's all up to you. And how you feel about dressing up in silly costumes and going around the city just to get something you can get at the dollar store.
Once they hit high school, many (but not all) push the trick-or-treating part off to the side. There are many kids though that have younger brothers or sisters and go trick-or-treating while they are escorting them. And with not so many teens coming, there's more candy for you to ‘steal’.
There really isn't a specific age out there you can say that someone 'should' stop trick-or-treating. In the past it used to be grade school, but today's culture is different than it was 50 years ago. The only hardcore exception that comes to mind: If you are an adult and your costumed presence scares the house owners for their safety and their valuables, then take the hint and stick to the adult Halloween.
liliana l. red core halloween debate: initial post
I think that trick-or- treaters should stop trick or treating after the age of 12. I think they should stop trick- or- treating because after the age of twelve they start acting immature and start scaring kids. Also because if they go to a door that lets you get a handful of candy the older kids have bigger hands so they can grab more candy. So then when the little kids come up they will not even get a handful like the older kids. And because the older they get the scarer they are so they can scare the littler kids. And then the kids will not want to celebrate it anymore.
Also sometimes when the person who is giving out the candy will open the door and see a really tall and big kid saying trick- or- treat. They might think it is an adult. So when they see them they might not give them candy. Sometimes the teenagers do not even dress up. Last year when my mom was passing out candy there was mostly teenagers with just a hat on. And my mom did not give them the candy.
The most important reason is that the teens will push and bully up the little kids. Because most teens will be in their friend group when trick- or- treating. So that group will bully and push the other kids when racing to the door for candy. I think that littler kids that go trick- or -treating should at least have parent or guardian with them.So when the parent sees a tenager group coming up they can bring the kids the oppisite way. Most of all to let the kids enjoy halloween and not be scared of bigger kids or else they won`t be able to celebrate it just because of a big kid.
What I think is that kids should stop trick -or- treating after the age of 12. Because they have bigger hands and will hog all the candy so that the little kids will not get any. The candy givers will be freaked out to see a big trick or treater. And the teens might not even dress up.Also the little kids might get bullied and pushed by them when they race to door to door get candy. Sometimes the older they get the more scarer the costume ,so they will scare the kids.Again In my opinion everyone should stop trick- or- treating at the age of 13.
I think kids should stop trick or treating after middle school ends at the age of 14. Everything must come to an end and trick or treating should end at 14.
My first of three reasons is that you can just buy candy. After about five hours of trick or treating you get the same amount of candy as if you spent a couple of bucks at the grocery store. And you get the exact candy you want. You can spend half that time doing yard work for money and buy twice as much candy. Plus the yard gets done.
Reason number two is that its kinda weird for a high schooler to be going around asking people for candy. And if older kids go trick or treating, they get tempted to do crazy things. Many people get toilet-papered and egged. And eventually the police get involved. Tons of high schoolers are looking for jobs and rambling with the police might jeopardize that. I personally don’t think big kids taking too much candy is a problem. Scaring kids isn’t a problem either because its all in the spirit of halloween.
The most important reason is that high schoolers should party, not trick or treat. Instead of spending hours asking people for candy, they could spend time hanging out with friends or making good memories. A party would be ten times better than trick or treating. How are teens going to remember their high school years if they don't do anything fun.
In conclusion high schoolers should never trick or treat. They'll embarrass themselves, they’ll embarrass their peers, and they’ll embarrass the town. High schoolers should party, not trick-or-treat.
I think kids should stop trick or treating after middle school ends at the age of 14. Everything must come to an end and trick or treating should end at 14.

By: Anthony hunt Green core. I do not celebrate Holloween but if i did I would say kid’s should stop at ,age 14 My first reson is that kid’s shoulde’nt spend all of thair hard eared money on a silly coustume that they will only where for a fuew hours.I’d sujest that the teenagers could get thair own job and stay home, and pass out or give out candey.Another reson minores could also start to where disturbing coustumes like blood gushing out of the person and they might be trying to scare awey outher little trik-or-treaters.This is also not fair for the other childrens’ parent’s. They spend thair money on candey for kid” not teens this holoday is ment for fun not screames and cryes……. And my second reson why teens should stop trick-or-treating is that thew will start wherering disturbing costumes to scare off outher tricker-treaters but if they coose to where terifing costumes comciquences will follow.they know that it will be fun but they don’t think it will harm the yunger children.People in middle school must know how to respect the holaday, and not take it for granet.when they wher younger they where scared and terified of the same thing. So the put themself’s in the same shoes…. My final reason why those in middle school should not celebrate after age 14 is the long term damage that it could do to the chiled. No one know’s what could happen in the that kid’s life. They could have night mares for a long time.Just becouse they where trying to have fun. I don’t celebrate holloween but if i did Iwould stop at age 14.At this age teen’s should of known to be responseble, and respectful. They should know by now that they could go to the store to buy candey and not to scare.I hope people could try to have fun but with no cryes Everyone has thair own taste and plan on how they spend thair time trick-or-treating but they shoulden’t spend it on scaring kid’s but they do it aney way.they know thair are conciquences for thair action’s but they don’t care. It’s how its gona be so they just have to learnhow to treat peaple and thair kid’s with respect.Thair is nothing we can do but thaey can make a change for thair selfes. like i said i don’t celebrate holloween but if i did i would stop at age 14.it’s just the appropreate time yo stop but if the peaple don’t know what they are doing that is yhair problem so you’ve heared my appinion but you make one for your self….

