I believe that people should stop trick-or-treating after their sophomore year in high school I believe this because no person is too old for the funness of halloween, the candy, and the costumes.
One of my three important reasons is that kids should still be able to have fun on halloween even though their in high school.Kids have the right to have fun its not illegal for them too trick-or-treat yet so take advantage of that right and have fun not by egging or toilet papering someones house but simply by going around and asking for candy not demanding but simply asking.
The next important reason is That some kids parents want their teen to take them trick-or-treating because they can't for some reason I won’t explain because there are so many, but some people don’t like teens trick-or-treating so they won’t give either the kids or the teen candy and that is not fair to the children or child.
Last and certainly most important is safety of the child. Teens can protect themselves so they don’t need their big brother or big sister to protect but kids on the other hand can not protect themselves and so they can’t go out trick-or-treating by themselves because they might be kidnapped and could not do anything about it or they could be raped or molested or even worse abused all by someone they don't know.
So I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the age of 15 or 16 or their sophomore year because no person is too old for the funkiness of that dressing up in a goofy costume and getting candy spirit.
Many people stop trick-or-treating at many different ages. They stop trick-or-treating when they get out of elementary school, middle school, or high school. Now, I’m going to tell you at what age I think people should stop trick-or-treating. I think kids should stop trick-or-treating around age 16. I say we should stop at age 16 because teenagers start being more devious and dress-up inappropriately. They are immature and do not even go out for candy, they do it to traumatize little kids who just wanted to have fun on halloween night. Doing that leads the little kids to do the exact same thing the older kids did to them. Teenagers around age 16 only ruin childrens’ childhood fun. A great reason I think kids should stop trick-or-treating at age 16 is that they just bother adults and their homes late at night. They go knock on your door at 11:30 at night just for candy, when they know the candy is probably all out. Why can’t they just go to Safeway and buy a pack of candy corn? Yes, I know trick-or-treating is fun, but to do that you have to be mature enough to dress up and do it at the appropriate time. My last and final reason of why I think kids should stop trick-or-treating at age 16 is that they don’t even try to dress up. They wear a tiger animal hat and say, “Roar! I’m a tiger!”. Do you see what I mean when I say that they don’t even try? Wearing a hat is not a costume. A complete costume is shoes, makeup, outfit, and hair Those are a few reasons why I think kids should stop trick-or-treating at age 16. Teenagers at that age can be immature and irresponsible at times, which is not good when trick-or-treating. They disturb adults and little kids on their fun halloween night. Teenaged kids might dress up inappropriately. To prevent this, lets all stop trick-or-treating at age 16 and pass out candy instead and bring smiles to kids faces.
Halloween Debate By Isabel H. Mr.Masenhimer Green Core
My perspective about when you stop trick or treating is on different levels because of my religion. My religion is christian so my family has never gone trick-or-treating, or dressed up for halloween. So because of this I have no idea of what its like so to me right now I think it’s all about having fun. Because of this my opinion stands at you should stop after high school. My first reason is that not everybody be’s scary or eggs ,or toilet papers houses. besides most high schoolers just want to have fun with their friends and have a good time. Also some just stop anyways at the end of middle school because they think that they’re too old or mature enough to go trick-or-treating so they stay home. Some people still want to do trick-or-treating . They may just want to have fun with their friends and have a good time. When they grow up they get more mature so most likely they just have parties. Those parties may be scary but it’s also all about having fun with their friends. Most likely they won’t egg or toilet paper houses or steal candy. Lots of high schoolers quit when they get to that age. They may still dress up but they like staying home and passing out candy to little kids. they may just want to see how cute the little kids are and recollect their past. But because of my belief and not getting to go I think that this is a fair argument. they may want to quit, just have fun, and not do anything like egging or toilet papering house’s. This all leads up to my final answer to end at high school. Not everybody may agree with me but this is my perspective so I will respect yours like you should do to mine. This is because nobody has the exact same thought about anything besides it’s your choice when to stop.
Halloween is getting near and the time to get out and start going door to door asking everyone for candy. But there is always a time when we get to old to do things, and one of those those things is to go to every door in the neighborhood on halloween beginning for some candy. I think that when you turn the age of 21 you need to stop trick-or-treating.Because you know have a license and it will take out all of the fun of walking around in the middle of the night. Also when you turn 21 you are practically an adult and all that you will be taking candy from some random little kids. Some old people like to just push people auot of the way,and some just myte spend the day and night just pranking people that pass by their hous. Some people could just by some candy from the store instead of takeing it from some rondom litle kids.It can save them the time trieing to find a costom, and you woent have to stand autside in the cold weather. And since some tenagers do not brush their teeth which could lead to a bunch of bacteria in them. Also all of the sugar could keep you awake as well as the sugar in the candy can rot your teeth. The time to go to houses asking for kandy is near, but there is always a time for everyone to stop and my opinion is that every person should stop at around the age of 21. and i think that, because at that age you are now practically an adult and you would have better things to do than going to people’s houses in the middle of the night.
I celebrate Halloween, but I would say kids should stop trick-or- treating at the age of fifteen. I will tell you more reasons why I want kids to stop at the age of fifteen. Kids should stop trick-or-treating at the age at fifteen. I think they should because they’re too old enough to trick-or-treat, and some others kids like to trick-or-treat just for the candy. Anyway I still don’t get It why they still trick-or-treat, they could just buy a bag of candy at the store instead of trick-or-treating so they could let some candies to the little kids. In other words, when they trick-or-treat they will get a lot of candies and when the little kids trick-or-treat they will have less candies and in my opinion I’ll say that’s not fair for a really young child I think it should be the opposite. Next I want to talk about is how many hours will they spend trick-or-treating during Halloween? Approximately they will trick-or-treat for few hours which for me that’s just wasting time I would just hang out in my house and enjoy eating some bag of candies until I’m full. My last reason is what costumes will they wear? I’m thinking they will wear frightening and weird costumes which mostly that will make little kids scared during Halloween. Also I wanted to say is people should stop celebrating after age fifteen because If they still celebrated It makes feel like they’re still in Elementary and trick-or-treating for candies. In conclusion, you guys should agree with me. Remember guys when you get at the age of fifteen you guys should act a little of growns up. Even though, I would recommend you to read my ideas why people at the age of fifteen should stop trick-or-treating.
This is my third year of Halloween. I really do wish I could go more, and that’s why I think you should go until High School. As a 12 year old that is a lot of years that I have missed out on. So I was thinking why not just expand your time a little longer?
Halloween is a fun excuse to dress up and get free candy. That leads me onto my first reason. There are little kids experiencing their first Halloween but there are also teens experiencing their lasts. This holiday is fun to hang out with friends, relax, and not have to worry about taking candy from strangers. It’s basically doing everything your parents said not to do.`
Not every one is the same. I have read enough articles about teens scaring young ones. Sure scaring someone is fun every once in a while but some people don’t enjoy hurting another person’s feelings. For one I don’t like scaring people as much. And it’s not like there going to waste the majority of their time hiding and waiting for a poor old victim to walk by anyways.
This is my third and final reason. Their growing older by the second and you want to squeeze every last exciting moment out of life. Halloween is one of the best holidays of the year in my opinion. On this special day people get to dress up as others that you admirer, what their dreams are, their fantasy land and by the end of the night you have a sack full of delicious treats to munch on until christmas. As they trick-or-treat their brains fill up on ideas of what they want to be once out of high school.
I think you should go trick-or-treating up until the end of high school because it is a fun way to hang out with friends, squeeze every exciting droplet out of life and explore their imaginations just before leaving to college. In conclusion Halloween is fun to do up until the high school is over and is one of the last day’s you can take candy safely from strangers.
I believe you should stop trick-or-treating after your first year of high school. And these are my three reasons why I think so.
One argument is that I think you should get to celebrate your last year of trick-or-treating with the first year of high school. At the end of middle school you think you need to stop. You get all upset, but if you ask me you can stop after the first year of high school. I think you should stop at high school because high school is where you're throwing parties but the first year you don't want to give up trick-or-treating just yet. Also if you throw parties all of high school it will get boring, and you wont party when you're older and in college where there real parties
I also think you should stop the first year of high school is that high school is where you get the good costumes that are more detailed. If you want detailed costumes high school is when your going to get them. You want to use your first detailed costume during trick-or-treating so the grown ups give you a lot of candy. Thats good because they will give you the over sized ones and even sometimes the whole bowl. Oh ya you will get so much candy.
My other argument that I think you should stop the first year of high school is that your first year of high school is special around the holidays. Its so special that you and your friend are just going to want to go out and score on some free candy you know.
You and your friend/friends aren't going to want to start all your parties right of the bat. You're going to want to spend it with yourself your friend/friends and a big giant pillow case of candy (trick-or-treating)
All and all your first year of high school you're going to spend trick-or-treating because you don't need to be sad the last year of high school, you get good detailed costumes, and its a special holiday and you want to trick-or-treat.
Kade V. from red core said I think that kids should stop trick-or- treating by high school because the older kids take the most of the candy from us younger kids and that ruins all the fun for the younger kids.
The basic reasons for this is because, one thing is that the older kids take all the candy form the littler kids. Two all the kids’ fun will get ruined by the older kids by scaring them into thinking that's it’s bad to go trick- or-treating.Last is that it gives the older kids a bad reputation for themselves in which at school they get in trouble by the older siblings.
Back to reason one;the older kids or high schoolers will just steal all the younger kids candy from the houses which ruins their experience of trick- or- treating. Also the kids that were looking forward to trick-or- treating will just be disappointed at the fact that they have been waiting all year for the experience of trick or treating.
that's why i don't think that high schoolers should stop trick-or-treating.
My second to the last reason; is that all the kids’ fun will be ruined by the fact the the older kids will scare the crap out of those little kids’. Which will also ruin their Halloween.Which i think is pretty bad as the fact its halloween and that will just suck for that kid or all of the the kids’.Also kid’s will be sad and disappointed and then they will get very very sad.
that's why i don't think that high schoolers should not trick-or-threat.
My third and final reason;is that scareing littel kids gives the high schoolers a bad reputation. And the reason why they would get a bad rep.Is because the younger kids would tell their siblings about how this person stoll all the candy form the houses’ that they went to+that they would also say that the older kids scared the crap out of them.
In conclusion i do not think that high schoolers should be able to trick-or-treat because of the the bad that they can do to the younger kids’ experience.
I do celebrate Halloween, and I have been trick-or- treating since I was 5 years old. Now I’m 12. So here are some reasons why people should cut down on halloween for older age groups( or until you 16):
Halloween should still go on for kids is because you have all the excitement waiting for you, but when you are 16 and older, you can get your own candy and give out the candy to the other smaller kids. If you were one of those kids, you would want the candy that is being handed out.
One of the reasons why Halloween should still continue( or until 16) is because you can get free candy. Also kids can't go to the store and get your own candy. Why I recommend 16 is the limit is because so older kids don’t take advantage over other little kids’. You don’t know if the oldest kids would take the candy and drug the candy and give them back to them or even drug the candy so they can drug him are herself.
My final reason why Halloween should be cut down around the age of 16 is because it takes all the fun out of trick-or treating if the teens get all the candy so there is no candy for littler kids. One thing is, when the older the kids get, the scarier the kids’ costumes get. When you're 5 or so, you dress up like the teenage ninja turtles, I know because my brother was last year, and when they turn older, they want to be chucky or Friday the 13th, or something like that. That means that the kids would go inside and not come out because they are too scared to Trick-or-treat.Then they get there parents out and then it always turns out badly.
I do celebrate Halloween, and I do go trick-or-treating, but when you get to old, you should cut down on trick-or-treating. One thing you should remember is: don’t go out to scare a bunch of little kids. You don't know, you might-off made a kids first halloween horrible.
I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. It would be too old for kids to trick-or-treat in high school. That is my belief, and I think that after reading my reasons that you to will agree. Here are my three reasons.
If all the older kids took all the candy then there would be no more for the younger kids. Isn't trick-or-treating more for the little kids anyways? I understand that it is fun to get free candy even for the high schoolers. Even though it is fun to trick-or-treat it would still be fun to hand out candy and see all the little kids cool costumes. I think that would be even more fun that trick-or-treating. Besides if there was any left over candy you would get you would get to have it.
Then there are older kids out there that like to scare little kids. Halloween is supposed to be a fun holiday. If older kids scare the younger kids then they might be to scared to go trick-or-treating. You can still dress up if you hand out candy. You can also decorate your house real spooky. For me I would hand out candy anyway. I Love the kids” face when they get a candy bar.
Also, adults might be upset if an older kid shows up at their doorstep in search of candy. They might have not bought enough candy for both younger kids and older kids. Think about it, if you handing out candy to little kids and a teenager shows up and takes a bunch of candy. I would be upset to.
In conclusion I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. There would be no more candy if all the older kids took it all. Older kids would scare all the younger kids. You can't forget that adults would be upset if a bunch of teenagers showed up at your doorstep.

I think that people should stop “receiving” candy around the beginning of high school.People can keep on dressing up,but they probably should not take candy.
High school teens can take a lot of candy from the candy bin.The size of the high school teens hands are pretty big,so they can take large amounts.H.S.(high school teens) can also move faster, and they know the area more,so they can get to the pieces of candy before kids. The kiddies are left with double emptiness.(because the H.S. have larger hands and can travel faster)The kiddies go home to see their older sister or bro eating the candy they should have had,so they rage on them.
Little siblings need to be protected by H.S..What if a candy robber comes out and takes the candy that they took from their older siblings that they raged on to get the candy? What if a school bully comes up and you’re not there to protect them? What if they get scared to death by your friend that was angry at you for not hogging all the candy for yourself with him the last Halloween? You need to protect your younger sibling for him or her(more specifically, probably because your mom said you have to).