I think kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. They use way too many scary costumes, they mess around, and sometimes they are in danger.
These days most middle schoolers like to scare little ones. I don’t think that they should do that because it takes the fun away from the younger children. Sometimes it traumatizes kids and can hurt their life in the the future. Everyone should enjoy this holiday, and not be scared to go out trick-or-treating without being scared.
My next concern is that why are they going out if most of the time they are just messing around. When they get together with a bunch of friends, they dare each other to do bad stuff .So they do it to prove that their cool or something . These dares can lead to getting in trouble or getting hurt. By the end of the night they don’t even care about the candy they just wanted to mess around.
Finally, kids sometime are in danger because they like to go by themselves and there are a lot of bad people out there. Little kids go with their parents, but middle schoolers want to be cool and go out by themselves. They can get kidnapped or maybe get hit by a car because they don’t follow street rules. Plus they go into houses don’t look Halloween friendly at all. This can lead to getting poisonous candy.
This is why i think kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. All they do is just scare little kids and mess around.these actions specially can lead to consequences or even injury.
Ok Grace I agree with you on the whole thing of when a older brother or sister gets too old to trick-or-treat. But that is where mom and dad come in they can take them too right. I also disagree that you should stop when you're in the first year of high school. Because like you said that high schooler’s can make up some pretty nasty costume. Now I disagree about scaring little kids scare them just make sure it is a brother or sister so that you don’t get in trouble. I also like that you put in there don’t steal from little kid because that is not ok. I mean if you want that much candy gest go by it your self I mean if you what tell the next day you can get a lot of candy for like 2 buck’s. You also have great point if you're in college they usually have a party. On campus so stay there and have fun with people your age. You make good point stay in your neighborhood don’t go to other’s and take that candy to.
I beleive that halloween should end at the end of middle school, for trying to preserve that magic that you had as a child may change as soon as you hear the teens are scaring the children into submission with their costumes, I think that is wrong.
I would understand that if it was a sibling even though, yet they do it anyway, it’s awkward going door to door just to get candy 25% of which, is good the rest is second rate.
I think that children in middle school would overgrow going door to door trying to get candy from strangers you could buy more at the store for less pain than walking in the open street you could be in a “bad” neighborhood.
by middle school you should be getting money one way or another, so why would you want candy you wouldn’t even enjoy plus it wouldn’t last until next Halloween.
I would go not for the candy, but to hang out with friends even if you invite all of your friends you just want candy I would rather sit inside my house watching scary movies in the dark go to a haunted house these are drastic for me,
so why freeze to death in little clothing? Even “hardcore” Trick-or-Treaters should be finished by this age. I believe that these reasons are good enough for you should see that Trick-or-Treating should be for up to middle school and no older.
Kianna you have some good points in your essay. Like how the older kids will wear scary costumes that will scare the little kids. And how it will probably get boring for us older kids. Also the neighbors will become frustrated. But i must argue with you about some of your points about trick-or-treating.
First of all, I don’t think that kids should stop trick-or-treating by the end of middle school. But they should stop by high school, because the high schoolers get way more terrifying than middle schoolers. But halloween is meant for scaring people that’s what this holiday was meant to be. And then it came to the point where people started to give out goodies.
Second to last, I really don't think that anyone will get board of trick-or-treating because its a fun thing to do at all ages. Also to add on to my argument trick-or-treating will never get boring for any one. And if trick-or-treating is boring to anyone they should make up their mind by the time halloween comes up.
My third and final argument is,me myself I don't really care about how my neighbors about me coming over to there house to get candy. Also why would they get mad at the fact of me going over to get candy on the holiday. And thats what that holiday is all about, because they can't force you to go trick-or-treating at there house.
Kianna S. you had some good points but I just had argue about your argument. But thank you for your argument I appreciate the opportunity for this debate.
I think that by the end of middle school kids should stop trick-or-treating. Many younger children like Halloween but don’t like being terrified. Teenagers can afford candy and often times adults are complaining about being scared by teenagers in terrifying costumes at the later hours of night.
Younger elementary kids like to dress up in fun and classic costumes like princesses, pirates, or zombies but many teenagers will go out of their way to buy scary and frightful costumes to scare older and younger citizens of the town or city while 13-14 year old kids will not want to be scary but humorous or simple, so they can get some laughs from citizens. Teenagers often just want candy or to frighten people for the fun of it.
There are many adults complaining about being scared out of their wits by teenagers who wish to scare these citizens. In Richmond, Virginia there was a law passed that no person over the age of 12may trick-or-treat and there is a fine of $25-$100 if you break this city law. Many teenagers come late at night where as 13-14 year olds are responsible enough to come at a moderate time.
Teenagers are old enough to get jobs for good amounts of money and buy their own candy, but instead spend it on frightful costumes that they only wear once. Middle school kids often cannot get jobs so they can not buy their own candy. 13-14 year old kids often spend any money they have on simple humorous costumes. Teenagers spend money on frightful costumes.
I believe that people should stop trick-or-treating by the end of middle school because they can buy their own candy once in high school but not middle school. Littler kids will often laugh at middle school kids humorous costumes. Also adults complain about teenagers trying to scare them
Your debate has some good points in it but there are some reasons I have to disagree with you. My reasons are about why you should stop in high school. But since I have never gone I may be wrong this may or may stand out.
Everybody that I've seen as a high schooler on Halloween hasn't worn anything inappropriate. Also most high schoolers go to parties or stay at home so this won’t happen often! Besides if they wear something inappropriate they will have to go home. Or besides that grown ups have the choice to do a nasty trick at them. So because of this I think doesn't really matter.
Some people might what more candy so yes they could by it at the store if they wanted to. But some people just want to have fun and do it with their friends the old fashioned way. most of the time people respect how much candy there is. Also there’s usually a grown up standing by the bowl passing out candy.
They may or may not have keep the holidays main characters but they have keep the holidays spirit. So no matter what it’s just a holiday to them having fun and getting candy. Also you don’t have to stop it’s your choice and besides you can still have fun with your friends at parties.
That is my debate against you but as I said I have not gone really trick-or-treating.Friends may just want to have fun, you can stop when you want ,you can have parties and it’s your choice when to stop. So I say just go out there and have fun.
Mikayla B. Masenhimer/Green core October-22-2013 Argument against Mykaela B. Mykaela you have amazing reasons but i still believe that kids should not have to stop having fun just because some people think its inappropriate for them to go Trick-or-Treating because there out of middle school.Except the fact that everyone under the age of 21 is considered a minor.
I see what your trying to get at but not necessarily nine out of ten high schoolers are lazy and don't care about kids.6 out of ten of them have a younger brother or sister that they act like they hate but they really love. Its not fair to the older kids to have to stop at the end of middle school. Also not every high schooler has a paying job.
Most of the kids that go by themselves Treating-Or-Treating are not scared that is why they go alone and it may be scary at first then they would probably start to laugh. If the kid started to laugh the older but childish person would feel ashamed and probably stop.
I agree that they did not do anything to us but they can be very annoying and pushy and we/they can get irritated by them and so they feel the need for payback and personally i think payback is very fun.But is also very mean to children. It’s also not fair to older kids to have to stop having that kind of fun.
So as you can see i don't agree with you because i believe that people should stop trick-or-treating their sophomore year of high school.Because they should still be allowed to have that kind of fun.