My last and most important reason is how H.S. can jump/scare the younger kids that are trying to have fun with their bros.H.S.can jump-scare them hard enough, that the little-es would drop his or her candy bag and would start crying. You don’t want to ruin their Halloween, would you?(if it’s your little sister or brother, that is the same, and if you do want to scare the Halloween spirit out of them, you’re crazy).
Once again, I think that you should stop trick-or-treating when you are in high school because it would not be fair for the kids to get no candy. It would not be fair for the kids to be alone in the dark getting candy most likely stolen from the school bully too.Lastly, the H.S. could scare the fun out of Halloween for the kids. The H.S. can still dress up,but they would have to stay with their siblings, and if they don’t have siblings, help out with handing candy.
Josh M. Masenhimer Red Core initial post Halloween Debate
I believe that people should stop trick-or-treating by the time they’re done with their first year of high school. My reasons for thinking this because by this age they’re going throw toilet paper on someone house. They could also and probably will scare all the little kids in their superhero costume that won’t get them very much candy . Which brings me to my next point with the small amount of candy the kids are going to get they could get less if teenagers take it al.
My initial reason for thinking this is because the teenagers may throw toilet paper who can’t afford good candy so she is handing out candy from dollar tree. The problem with that is the old lady is going to have to clean by herself which may take until next halloween. The kids will maybe even scary the lady so much that she drops the candy which may end up with the same result.Do you want to see a women take toilet paper off her house and clean up egg off her windows. That is my first reseason for thinking people should stop trick-or-treating when they’re done with their first year of high school.
An alternative reason for my thinking of why people should stop trick-or-treating by the end of their first year of high school is because they may scare little kids with their costumes. The with scaring little kids with their costumes is that it will ruin their Halloween. When you scare them they may drop their bags and run away from you because you’re the most terrifying thing that these little superheros or vampire monsters. They will be scared and will not want to go trick-or-treating ever again.that’s another reason people should stop trick-or-treating in high school.
My concluding is reason for my thinking is with the little kids they don’t scare won’t have any candy in their bag.The problem in doing that is that they are willing to go out in the cold just to get enough candy to make them sick just so they don’t have to go to school the next day.So you are also helping them by making them not eat to much candy but you are crushing their souls.that is the final reasoning for this.
I think people should stop trick-or-treating by the time they’re done with their first year of school. My reasons for thinking this is because you may throw toilet paper at houses. They may also scare little kids and amke it so they have no candy because teenager take it all.
Halloween Debate By Diego A. Mr.masenhimer Green core 10/17/13
I celebrate Halloween with my family every year, ever since I was young and I find it boring now because i'm getting older, and I have been “Trick -or- Treating” all my life. Now its harder to find a costume that I like and haven't been before. I also think that people should stop “Trick -or- Treating at the age of 14 -16, 16 max.
My first concern is is that at the end of middle school you are a lot taller and you have bigger hands so you can grab more and candy. (Supporting detail one) Older kids can take more candy with larger hands, while smaller kids take less candy with smaller hands. (Supporting detail two) Is that I once saw some teens taking handfuls of candy, and some little kids came along and asked for some candy but only crumbs were left.
My second concern is that sometimes when teens go “Trick -or- Treating they TP (TP = toilet paper) peoples houses. (Supporting detail one) I once saw some teens and other people Toilet Papering someones house and the owner got really mad and chased them away when he walked back to his house and was grumbling all the way back about how long it was going to take him to clean it. (Supporting detail two) At my dads house for fun me and some friends TPd my garage with my dads OK and it took minutes to do it, and it took hours to cleanup.
My third and final concern is that some 14 - 16 year olds wear scary costumes and scare kids. (Supporting detail one) Once I saw some people in costumes and they were using them to scare families. (Supporting detail two) At my friend annual halloween party we have a scarring contest for who has the best costume and who can scare the most people and we scared someone so badly that they cried.
And now my conclusion, as to tie it all up first i had size of body and hands older kids getting more and little kids getting less. Second I had people having their house covered in Toilet Paper and getting mad at the people who had his house Toilet Papered. Last but not least my third reason, is that some older kids scare smaller kids and adults.
How Old Should Kids Be When They Stop Trick-or-Treating?
How old is too old to be trick-or-treating? In my opinion kids should stop trick or treating a bit after they finish high school. Once they are older they can go to the store and get some candy, but if they’re smart they will save their money for a car. If they go with a group of friends they will most likely act differently and probably start shoving kids out of your way to get some of that candy. The people handing out the candy will see them being mean and not give them candy.
First of all by the time kids graduate high school they will be old enough to go drive to the store and buy some candy for themselves, friends, or family. This will save more candy for the younger kids, because the kids need good memories of halloween. The kids without a car could be smart and save their money for a car, because a car is more important than candy.
Also, when older kids or adults are trick-or-treating they could freak out the little kids by how big they are or their costumes could be too scary to bear. Some of their friends could think they’re weird because they still trick-or-treat. Most adults like to dress profound but the kids do not like that and they could not be scarred for life.
Finally, older kids, when they’re with their friends, act differently like shoving kids out of the way to have the candy, stealing candy from little kids, etcetera, just being mean to the little ones. The people handing out the candy would most likely not give them candy.
How old is too old to be trick-or-treating? In my opinion kids should stop trick or treating a bit after they finish high school. If they go with a group of friends they will most likely act differently and probably start shoving kids out of your way to get some of that candy. This is what I think about how old kids should be when they stop trick-or-treating.
Diego. A Green Core Halloween Debate Mr. Masenhimer Argument against Jonathan G Green Core
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Halloween comes around every year, and there are a lot of exciting thing about Halloween. For example Halloween parties, haunted houses, dressing up in costumes, and “Trick -or- Treating”.
I think that you have some good points, but I disagree with you about the “Trick -or- Treating” age. I think that people should stop “Trick -or- Treating” when they are 14 -15 years old. Any older than that takes away from younger kids.
“Trick -or- Treating” is for young kids and is about dressing up in a costume and showing it off. The candy is the fun part of the holiday. When older kids go “Trick -or- Treating” they run and it could be dangerous because they might run over someone. Older kids like to run to the next house, and the next, and the next etc... and it’s just about the candy.
When you are 16 or older you can get a part time job. When you have a part time job, you will get paid and have money to get your license so you can drive. Also you will have money to buy candy and have time to go to the store. If you go “Trick-or-Treating” when you are 16 it is as good as taking away candy from little kids.
Overall Halloween is about showing off your costume and “Trick-or-Treating” all that's for the younger kids. It’s also about having fun and going to Halloween parties and other things like that for older kids. And that is why I think that teenagers should buy their own candy and not go “Trick-or-Treating” after they turn 16, because after that it’s like taking away from the little kids candy.
Halloween debate by:Sean A. Mr. Masenhimer 10/21/13 Initial Post
At the end of 8th grade I think that you should stop trick-or-treating. This is one of my beliefs because the older you get the more inappropriate your costume gets. And older teens tend to scare the younger kids.
When your young trick-or-treating is all about the candy and funny costume you have, yet when you're a teen its all about how inappropriate you can get or how bad you can scare the little kids. I think at the end of 8th grade you should stop because you don't need to be taking candy from houses and not letting the young kids have any. If you were smart you would go buy your own candy.
Another problem i have is why would the parents let their teen dress so inappropriate. Why couldn’t the teen be handing out the candy instead of taking it. Plus teens have bigger hands so they can take more portions of the the cady, then the younger kids will have none to eat. Also the older you get your maturity level gets higher. Although, teens thinks it’s cool or funny to wear inappropriate costumes or scare 6 year old kids.
Even though tick-or-treating is fun teens should stop at the end of 8th grade,at 14 years old. Why spend your money on some costume that you're only going to wear for a couple of hours. Why not spend it on something cool that you will use . I mean yeah everyone wants candy, but sometimes you have to share.
To sum it all up I do think teen should stop trick-or-treating at the end of 8th grade, 14 years old. These are some of my thoughts that I have for when to stop trick-or-treating. There is a time and a place to stop trick-or-treating,why not now?
Mitchell Mr.Masenhimer Green Core 10/22/2013 Argument Against Mikayla B.
Mikayla, your ideas are good, but I think that trick-or-treating is more of a holiday that you should stop doing after middle school. I agree that you should still have fun in high school, but many people will take advantage of what they can do like egging someones house. Also people hate it when teens come to their door. Even if they have kids they would give the kids candy but not the teenager. For your last reason I agree that the child should be safe so the kid could go up to the door with the teen standing on the sidewalk outside. That is why I think that you should stop trick-or-treating in middle school.
In high school you can have lots of fun other ways then trick-or-treating. For example they could go to the skate park. There’s not just halloween for a holiday, so they could play a prank that doesn’t hurt anyone on April Fools Day. Also many teens will egg peoples houses and run. Most people should be mature enough to do that but some might. In high school there is many more fun ways than just trick-or-treating.
I agree that teens should take their younger siblings out on Halloween, but they should not ask people for candy they should just stand there and wait for their younger brother or sister and then take them to the next house. If they're going to dress up they should at least wear something appropriate for little kids, and it should not be disturbing. Also if they see the teens walk up to the door they will not give the teen or kid candy. That will make the kid mad and not want you to come trick-or-treating with them again next year. That is why teens should take their brother and sister trick-or-treating, but not go up to the door with them.
Halloween is not always the safest holiday, but if you go with a group there is nothing to worry about. If just a teen takes a child most people would just go with many people and kidnap both the kid and the teen. Usually Halloween is mostly safe because there is lots of people around. That is why Halloween is great for kids to go with groups and then they don't need their bigger brother or sister to come with them.
I like your ideas, but I think you should stop trick-or-treating when you are out of middle school. You should have fun with your friends but you should not have fun by trick-or-treating. People also hate teens coming and knocking on their door at 12:00. Also your child should be safe and they can do that by going with a group. That is why you should stop trick-or-treating when you are in middle school not high school.

And that is why I think that teenagers should buy their own candy and not go “Trick-or-Treating” after they turn 16, because it’s like taking away from the little kids candy.
Argument Against Mikayla B. Mackenzie R. Green Core Mr Masenhimer 10/22/13
Mikayla you have some really terrific reasons on why you should stop trick-or-treating after your sophomore year but I disagree with you.
Yeah teens should still celebrate halloween I agree with that, but they can do anything to celebrate halloween like they can decorate their house and have a halloween party, or they can go to the movies and see a scary movie,or they can stay home and hand out candy for all the little kids.Like me, This halloween my aunt is having a halloween party at my house a couple days before halloween and on halloween I am either going to the movies or staying home to pass out candy I don’t know yet. Anyways there is all sorts of different ways you can celebrate halloween. That is my first reason why high schoolers shouldn’t go trick-or-treating.
My next reason is the little kids. Do you have a little brother or sister look at how tiny their hands are. It won’t be fair for the little ones because the teens take too much and kids only have such little hands. Little kids love candy but they love halloween even more and if they go trick-or-treating and get know candy what will happen?Exactly they will probably not go trick-or-treating next year. That would just be sad for the little kids not to celebrate halloween. The teens don’t even think about how they might stop little kids from going trick-or-treating just think about it.
Finally the most important thing about teens going trick-or-treating is the candy. Most teens only go trick-or-treating because of all the free candy. They don’t even celebrate halloween they just want candy and to be inappropriate. They think it’s funny to just take candy and to wear really bad costumes. They just aren’t celebrating the halloween spirit.
In conclusion, celebrating halloween different ways, little kids not getting enough candy, and being inappropriate, and just taking candy. That is why I disagree that teens should be allowed to trick-or-treat.
Curtis your Ideas are really interesting, but I still disagree with you that teenagers should stop at the age of sixteen. My first reason is by the time you get to fifteen years of age kids you should stop trick-or-treating not sixteen. My second reason is when you get to sixteen should trick-or-treating continue? My last reason is should Halloween still continue just because of free candy. When kids turn fifteen they should be able to stop trick-or-treating not sixteen. The reason I say this is because when you get to sixteen that’s when you start thinking of getting a car, and when you’re fifteen you can’t because you’re too young to get it. These are one of the examples I’m talking about. My second thought is when you get to sixteen should trick-or-treating continue. Well Guess what you’re wrong Curtis I do not agree with you when you get to sixteen trick-or-treating should continue. It should not continue because when big kids go to trick-or-treating they might have some huge hands. With me that’s not ok because they can get almost the rest of the candy which the little kids won’t get that many candy to eat. My very last argue with your essay is should Halloween still continue because of free candy? My answer is no, Halloween should not continue because of free candy. You can just buy a big bag of candies at the store instead of not letting little kids grab that many candy. In my last point of you is you made a lot of great ideas, but I’m sorry I still disagree with you that kids should stop at the age of sixteen. What a really big mistakes from you! Another reason is when you get to sixteen trick-or-treating should not continue. My Lastly reason is also Halloween should not continue because of free candy.
Mikayla, you have lots of really good ideas, however I disagree that trick-or-treating should end in high school. My first reason is that most high schoolers aren’t mature enough to enjoy dressing up without causing trouble. My next reason is that even though refusing to give high schoolers candy can seem harsh, adults just want there to be enough candy for the littler kids to have some. My last argument is that a lot of kids don’t have older siblings to take them trick-or-treating.
First of all, yes, it would be awesome if all teens followed the rules on Halloween (and some do), but most teens don’t. In my opinion, teenagers just aren’t mature enough to not cause trouble on Halloween. Even if they start out having innocent fun, teenagers will more likely than not end up doing things that are a bad example to small children.
Secondly, I realize that adults refusing to give teenagers candy may seem harsh, but they just want to make sure that the littler kids will have enough candy. Also, teenagers have much larger hands than small kids do. Therefor, they can get twice or even three times as much candy as the kids can get in their tiny hands. It totally stinks being the kid that knocks on somebody’s door and hears the words “sorry, we are all out of candy” .