Mykaela B, I think your reasons are great, in fact they are similar to mine. But, I do not think that you are choosing the right age to stop. I think the age when kids are being immature is at age 16. At age 14 you might start being immature, but not as much as you say in your post. Think about this, 14 year olds might not even be allowed to be out in the night so late. Not even on halloween night, so they might not even have the time to terrorize little kids. Maybe, 16 year olds are allowed to stay out late at night. At age 14, kids might not even have the guts to go out and scare people. They prefer the candy that they are going to receive. Kids might have to take care of their little siblings. They have to go out and trick-or-treat with their siblings. If you stop trick-or-treating at age 14 what are you going to do about little brothers and sisters? You can’t just let them run-off in the dark, scary night! Some guy might try to kidnap them. That is why I disagree with you. Also, 14 year olds might start planning to scare. They haven’t started scaring yet. They are starting to figure out how to scare. 16 year olds already are doing that because they planned that 2 years ago. That is why they are really good at scaring people. Those are the reasons why I think you are wrong. I hope you, Mykaela, didn't misunderstand anything. Your reasons were awesome, just not at the right age. 16 year olds are more immature than a 14 year old. Kids at age 14 can still be responsible.

Because sometimes you start to do stuff that you don’t mean. Which does not end with a pretty ending most of the time if you know ,what I mean. I think that was a good thing to put in there. And you neglected to say whether you trick-or-treat any more. And if you do what are some of your own rules. That you or your parent set for you. If so are they good rule’s or are they kind of stupid like some of the other rule’s that mom’s and dad’s set sometime’s. You should probably think about changing your time frame about when people should stop trick-or-treating in my opinion
Halloween Debate Corbin Wilson rebuttal against Aleyah W. green core Aleyah W. I think that your initial post that you made about how we should stop trick-or-treating after elementary school and into the first year of middle school is great but unfortunately I disagree.
After reading your post I can see why you think that kids should stop during the first year of middle school. I agree that all things should come to an end. When it comes to halloween I definitely think that we should give the kids a couple more years for them to enjoy this classic celebration of fun.
The only exception I have is if the kids do not deserve it then it is up to the parents to decide for their own kids. I think that halloween should be celebrated by almost all appropriate ages for kids. I also believe that kids mature at different ages and rates; so in my opinion it depends on every kid so their really is no official age limit. According to that I think that the average age would be 14-15. No one can specifically say when the right age is because it is an unwritten rule of society and that includes me as well.
Another reason I do not believe kids should stop after elementary school is because in middle school there is a lot more class work and especially homework than in elementary school. When they get into middle school it is a big change and it is hard to adapt to a totally new school. Many kids get down in emotions and moral because it is just too much to take in and hold; so by having halloween during middle school it helps their moral at least until christmas.
That is my final reason I disagree with you. I do not mean to hurt your feelings in any way but I just simply disagree with you.
Bailey S.(responding to Jonathan G. in green core) Trick-or-treating should stop after elementary school.
Jonathan G. had some good ideas on why people should stop trick-or-treating at 21, but kids should stop trick-or-treating even earlier. After elementary is when people become teenagers and young adults so it would be the perfect time to stop trick-or-treating. Is Halloween trick-or-treating made for kids or for young adults?
You pointed out that 21 year old people already have their license but people get their license long before. Just at the age of 18 people can already start voting so they should not be trick-or-treating at this age. At age 20 people are already starting to drink which could cause problems for young trick-or-treaters. You don’t want people who could possibly be drunk to be trick-or-treating.
Young adults can misbehave while trick-or-treating but so can middle schoolers. A lot of the time youth feel like they need to be cool which can lead to them pranking and intimidating others while trick-or-treating. Teenagers are even more likely to prank and goof around than young adults because they are still maturing. Middle schoolers can even have it be their goal to intimidate others by their costumes and behavior.
Candy can damage people’s teeth at all ages. The age where cavities is a big problem is in middle school. As middle schoolers are still maturing they can forget to brush their teeth and forget to think about what they can and cannot eat. The majority of people get their braces in middle school. If you have ever had braces, then you would know that with braces you have to be careful with certain food like sticky and hard candy. What would be the point to trick-or-treat for candy that is bad for your teeth?
People should not continue trick-or-treating up to 21 years old. Trick-or-treating up to 21 years old is immature. Young adults should not be trick-or-treating so they can prevent pranks and scaring innocent children. Candy can be a problem for middle schoolers so they should not continue the same problem until young adulthood. Stopping trick-or-treating after elementary prevents immature adults pranking and ruining other’s Halloweens.
Selah, you have a strong argument, but most of your statements are not right to me. Obviously these are just my simple opinions. I believe that children should trick-or-treating up until the end of high school but your belief is different from mine.
For example how you said the teenagers would take all the candy. The people passing out candy would knowingly have more than one bag from past experiences. Because they are in high school they would probably give less to the older kids and more to the younger children.
The second thing that I do not agree with is that like I said in my post not everyone likes to scare the younger children. And if they do that’s one out of over 7 billion people. Also, it’s not like they are going to waste the majority of their night hiding and waiting.
You said that it might be weird that a high schooler showed up wanting candy, but it also might bring up sweet memories. My older sister is still trick-or-treating and she’s 16. I guess you are thinking that this is kind of weird high schoolers showing up, but their sibling might be shy. That could be the whole reason behind this.
I can understand why you might feel this but everyone should at least have one good childhood memory growing up. The adults might give a little less than the children but it is the fun that really counts, also not everyone likes to scare kids like for example, me. And all you know is that a teenager is trick-or-treating but everything has an explanation. What I’m trying to say is that you could be a teen and still go. Just don’t jump to conclusions too quickly.
Kianna you have some good points in your essay. But I don’t agree how the older kids will wear scary costumes that will scare the little kids. Neil I disagree, and these are my reasons why I disagree with you. My reasons are that you are going to end up not wanting to stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school, also the great costumes. Finally the case of getting bored of throwing, and going to parties all the time.
Neil, you have some good points but there are a few things you did not think about. First of all you did not think about how your probably not going to want to stop trick-or-treating. Yes you can get candy at the store, but in my opinion you should do that the rest of the year. Although during halloween your first year of high school you're just going to score some free candy. So yeah during the year get candy at the store but for halloween score some free candy.
You have other good points too but you missed some things. For instance you didn't think of the awesome costumes you would get. In high school you get costumes that are so well detailed. For example Ferris bueller costumes, they will be so well detailed. So if you get those great costumes you will get so much candy. They sometimes save the king size for the well detailed costumes.
You have another good point, “You could just go to parties.” If you go to parties all of high school it might get boring. Then at the last year of high school and all through college even when you grow you will sell out and get boring. Like Denise said in Hot Rod “And everyone else just got old and boring and sold out but you Rod you stayed exactly the same.” I know you love that movie so I hope this will help change your mind about that.
All and all you have some great points but neil think about the other parts of it. (And Hot Rod). ☮