My final argument is that a lot of kids don’t have older sibling to take them trick-or-treating. On Halloween you do have to be very careful about the child’s safety. However, if the kid doesn’t have older siblings to take them trick-or-treating, couldn’t their parents just take them?
High schoolers shouldn’t be trick-or-treating. This is because a lot of high schoolers aren’t mature enough to cause trouble. It is also because adults want to make sure that the littler kids will all get candy. Lastly, this is because a lot of kids don’t have older siblings to take them trick-or-treating.
Jake you have a point to some of your reasons, but to stop when you are done with Freshmen year is way too late. I mean you can still trick-or-treat but it is kind of weird for a high schooler to be dressing up and asking strangers they don't know for candy. So I will explain to you why I disagree with you.
Ok yeah, you can trick-or-treat when you are in high school. But if you are doing it for the candy you can buy your own. Parents don’t get very happy when there are high schoolers knocking on their doors for candy when there are some little kids that all they want to do is have fun. So basicly nothing stops you from trick-or-treating, but it is just a childish thing.
You have a good reason with the costumes but why does it matter how detailed it is or not. These costumes are most likely only going to be worn once, and if you have frightening costumes or mask you can scare young children like your little brother.
The third reason you said that High Schoolers should not trick-or-treat so you just disagreed with yourself so I don't know what to say.
So now I hope you understand why trick-or-treating in High School is way too old. Because really all they want is candy. And some psycho’s like to scare young children too and that is weird.
Riley, your ideas were great but I still believe that kids should stop trick-or treating at the end of middle school. First of all if we all took the candy there would be no more for the little kids. I understand that it would be fun to dress up and all, but you could just dress up when you hand out candy. Don't you think thats fair? It would be letting all of the little kids get candy first. Besides if there was any candy left over after handing it out then it would be all yours.
Second of all, I think that its great that you don't like to scare little kids as much. You know that there are some people out there who do though. To prevent that I say that we should stop high schoolers from trick-or-treating. Do you agree Riley? What makes up for all the years of not trick-or-treating is seeing all the little kids” faces when you give them candy.
My last reason is that grown ups could get upset if they saw a teenager at their doorstep begging for candy. They might have only bought enough candy for the younger kids. Yes its fair for some of the high schoolers to want to still dress up and have that last drop of excitement, but we still have dress up don't we? That last drop of excitement can be used in many other ways. Do you see what im saying?
I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. My first reason is that there would be no more candy for the little kids. My second reason is that people like to scare little kids. My third reason is that grown ups could get upset if teenagers show up at their doorstep. thank you for reading my post.
Riley, although your arguments are very persuading, I still don't agree that teens should trick-or-treat through high school. I understand that you’re not one of those loud teenagers that marches through everyone to get candy, but most people are like that. And those who are stand out a lot more to the parents and children, which doesn't make them happy. Another argument I have about your essay is that people tend to enjoy frightening others these days. Riley, even you stated that you have read enough articles about teens scaring the younger ones. My last observation is that if you’re trying to squeeze every exciting droplet out of life you might as well have a party or go to one. Like I said, you’re not the type of person who likes to steal things from others, but a lot of people find it easier than going door-to-door. Riley, you could just throw a party to keep the other teens from doing that.
The loud, conspicuous teens that forge ahead of the smaller children don’t set a good example for anybody around them. They're showing all the people around them that it is okay to do that, when it’s obviously not. Teens speed past everyone because they want to get the candy first, and they usually have bigger hands, so they grab more candy and soon there’s not enough for the younger kids. Those are the teens that stand out to the parents. Sure, the parents will think of you as a good example, if they notice you. Parents usually just point out what not to do and they're kids should get the memo. Some teenagers do hide behind something just to startle some children. Even if you're not like that, plenty teens are.
That leads me to teens scaring other people. Some people really don't like it when they scare others. Maybe they don't like it because they've been scared before or just because they simply are good people. But there's also those who enjoy it. Its entertaining for them to see people be scared especially if its someone they know and don't like. People these days aren't like they were 50 years ago, they changed, society changed, everything changed. Teens will most likely do it to impress their friends; they go along with everyone else because they want to be considered “cool”.
If you're trying to squeeze every last exciting droplet out of life, then you could just have a party or go to a party because if people tick-or-treating see a really tall person or a person that looks older than them, they get scared and try to avoid you. I've never seen a parent say that someone can't have candy, but I have seen people not dress up at all. High school students tend to just go for the candy and not show any spirit. Most young kids gave up believing in The Easter Bunny and Santa Claus so why don’t we let them have fun while they're still young? Having a party or going to one is more exciting than walking door-to-door for three hours. I’m even thinking of throwing a party when I stop trick-or-treating. If you're not a party person, then you, Riley, could invite some friends over, buy your own candy and watch movies while pigging out on junk food. Why spend three hours trick-or-treating for candy when you could go to the store and buy it yourself in fifteen minutes? Riley, your thoughts are very impressive, but I still don't agree. You may not be the obnoxious teen, but there's many out there. They like to scare others for their entertainment. Riley, wouldn't it be awkward if you saw someone that you know handing out candy and they're like “You still do this?”. Lastly, why not have a party instead of ruining the younger ones’ Halloween? Throwing a party can keep other teens from going out and causing trouble; let the smaller children enjoy it while they're young. Halloween has to end sometime for people and I think that time is after middle school.

bailey S. core red said... Bailey S.(responding to Jonathan G. in green core) Trick-or-treating should stop after elementary school.
Jonathan G. had some good ideas on why people should stop trick-or-treating at 21, but kids should stop trick-or-treating even earlier. After elementary is when people become teenagers and young adults so it would be the perfect time to stop trick-or-treating. Is Halloween trick-or-treating made for kids or for young adults?
You pointed out that 21 year old people already have their license but people get their license long before. Just at the age of 18 people can already start voting so they should not be trick-or-treating at this age. At age 20 people are already starting to drink which could cause problems for young trick-or-treaters. You don’t want people who could possibly be drunk to be trick-or-treating.
Young adults can misbehave while trick-or-treating but so can middle schoolers. A lot of the time youth feel like they need to be cool which can lead to them pranking and intimidating others while trick-or-treating. Teenagers are even more likely to prank and goof around than young adults because they are still maturing. Middle schoolers can even have it be their goal to intimidate others by their costumes and behavior.
Candy can damage people’s teeth at all ages. The age where cavities is a big problem is in middle school. As middle schoolers are still maturing they can forget to brush their teeth and forget to think about what they can and cannot eat. The majority of people get their braces in middle school. If you have ever had braces, then you would know that with braces you have to be careful with certain food like sticky and hard candy. What would be the point to trick-or-treat for candy that is bad for your teeth?
People should not continue trick-or-treating up to 21 years old. Trick-or-treating up to 21 years old is immature. Young adults should not be trick-or-treating so they can prevent pranks and scaring innocent children. Candy can be a problem for middle schoolers so they should not continue the same problem until young adulthood. Stopping trick-or-treating after elementary prevents immature adults pranking and ruining other’s Halloweens.