Selah, you say teens need need to stop at the end of middle school. I strongly disagree. Most kids don't take all the candy. You'd see more costumes if you went out and went trick or treating. And, most people don't run out of candy.
You say ‘took all the candy’ when most people only get one piece of candy at a time. So how wold that be taking all of it? Left over candy, lets see where to start, there might not be left over candy, or you could eat some then you'd take away from the kids that come to your door. How would they scare little kids? Most kids like scary! most teen really like to act childish, and dress up as a crayon or something, like that.
If you do go trick or treating, you’d be able to see more little kids costumes than if you were to be cramped in a house giving candy out. You'd get to see all the pirates, princesses dragons, knights, and many more! And, If you decorate your house all scary little kids might not wanna come because they get too scared. And then you end up with no one showing up and you have nothing to do on a really fun night.
Most people buy extra candy just in case they have teens show up, I’ve personally never even seen a house that ran out of candy. Have you? No. Most teens think about this the same way that you do, and don’t take a lot of candy. because they know kids love candy
In conclusion, no one has to ever stop trick-or -treating. most people like to keep that little kid inside of them. All that little kid wants it to have some candy. and be able to dress up and mess around.
I believe halloween should end at the end of middle school. The fun has to end at sometime.People always say everything needs to come to an end.14 is the age it should come to an end.Running around in costumes and hogging candy is never right. That is why 14 is the end for people scaring on the street to people scaring at their houses.goodbye halloween and hello handing out candy.
My first reason is high schoolers are all about scaring little kids instead of candy. They can just drive to the store if they want to so badly get candy. Halloween is all about kids getting candy and dressing up not some high school kids running around stealing all the candy from people so none left for kids. Little kids deserve to have a good halloween and not some stuck up high schooler stealing all the candy or scaring little kids. High schoolers also sometimes walk around just so they at midnight can teepee someones house because they think its funny.
My second reason is that older kids costumes are either inappropriate or too scary for little kids so they pee their pants just walking by you. cowboys or police or anything not extremely scary so kids can enjoy. People say halloween is for scaring but its really not. Halloween is just to let the kids have fun and enjoy candy and being hyper. Having kids scared to death just from a costume is horrible. let them have a nice night walking around with pillow cases and getting candy.
My third reason is the older you get the less you care about the other kids. You care about you not some little five or six year old girl or boy.Older kids shove them out of the way just to get candy.showing that example breaks a kids heart or makes them do that when their older. That legacy is horrible and kids never want to be a bully but if you're one to them think what they'll do to other kids when there your age. Lots of kids go trick or treating and same with high schoolers. If you keep doing this the next halloween teens will do it and then the next.
Halloween should be stopped at the end of middle school.High schoolers should go scare their parents and walk or drive to the store for candy if you want it so bad.High schoolers always wear something inappropriate or too scary for kids.High schoolers never care about others just themselves so they shove and push just to get a free piece of candy.Halloween should end at middle school.
Capri, although your points are valid,I still don’t agree with your belief. You bring up some good points like dropping all the other holiday but you said enjoy it while you can so that means do it until it’s not fun any more. There are people who can’t handle the high schoolers costumes but I was not one of them so I didn’t feel the same way.Not all people wear scary or inappropriate because not all people are the same.
The initial problem I’m arguing is that you think that people should stop trick-or-treating after 8th grade because they should enjoy it while it lasts. The thing is, that means enjoy it until it’s not fun so all you are doing is just trying to put a limit to the fun.Putting a limit is not cool it’s just depressing to the people to the people at this age. It’s like if someone stopped you from hang out with your friends or they don’t allow you to go to one party and that’s it.So that’s why I think there should be no reason for you to be putting a limit.
The second thing is that you shouldn’t have to hope if you're fighting for you should know.It seems you are unsure about your decision.Just because they’re in high school doesn’t mean they they will scary little kids only the unmature ones will scary little kids.Capri just because they scary dosen’t mean they will ruin the night for them they will just be scared for a little bit because their parents will talk to them a say it’s all right.
Just because they are older doesn't mean they will wear inappropriate costumes because it all matter on how mature they are. There are mature high schoolers they are just harder to find them.So just because you said it doesn’t men it’s true because it’s all about matureity because you can have a high schooler dressed up as a superhero but it ids hard to find a teenager superhero because it will probally be just one or two.The thing is everyone is just trying to have fun.
Capri, although your points are valid I disagree because just because they’re older doesn't mean they are going to scare kid or wear inappropriate costumes or take all the candy not everyone is the same
Isabel H. green core Mr. Masenhimer rebuttal against Mitchell A.
Your argument has the holiday spirit but I think you're wrong. I think you should stop in high school. For the spirit of halloween shall always stand. People still have the right to trick or treat they don’t have to do something else. Yes they can do something different but it depends on what they think. They may hold parties, stay at home, or go to the moves but they still have a choice. It’s not illegal in Newberg so we can still pick when we stop. besides grownups can not open up their door if they want to they think somebodys being mean, or just not up to it that year. The little kids will always get candy and have fun. most the time they come early because of bedtime and get candy then. Sometimes grown ups will let them take two handfuls though. Most kids that I know wouldn’t hurt a little kids feelings trick-or-treating. Some grown up will just stop hany out candy at night and do it earlier. Teens trick-or-treat just sometimes they don’t purposely wear inappropriate clothing. Also they still do it to have fun. But yes sometimes they can just want free candy theres no harm against that. But as long as they do do anything rude I think they should be okay to go out and trick-or-treat. Teens should be able to trick-or-treat because sometimes they just want to have fun.Teens don’t purposely hurt the kids feelings, and people still have the right to trick or treat!
Kade you make some good points but I feel they are invalid. My first reason being that we get older and we tend to dress in costumes that are scary, gross, or too revealing; older kids get bored and; people handing out candy may become frustrated.
You stated that “they should stop by high school, because the high schoolers get way more terrifying than middle schoolers.” Thats exactly why they should stop by Middle School because in High School you get really terrifying. Maybe Halloween was meant for scaring but i can guarantee it wasn’t meant for making the children not want to trick or treat anymore. Halloween is meant for the kids not for High schoolers. Would you really want to see a little kid crying because of older kids’ frightful costumes? I know that I wouldn’t.
As we get older it does get boring though. Seriously we all grow out of Trick-Or-Treating at some point and that should be at the end of middle school. I would rather sit in a warm cozy house eating candy then waste 3 hours walking around in the freezing cold to get a little candy. You can also just go buy some candy for a few bucks.
Put yourself in your neighbors shoes. I mean would you really want super tall and much older kids coming to the door when you’re expecting a cute little kid? I think not. Your neighbors pay for it with their own money. Give your neighbors some respect and stop at a reasonable age which is Middle School. As you get older your hands get bigger and that means that you take a lot more candy and that leaves very little for the little kids.
Be mature and stop at the end of Middle School. My reasons being that as we get older we tend to dress in costumes that are scary, gross, or too revealing, older kids get bored, and lastly people handing out candy may become frustrated. Halloween can't last forever so stop at fourteen.
liliana l. red core halloween debate: rebuttal against riley w.
Riley i have read your argument but I do not believe that trick-or-treaters should stop after high school. I Do not think that teenagers should stop trick-or-treating after high school Because when they are in high school the more bigger they get. And the more bigger they get the more bad stuff happens……
First of all lots of teens scare the little kids and think it is a joke.As you have said in tour argument “ kids won`t spend the majority of their time wating in a bush to scare little kids.” I disagree with you because sometimes they put on a scary mask and walk by a little kid and scare them. Because i have seen it before I was walking on the street one time way ahead of my family and then I saw this group of teenage boys that were laughing at a little girl who was dressed as a fairy. And they were trying to take her candy but then her older sister came and the boys went on their bikes and rode away.
Second the older they get the taller they get. So when they come to the door and a little mom looked through the window and saw these college kids waiting at the door. So she did not old lady opens the door and sees kids that are six feet tall she will get freaked out! Last year my even open the door. Most kids go trick-or-treating until the end of college.I think that they should stop after 6th grade.
Also the kids do not even dress up. Lots of teens just have a tiger head band on and think thats their costume. They mostly just want the candy. Sometimes the next day at school after halloween the teacher asks “ how much candy did you get?” some kids say they got 2 trash bags full! That happened at my old school last year. I know your sister still trick-or-treats but I think that she should have stopped at thirteen not still go at sixteen.Because the more teens trick-or-treating, the less candy for the younger kids.
The more older they get the more bigger they get. Thats why kids should stop trick-or-treating at age 13. Sometimes the teens scare the littler kids or try to bully them for just candy. And the older they get the taller they get. So if a little old lady opens the door and sees these 6 foot tall kids she will get a little freaked out. Most kids do not even dress up for halloween because all they want is candy. Like I said trick-or-treaters should stop trick-or-treating after age twelve.
Riley, you have a great argument but I still disagree. I believe that at the end of middle school kids should stop trick-or-treating. I”m sure that after you read my rebuttal that you will surely agree. Firstly, I want to point out that you said “The people passing out candy would knowingly have more than one bag from past experience.” Well, what if they were first timers? How would they know to buy more than one bag of candy? What would happen if a little kid went trick-or-treating and got barely any candy. They might not want to go trick-or-treating and miss years of fun. Thats not very fair. Don't you agree?
Secondly, I understand your point about one in seven billion kids might scare the little kids. Lots of kids like to trick-or-treat with their friends though. If their friends are scaring little kids then they might feel pressured to also. Think about it, If your friends were scaring little kids wouldn't you feel pressured to scare the little kids too? Lots of people would.
Thirdly, I understand the sweet memories are important. Couldn't you make sweet memories while handing out candy? Seeing little kids’ smiles is amazing! Besides you can make plenty of memories in other life situations. If you really want to make sweet memories during Halloween then you can try dressing up a certain way for handing out candy. You can capture the kids’ precious smiles and laughter as they see you costume. You can also decorate your house real spooky too! Wouldn't that be fun?
In conclusion I believe kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. The older kids would take all the candy. The older kids would scare the younger kids. Also the adults might be upset to see a big group of teenagers at their doorstep. Thank you for reading my post.
Kade, I believe you have some interesting points, but I dissagree. Haloween wasnt made for scaring little kids. Kids will make up their minds and quit. Maybe you not care, but your neighbors probably do. Heres why.
Halloween wasnt made for scaring little kids! Haloween was made for have (little/middle schooler) kids go out for some free candy dressed up and being who they wanna be! Like a pirate, a princess, a cat, a dog, etc.. Halloween was made for trick-or-treating.
Most kids/middle schoolers do make up their mind by middle school. Not high school, not elementary, middle school! You may think someone never gets to tired for trick-or-treating but, there comes a time when everything gets old including dressing up for Halloween. When they make up their mind is usally when their in middle school. (your sorta fighting your own argument there.)
Maybe you might not care what your neighbors think about when you go over to thier house asking for candy. They problily do. Since we are already on the topic of you, you probibly bug them anofe when its not halloween. But you wanna bug them on a night when they are trying to give back to the neighborhood. Your right they cant force you, but you go for the candy.
Once again, i belive you have some interesting points, but i still dissagree. Haloween wasnt made for scaring little kids. Kids will make up their minds and quit. Maybe you not care, but your neighbers probably do. Good-Bye