Mikayla, you make some valid points but I still disagree that you should be able to Trick-Or-Treat in High School. Middle School is kinda pushing it but High School is too far for many reasons including that High schoolers tend to be trouble makers, They are way larger than everyone else, They tend to scare little kids for their own enjoyment.
I know that Trick-Or-Treating in High School is not illegal but it may cause others to become frustrated. Just think about it in middle school you’re still minors but in high school you’re almost an adult. Parents of the young children may become frustrated because High Schoolers tend to dress in inappropriate ways such as wearing scary costumes or clothing that is too revealing.
High Schoolers also tend to be mischievous. Its late at night and they are usually the ones to egg or toilet paper houses, steal candy, or many other things. There is only a few out of many that don’t act in this way. You can still have fun by watching scary movies with friends, having a halloween party, or handing out candy. You don’t have to wander the streets and scare little kids to receive enjoyment.
Yes I understand that some people have younger siblings. But if they do then I think they should not receive candy. If you take your siblings Trick-Or-Treating then maybe you can have some of their candy but not a whole basket for yourself. You stated that “it’s not fair” actually it is fair because at the end of middle school you have gotten to Trick-Or-Treat for about 8 years and so now its your siblings turn. Therefor you can take your younger siblings Trick-Or-Treating but you should not receive a basket of candy.
The safety of a child should not be a concern as the parents should be responsible and take their kids Trick-Or-Treating. The little kids even teens should not be alone or kidnapping, and assault will happen. Safety should not be a issue because their adult/guardian should be watching over them. There are bad people in this world therefore we must be cautious.
You make some valid points but I still disagree. My reasons being that people may become frustrated and that High schoolers are usually mischievous, Its unfair to receive candy if you’re taking your sibling Trick-Or-Treating, and lastly Safety should not be an issue.
liliana l. red core halloween debate:argument post against laura r.
Sorry but I have to disagree with you. Most teens start acting immature at 13.I do not think that kids should stop at 16. What I think is that kids should stop trick-or-treating at 13.
First of all most teens are always trick-or-treating with their group of friends.Which is mostly up to fourteen teens all in a group. And if they are in a big group of friends they most likely will race to door to door running over the little kids. Also if there is a group of teens and only 2 littler kids the teens will most likely run over them when running to door. When there is a candy giver who lets the kids get a handful of candy the teens will get more. Because of their bigger hands. Then when the littler kids come up they won`t even get a handful since the bigger kids got more than a little handful. So thats another reason why kids should stop trick-or-treating at thirteen. Well it is true that most kids just wear a hat and say “ i am a tiger”.But that happens with younger teens to. Last year when my mom and i were handing out candy there was lots of teens that only had a regular shirt and pants on. So most teens just want the candy. When a group of teens that did not have a costume on came to my door I did not give them any candy .I mean what is the point of halloween if people do not even dress up? Like I said, teens might run over the kids from running to door to door. They will get a lot of more candy since their hands are really big when grabbing a handful so the littler kids do not even get a little handful. Also the teens do not even dress up.They just wear a plain shirt and pants. Again I think that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the age of 13.
Mykaela B. (Mykie) -Red Core- Argument Against Mikayla B.
Mikayla, the reasons you chose are interesting, but I don’t think high schoolers should still be out and trick-or-treating. When they go out trick-or-treating, they take all of the candy. Most parents do want to have an older sibling look after the younger, but they don’t have to take candy. Lastly, when in a neighborhood trick-or-treating, there are so many people around you if need help. When teenagers go out trick-or-treating, they take most of the candy. Older kids have bigger hands and run around the neighborhood to get the candy before the younger kids can. Yes, they do have the right to, but it takes maturity and self-discipline to do the right thing. Besides, teenagers have parties they can go to anyway. I understand kids’ parents want the older child to take them trick-or-treating, but that doesn’t mean him/her has to get candy. They can walk up with them but don’t have to get candy. Again, maturity and self-discipline comes into play. Or they can watch their sibling walk up and walk back from the sidewalk. Another idea, is they can bring a friend or two with them to keep them company, but not peer pressure them into the candy. Of course safety is key when being anywhere, but there’s so many people around trick-or-treating, that there would be numerous amounts of people to help the child if that was to happen. To go along with that, there would be too many witnesses, so a kidnapper would be very idiotic to kidnap somebody with many witnesses around. Children should be taught to scream for help, and if they do, many people will come and help. Again, your reasons are good, but I don’t think high school kids should trick-or-treat. They usually take all the candy which leaves none or very little for the others. Just because the older sibling(s) are watching over the younger one(s), doesn’t mean they have to take candy too. Safety is always significant, but if younger children are taught proper things, then everything will be fine.
Jake you have a point to some of your reasons, but to stop when you are done with Freshmen year is way too late. I mean you can still trick-or-treat but it is kind of weird for a high schooler to be dressing up and asking strangers they don't know for candy. So I will explain to you why I disagree with you. Because older people don’t really like high schoolers going up to them asking for candy. And to detailed costumes could scare younger kids, and same with older people.
Ok yeah, you can trick-or-treat when you are in high school. But if you are doing it for the candy you can buy your own. Parents don’t get very happy when there are high schoolers knocking on their doors for candy when there are some little kids that all they want to do is have fun. On your third reason you said that you should stop because you could scare younger children. But you can scare them as easily as middle schoolers or even elementary schoolers. So stopping Freshman year will do no difference.
So now I hope you understand why trick-or-treating in High School is way too old. Because really all they want is candy. And some psycho’s like to scare young children too and that is weird.
Curtis .H. Argue post against Cristain .M. Red core Masenhimer
I disagree that fifteen is a good year to stop at. One thing is that it is a two year difference, Let them have two more year. But you can’t be too old to trick-or-treat. It’s just someone’s opinion that they should stop. They can be 30, and still trick-or-treat. Yeah I know it would be a little too old, but It’s there own choice. I think that 17 is a good year to stop. But thats my opinion.
Some kids don’t go out to get candy. They sometimes go out and scare other kids for their candy so they don’t have to go up to people’s house for candy. Some people won’t give candy to the oldest kids. So thats why they don’t go up the people’s house.
I disagree on the costumes part. They will get scarier when there age gets older. They start out as the Teenage mutant ninja turtles. But when they get older they start to get scarier. I was wanting to be something scary this halloween, but when I heard about this debate I thought to myself “ Do I want to go around and scare a bunch of little kids, NO!”
I was wanting to talk a little bit about candy. I didn't hear anything about the fact that some teens will take control over the little kids for their candy. Or even use their costumes for an distraction for their candy. The older kids might try to drug the candy and give it to the kids.
Like I said in the top of the argue, Its that persons chose if they want to stop trick-or treat. So I wouldn’t try to stop them from trick-or-treating. Then they will try to encourage the other people to stop trick-or-treating.604
Jonathan your ideas are great but I disagree that halloween trick-or-treating should stop at the age of twenty one. 1.At the age of twenty one they have bigger hands and use inpropiate costumes to scare of little kids. 2. They are adults now they can't be going door to door asking for candy it would look weird. 3. it would be unfair for the little kids not having candy and the adults having candy.