Kade, you make good points in your argument, but I still don't agree. At that age they could go to the store and buy their own candy, maybe even pass it out to keep the tradition going. Teens usually start wearing scary costumes and tend to frighten the younger children. As you said in your essay “... the high schoolers get way more terrifying than the middle schoolers” You think that's a reason to go trick-or-treating, but I say that's one of the reasons why you should not. And lastly, people lose Halloween spirit by the end of middle school. The point of Halloween isn't to scare children, it’s to make sure they enjoy it while getting delicious treats; but scaring them isn't going to support them in that. Going to the store and buying your own candy is part of being the responsible teen during Halloween. You can, instead of making it a scary holiday, make it an encouraging one by showing people that the responsible thing to do is to hand out candy, not go out and frighten others. At the age of 14 you should have a small job or be able to do things for money. That will set a great example for the kids. It will show them that it is the most mature thing to do. Taking candy from the other kids will set a bad example. It will make them believe that forging ahead just to get most of the candy is okay, when its not. Wearing scary costumes doesn't make anyone's halloween better, in fact it, makes it worse. It not only frightens the child but the parent too. As you stated in your essay “ ... the high schoolers get way more terrifying than middle schoolers. Halloween is meant for scaring people that’s what this holiday was meant to be ” . I completely disapprove. That's one of the reasons why you should stop trick-or-treating at some point in middle school. None of the younger kids want to be frightened by terrifying costumes. They don't want to be scared at all! Respect the children and stop trick-or-treating during middle school. You also state “ trick-or-treating will never get boring for anyone”. disagree with this statement. People not only get bored of it, they lose all their spirit! Halloween isn't for all ages. Teens, especially in high school, think that they're too cool to trick-or-treat or they don't want to, they'd rather go to a party. Everyone has different opinions but I think most people would say that Halloween does get boring at some time in your life because you get old and adults usually know that trick-or-treating isn't for them, but for their children.
Your arguments are good, but I have to say that they are invalid. Teens wearing horrifying costumes make Halloween worse, destroying the tradition. They are at the age where they can get up and go buy themselves candy, maybe even pass it out to the other kids. In your opinion, Halloween is the holiday that is supposed to be scary, but I, and plenty other people, think it is a time for the younger children to get mouth-watering treats and have fun dressing up. They won't enjoy it if they're getting scared, right Kade? Unless, they like getting frightened, but I’m sure they don't. Lastly, teens lose all their spirit and get bored. They'd rather go to a party and hang out with their friends. You see, Halloween does have to come to an end, and that time is throughout middle school.

Ashley M. Masenhimer Red Core Rebuttal against Kade V.
Kade, although you made very good points in your argument, I believe that they are invalid. You say in your argument that “ high schoolers get way more terrifying than middle schoolers” that I believe is a reason for high schoolers to stop trick-or-treating. If they get super scary, then who will go trick-or-treating if they are scared that they will be scared? You also brought up another point and said that “ trick-or-treating will never get boring for anyone.” I say that that is fully unreasoned, a lot of people do get bored of it because they’re just walking around in freezing weather just for candy. And lastly you said that you didnt care what your neighbors thought if you went over to there house for candy, but here is a question, are you going over there when they have their lights turned off? I say respect them and don't do it. You said that high schoolers get way more terrifying as they climb in age, if that is so, then that is a whole other reason on why they should not go trick-or-treating. If these high schoolers continue scaring younger children in these spine chilling costumes, than all of the joy they have for the holiday will be seized. You also said that the whole reason for Halloween is to scare people, I say that you are wrong. Halloween is about having fun and getting goodies for you to share with your friends. Also, it is about dressing up in appropriate costumes and going out and showing off, not to have these helpless children be terror stricken Although you had a great argument I believe that you were completely mistaken with this argument. Kade you also said that” trick-or-treating will never get boring for anyone” I say that you are wrong, again. Trick-or-treating is always to somebody going to get boring, whether they are small or big, their joy and fun for the holiday will begin to fade. People all around the world get bored of walking around in freezing cold air, knocking on peoples doors, and getting candy from strangers. I say what is to like about that after middle school? People are just too lazy to go buy their own candy. Halloween will get boring for everyone, and eventually people will realize that they are wasting their time getting candy from strangers. I'm deeply sorry kate, but I think that you are completely invalid. Kade , your last reason was that “me myself I don't really care about how my neighbors feel about me coming over to there house to get candy” And I completely agree with you, but if they have their lights off, then that is probably a sign that they do not want kids knocking at their doors. Your neighbors may get frustrated with you if this giant kid is dressed as a pirate, wanting candy and you're in high school! Your neighbors respect you and if they have children will send them to your house, if your lights are on, and they are not in high school. I understand that you and others don't care what your neighbors think, that it is a holiday that this happens, but respect your neighbors by handing out candy with them and not snatching it from little kids trying to get goodies, and not scaring children out of the way in bloodcurdling costumes.
All of your arguments were very well thought out, but I still believe that children should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. You said that High schoolers get way more terrifying as they climb in age, I say that that is a whole other reason to stop trick-or-treating. You also said that trick-or-treating will never get boring, that is completely wrong in my opinion. Trick-or-treating will always get boring for at least one person. And lastly you said that you didnt care what your neighbors thought about you going to their door, well I say that you should respect their privacy and leave them alone if they feel they don't want you on their property. All of your arguments were very persuasive, but I still think that children at the end of middle school should stop trick-or-treating.
Tyler H. Mr. Masenhimer red core rebuttal against Neil V.
No one augmented against me,so I found you,and I think that your points and reasons are invalid,so here are my three reasons why you are wrong. I agree with you when it comes to trick-or-treating when you are in high school, but why buy a bag of candy instead of running around in a free costume (you got from your parents-which means that they are going to see your costume, which means you can't go trick-or-treating in an inappropriate costume) with your beast bros. When it comes to scaring the little kids,it’s the high school teens job to do it.The whole point of Halloween is to get scared,to be scared, ant to scare.(along with trick-or-treating). I do agree with you when it comes to buying costumes and only wearing them once, but is it your money you're spending on a most-likely 25$ costume?I think not.And as for scaring little kids, you don't have to worry about that! It’s Halloween! And I bet Jake wants to scare his little brother. For my final paragraph,I think that what Jake meant was that you have to spend the first year of H.S.with your friends trick-or-treating,instead of going to a “beginner” party(a person that has thrown a Halloween party for the first time),that way 1.you don't waste your time at a “lame”party 2.you can spend your last time trick-or-treating with your friend, and you have trick-or-treated in every grade school and 3.you don't get bored of all the parties you go to. Honestly,I don't think that it matters if someone stops trick-or-treating in elementary school! But if it were to become a law,I would vote with Jake and the rest of the people who would stop trick-or-treating in H.S.
Halloween Debate Corbin W. green core rebuttal against Aleyah W.
Aleyah W. I appreciate that you do not think that middle schoolers should trick-or-treat but sadly I disagree with you. My rebuttal is going to be about why I do not think that middle schoolers should stop. Many people still are trick-or-treating and if they get any complaints I am sure that their moms or dads or even both will say to stop it. Then they will have no choice but to stop because it will stop any ways. I do not think that having a bigger hand will affect the other kids that much. I do not think that because it is only a couple pieces more and the parents have more anyways after all of these years of handing out candy. Most parents won't let their kids wear overly freighting costumes either. Though I disagree with you about what you think about this debate I still respect your arguments and initial posts that you have. I think that you made some good points and typed some good writing and it was hard for me to argue against you. Aleyah W. I think that we both made good points but after all I do disagree with you.
Mikayla B. Masenhimer/Green core rebuttal against mykaela b.
Mykaela you have some great reasons in your argument but I’m not convinced that you should stop at the age of 14.I still believe that people should stop their sophomore year in high school. my reasons still apply because if the high schoolers and us stopped trick or treating there wouldn't be many people around to hear late at night.so there for things could happen and not very many people could be there to help. Yes they can have fun other ways on halloween but some girls can't ride skateboards and even some boys can’t ride skateboards so it would not be fair to those people and on some halloweens it is a school night and they can't have a sleepover.Never once in my entire life time has someone in my neighborhood been egged or toilet papered. High schoolers can host parties and such but when its on a school night some teenagers cant go to or have halloween parties because their parents won't let them. There for some teenagers should be able to go trick-or-treating if they have nothing better to do than sit at home and watch tv or a movie and pass out candy. So in conclusion you might think it's inappropriate to go trick-or-treating but it is not its is a very good thing to do before they are all grown up.those are my reasons that they should be aloud to trick-or-treat on halloween until their sophomore year in high school.