Jonathan If teens end trick-or-treating at the age of twenty one like you say they should it would be bad for the little kids not to get candy. Also the teens have huge hands so when they are going to grab the candy they are not going to grab one they are going to grab all of it. If the big kids grab everything what's gonna be left for the little kids? you should agree that it would be sad and depressing for little kids crying because they have no candy.
John i don’t for the teens taking their candy away and ruining the little kids night. They don't have to go door to door asking for candy they can just go somewhere else for candy or go to a restaurant and eat a nice dinner.
Theres one thing I don't agree John. I don’t i agree that teens don’t brush, but some do and yes their can rot and keep them awake till like 5a.m. in the morning. One last thing it would be unfair for the little kids not having candy and sad.
Thats why John, 21 year old people shouldn't stop trick-or-treating at the age of 21 they should stop earlier.
Baily thinks you should stop after high school I think you shouldn’t these are the reasons why you shouldn’t.
The first reason I think you should stop is because there are other little kids out there that don’t get candy cause you you take it all. I don’t think that is far they should get candy too. I mean don’t you think so? I do they are kids and they go out to get candy so when people set out a bowl of candy don’t take it all cause thats just rude. There are other little kids out there that deserve to get some too.
The next reason I think so is because halloween is a holiday where young kids go out and they get candy dressed up in their costums. when there parents are giving out candy to other little kids . Anyway’s the point about it is that’s is really old now. The point about halloween is to dress up go out and have fun and get candy don’t stop yet. Baily has some good points but she is missing a couple things.
The last reason I think you should stop before r high school is because your getting older and little kids deserve to get that candy that you got when you were young. Like when you were little you got candy too you got mad when older kids took all the candy from you so why do it back to them thats rude . I mean you are starting to go to halloween party’s. Now so like you don’t need to go out and get candy when you can hang with all your friends eat candy play games and have fun right?
This are the reasons i think you should stop after middle school.
The question “how old should kids be when they stop trick-or-treating?”, has been going around. My opinion about the subject may seem obscure to some people, but I think at the end of high school. Most kid when they get older are just trying to escape the pressure of the real world. I understand how some people don’t think it is right for people to keep trick-or-treating after 14,but if there not being inappropriate about their choices then why can't they go out to trick or treat. What if that older kid is going with there little sibling to protect them what happens then is someone going to tell him or her they can't be there? I believe it should end by the end of high school, because an adult trick-or-treating seems very immature.
Most older kids that are trying to escape the pressure of growing older are trying to have a little fun thats all. They have a hard life with the homework and essays it is the one time they can dress up to be whatever they want and have fun. If the intend to hurt or be immature with the holiday then they should have the privilege confiscated. I understand the pressure of the parent because they don't want their precious children scared by a teen. But some teens are responsible and respectful.
The teens can be very cruel to small children . They think it is funny to scare them but some of the teens care about the holiday. Some older kids go with their younger siblings. But teenagers have been only known to scare them. mostly if a teen wants to go trick-or-treating instead of buying the candy they really want the candy. Even though teens can be mean some of them aren’t so don’t take it away from all of them.
I understand how some people think it is immature of them but people need to have a little fun. When you become older the homework and essays pile up and you need a time to dress up. The days seem to be longer and the nights shorter but halloween is as long as you want it to seem. The night is full of candy screaming and hanging out. Any body should be able to join in on the fun.
“How old should kids be when they stop trick-or-treating”, has been coming up a lot.. I feel that it should be at the end of high school. That is when the trick-or-treating gets irresponsible and just immature. Most kids at the older age just think that that they can go buy wonderful candy at a store instead of walking around the neighborhood. That means the kids that do trick-or-treat are in for the fun of the holiday. i believe that at the end of high school is about the right age to stop trick-or-treating.
I disagree that you should stop trick-or-treating at the age of 16 because teens take all of the candy to ruin your Halloween separate, and teens take candy away from the little kids. You really should stop trick-or-treating at the age of 13 just so you could be fair for the little kids. The kids could be really sad that all the candy is gone by the teens 14-16 years old. If you trick-or-treat at the age of 16 you would make the kids concerned too.
Trick-or-treating on age 16 is kinda childish I think because it’s not normal for teenagers to go trick-or-treating. I think that only kids age of 3-13 can go trick-or-treating. To me I should stop trick-or-treating at the age of 13. Teen don’t believe in Santa, tooth fairy,Easter bunny so the only holiday teens believe in is Halloween.
Some teenagers could dress up in fake costumes like being a fake father with fake kids like balloon with ghost on top of them. I think that it’s stupid that teen age 14-16 wear fake costumes. Teens could jump out of the bushes to tell them that they want candy I thinks it’s kinda concerning.
Teens that has brother or sisters who don’t do Halloween could use them to get candy for the teens. The kids could be scared or mad. Teens could just buy candy them selves than go trick-or-treating on age of 16. Teens just want candy for free and not buying them.
That why I think you should not stop trick-or-treating at the age of 16,so I think it’s nice to stop trick-or-treating at the age of 13. I won’t give candy to teens to be honest with you. It’s not natural for all teenagers.
Austin Schuler date 10/21/13 class Mr.Masenhimer period 3rd Red core INTRODUCTION I think that people should stop trick-or-treating after their year in high school, because older kids in high school that trick-or-treat makes people concerned, and they would steal all of your candy, and people think that it’s weird that high schoolers still trick-or-treat.
FIRST IMPORTANT REASON I would stop trick-or-treating in high school because it makes the people in their houses uncomfortable, but I still dress up for Halloween because I like dressing up to show that I like Halloween. Now i give out candy and see what the kids are wearing for Halloween, and their costumes are nice and scary looking. Giving out candy for kids is good, but for the teenagers I just turn off the porch light to make them go away. Teens in high school really need to stop trick-or-treating because I think it’s not really comfortable for me because they could take all of your candy just because they just want to eat it. Teenagers want to eat candy every year on Halloween because they want to have candy every day.
NEXT IMPORTANT REASON Teens in high school need to stop trick-or-treating because people go to the door at like 9:00pm,and it make the people in their house concerned. I think that when the high schoolers still trick-or-treat they would still trick-or-treat when they’re adults. I wouldn't allow high schoolers to take my candy because they could steal all of your candy at once. High schoolers could even walk on your grass so they cut across to your porch. How high could high schoolers be could worry people that they could hurt them.
LAST IMPORTANT REASON High schoolers could also even destroy your property and your garden. They could even have costumes that are not real because they want candy. Teens always take all of your candy from the little kids, and they ruin Halloween if they steal all of your candy. The kids would be really upset because teens took all of your candy. They wear inappropriate costume, and scare all of the kids who are in elementary school.
CONCLUSION And that why high schoolers can’t trick-or-treat on Halloween every year to scare and steal candy and ruin Halloween for the little kids. Because they are childish on Halloween every year.