I like how you made your point kade, but I disagree with you and how you think at the end of high school you should stop trick-or-treating. These are my arguments. First of all, I don’t think kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of high school, it should be middle school. Why? Well because I understand that you said halloween is about scaring people, but its not all about that. Halloween is a holiday where you dress up but not all scary. I think if you want to dress up scary go to a party with friends or nothing too scary for little children. Also, when you get in to high school you’re too old I think! Go to parties, go to the movies, but don’t go out trick-or-treating you’re too old. Start acting mature. Get your own money, go to the store buy yourself something. Stay home and pass out candy. My other argument is you said that it never gets boring. Well for some high schoolers I bet it does. Also you said you did not care what your neighbors thought about you going over there to get candy well when your in high school and you go to a house I’m sure of that they will say something like “aren’t you a little too old to go trick-or-treating. In conclusion, you have some pretty good reasons, but I just think when you get into high school you’ll be too old for it. Thank you for your time.
Mikayla, you have good reasons on why you think that people should still trick-or-treat in high school but your supporting details were unclear. I think that it is a little awkward when you see high schoolers going door to door asking for candy, most high school kids get themselves out of taking their younger siblings trick-or-treating,and high schoolers wont be scared of the Halloween decorations and ruin it for other people who think that it is scary. Lastly, when other children see older kids getting “payback” for pulling pranks or scaring other people, it might be terrifying to little kids and other people.
Halloween can be fun for everyone but it can also be very scary. I dont know about you but when I was little, I was terrified of high schoolers trick-or-treating. They didn’t even dress up they just went door to door asking for candy. I believe that they are old enough to just go to the store and buy themselves candy. When they go to someones house and ask for candy, the adults sometimes get scared too because some high schoolers are taller and it doesn't seem like they should be out trick-or-treating at such a mature age.
My brother always offered to take me trick-or-treating with my dad. I know that other people might dread taking their younger siblings trick-or-treating though. From what i know, alot of the time they end up not having to. Last year I didn’t see anyone taking their younger siblings around, I either saw groups of kids or adults with their children going around the neighborhood.
Pulling pranks on Halloween is mainly what the older kids do. High schoolers don't really have a bedtime so they stay out late disturbing people, ringing door bells, knocking on doors, and just being loud. when you say “personally, I think payback is very fun, but is also very mean to children.”in your writing I have to disagree. Halloween may be about having fun but pulling pranks, getting “payback”, and scaring people should not be done around the little kids because it ruins their Halloween. I think that having a Halloween party is a great way to do all of those things without harming the public.
In my opinion high schoolers should not go trick-or-treating. They can scare little children, disrupt the neighborhood, and take trick-or-treating for granted. I believe that high schoolers are capable enough to just walk or drive to the store and buy over 100 pieces of candy in 10 minutes instead of spending 3 hours getting the same amount of candy. In conclusion, I think that the end of middle school is the appropriate time to stop trick-or-treating and that high schoolers should just stay home.
Dillyn, you said that parents should take their children trick-or-treating and yes kids shouldn’t be scared by strangers. You stated teens should stay in their neighborhood and buy two dollars worth of candy at the store. I don’t really get what you mean. You said everything I said and tried to argue with me. Um ok? Here in some families the parents don’t participate in Halloween and don’t want to take their little ones trick-or-treating. So if your parents don’t do that umm who’s gonna take them? Oh right, their big siblings. Then you said to buy two dollars worth of candy at the store. Why? Does there have to be a price range? Maybe someone wants to buy one-hundred dollars of candy. As you stated that, you stated to stay in your own neighborhood. Why can’t we cross a 30 house boundary? We do this for a full bucket not a fourth of one. So I see that you agree with me, so I don’t see what your argument is. I think you kind of wasted your time.
Alex G. rebuttal against Dawson w Green core per 2 Dawson you have great points but I simple just disagree with your ideas. My first reason is that kids just cant go out and buy candy by themselves. Also High Schoolers should not be trick-or-treating at their age. Lastly high schoolers don't party that much as they wish they did. First of all dawson, kids can't just go out buy candy. You said “ after about 5 hours of trick-or-treating you get the same about of candy as a few bucks of candy from the store”. What your telling me is that on average kids get around around 50 to 100 pieces of candy. I have to disagree with that because a few years ago I got 200 pieces candy from around half the time you suggest (approximately 5 hours). Besides with only a few bucks you can’t buy a fourth of the candy you could get. Secondly they should not be trick-or-treating at there age. They start to become immature and do things that they are not supposed to. Besides I don't think they are many teens trick-or-treating. I do agree with that it would be weird but, we see them all the time so that it wouldn't be as weird as you suggest it would be. How many people do egged or toilet papered on halloween? Is it 10, 20, 30 I have no idea. Also scaring kids is a problem because if they scare an innocent child that might ruin their halloween night and maybe lead them to start scaring people as well. Lastly teens should not be parting at there age. They are too young to be going to parties, especially if they are on school days. You said “A party would be ten times better than trick-or-treating”. How so is it better than trick-or-treating, you don't have a supporting detail to say why its is better than trick-or-treating. I don’t have an idea why it is better than trick-or-treating. To conclude Dawson kids/teens should have stopped a few years ago. First because they can't just go out and buy candy for themselves because their parents might not allow it. Next they should have not been trick-or-treating at least since 5th to 6th grade. Lastly they should have never be going to parties especially since they are just in middle school. To sum it up, Dawson you had great points but I have disagree with you.

Halloween debate
I strongly believe that around the end of 8th grade that kids should stop trick-or-treating. My first reason is that kids/teens start to wear immature costumes.

Halloween Debate
I celebrate halloween every year, but it has occurred to me that people should stop going “trick or treating” at the age of 13
My main reason why the teens take all of the candy before anyone gets there.

Halloween Debate

The only hardcore exception that comes to mind: If you are an adult and your costumed presence scares the house owners for their safety and their valuables, then take the hint and stick to the adult Halloween.

halloween debate: initial post

Argument against Mykaela B.

Aleyah W.
Bailey S.(responding to Jonathan G. in green core)
Trick-or-treating should stop after elementary school.
Jonathan G. had some good ideas on why people should stop trick-or-treating at 21, but kids should stop trick-or-treating even earlier.

And I don’t agree with how us older kids will get board of trick-or-treating. Also the neighbors will become frustrated. I must argue with you about some of your points about trick-or-treating.

Argument Post Against Selah F.

Argument against Capri W.
Capri, although your points are valid I disagree because just because they’re older doesn't mean they are going to scare kid or wear inappropriate costumes or take all the candy not everyone is the same

rebuttal against Mitchell A.

Halloween can't last forever so stop at fourteen.

halloween debate: rebuttal against riley w.

Hadley T. rebuttal against Mikayla B.

Rebuttal against Dillyn S.
Alex G. rebuttal against Dawson w
Green core per 2
Dawson you have great points but I simple just disagree with your ideas.