Alex G Masenhimer per 2 green core 10/22/13 halloween debate argument against mikayla b
Mikayla your reasons are correct but i disagree with them. Firstly there is a time when you should stop with the joy of halloween. Next a child should always have a guardian with them while doing things around a unknown area. Lastly you totally forgot to say anything about wearing immature costumes.
First there is a time when kids should stop trick-or-treating and it is not sophmore year. They should at least stopped a few years ago. Around 8th grade is the time they should have stopped trick-or-treating. Also if it is illegal in that city or state I would think that the law would have probably said around the end of middle school. Vandalism is very rare or hardly nothing for the kids to egg or toilet paper the house.
Next teens should no matter what have an adult with them while trick-or-treating. At Least 21 or older to supervise them. Besides kids should never go trick-or-treating by themselves. Also if they do get kidnapped its not the kids fault its the parents fault.
Lastly you said nothing about them wearing immature costumes. By the time they are in high school they start wear immature costumes or costumes that show parts of their personal body that should not be seen. This can lead to people being disturbed by their costume or just dislike it all. Besides i don't think you would want to see something disturbing to you if i was in your shoes.
Mikayla your reasons were great but i just disagree with them. First because tens should always have a adult to supervise them. Next they should have at least stopped a few years ago. Lastly you never said anything about them starting to wear immature costumes which almost all teens do around their age.
Halloween is a holiday favored by many people, but we argue about what age is too old for trick-or-treating. I think when you reach the end of high school you should stop trick-or-treating. I have many reasons to support my opinion, and I hope you agree. But of my many reasons I guess I’ll start with three. I love trick-or-treating and candy so I think you should keep going until high school.
The first reason why is because, after high school you are probably going to be mature, and not want to go running around the whole entire neighborhood taking candy. But some of those people still might want to go trick-or-treating for the fun of hanging out with your friends. Most people that go trick-or-treating don’t go out for mischief. They just want to have fun with their friends. I would want to go trick-or-treating as long as possible! I’m sure a lot of people are excited for this Halloween right? I know I am. When I’m older I’ll probably want to do just what I am doing this Halloween, witch is trick-or-treat and having fun!
Another reason that I think you should stop trick-or-treating at the end or high school is because, if you have been scared when you were little and have had teenagers or other people take your candy, then you may take-on that behavior. Those people are mostly thriving within the high school area. I think if they were told that at the end of high school they had to stop trick-or-treating, they wouldn’t take advantage of the privilege trick-or-treating so much. Then the candy stealing action would be rare , and adults worrying about their children having their Halloween spoiled by greedy teenagers wanting candy, would also be rare. So Halloween would not be so mischievous or scary, but a wonderful thing to be apart of.
Most importantly, my final reason that I think that at the end of high school you should stop trick-or-treating is because, if people kept trick-or-treating even after high school then who would be then to give out candy? The answer is no one! There would be no Halloween! Of course there would be occasionally someone who once had candy but the chances of you getting there before it is all gone are very slim. I mean seriously, it’s not like you’re going to see a group of adults trick-or-treating! If you want to celebrate Halloween you should give out candy or throw a Halloween party.
That was my Halloween debate. I hope you could agree with me that at the end of high school you need to stop trick-or-treating. Growing up includes getting out of the stage of acting as a child. But until then trick-or-treating is definitely on my Halloween to-do list. What about you?
Mikayla, I feel that you have very goods reasons, but teens are not always acting as mature as they should. Yes everyone should be able to have fun on Halloween but teens don’t need to scare everybody else.
Of course sophomores can have fun, but often they have a different kind of fun in mind. When you were 6 , how would you have liked to be scared by a fright-hungry teen? No matter what you say to a teen they don’t usually listen so you can not expect them to dress in normal costume and not demand candy.
Yes, parents usually ask their teens to take the younger siblings trick-or-treating but how often does a child not get candy because they’re with teenage siblings? That doesn’t happen very often because it is a small bunch of people that don’t give candy because of older siblings.
There are people that are cruel enough to hurt a child just because. When you said,”Teens can protect themselves so they don’t need their big brother or big sister to protect but kids on the other hand can not protect themselves and so they can’t go out trick-or-treating by themselves because they might be kidnapped and could be abused by someone they don't know.”, you make seem as the kids shouldn’t go trick or treating because the slim chances of being taken, and hurt by strangers. Teens will see their chance of scaring most of the neighborhood if that happened.
I believe that people should stop trick-or-treating in middle school because they are less prone to dress in scary costumes and terrify the people. Also because middle school kids can defend, and help little children trick-or-treat without scaring them.
alex.c green core masenhimer period 2 argument against mitchell
Mitchell you have good reasons why you should stop trick or treating after the age of 14 but,i still disagree with you.teenagers don’t scare children and very few were inappropriate costumes. For teenagers it’s not about the candy it’s about having fun with your friends.Yes most people have gave up santa, easterbunny etc but they still celebrate that holiday.
First of all very few teenagers go around scaring little kids because they're afraid of getting in trouble. Yes i do agree that they will were inappropriate costumes but so do we some times so i think if your gonna argue that you should say trick-or-treating should stop at the age of 10-11.
Mitchel you said most people have money after there done with middle school well they don't and they don’t have jobs ither. Most teenagers don't celebrate halloween because they want candy they celebrate because they want to go out and have fun with your friends.
Mitchell you say that most people gave up other holidays before 14 but they didn't they just gave up santa easterbunny etc. Most people still celebrate those holidays for example do you still celebrate christmas.
Mitchell most teenagers don't scare other kids and don't have jobs to get own candy and most people still celebrate most holidays.
Mitchell Mr.Masenhimer Green Core Rebuttal Against Isabel H
Isabel, you made some excellent points in your argument, but I still think that you should stop trick-or-treating in middle school. Some high schoolers might stay home, but others will try to be funny and wear something inappropriate while trick-or-treating. High schoolers should have a job or enough money just to drive down to the store and buy candy. Lastly you don't have to put a main character on holidays, but most people want to and now they have given them up.
Most high schoolers will stay home or throw a party, but some will go trick-or-treating and be rude to people. If they stay home it will be loud all night and no one will get any sleep. Also if they go they might be rude to the person answering the door. That will make people mad and not give them candy. That is one reason why you should not trick-or-treat in high school.
I don’t think that teens should go trick-or-treating because teens might take a lot. Most people on Halloween just leave their bowl out and go to bed. When that happens the teens take advantage and take handfuls of candy. That would make the kids angry because they would not get any candy. Also if teens wanted to buy candy at the store they might try to steal it because their friend wanted them to. That is why teens should just buy candy from the store, or not get any candy at all.
Also many people have given up Santa and the Easter bunny and many other characters on holidays. You don’t have to put main titles on holidays, but it is fun if you do. If you do most people have given them up already. Also if you do Halloween is all you have left by now. That is another reason why you should stop trick-or-treating when you are in middle school.
You made some excellent points in your argument. I still think that you should stop trick-or-treating in middle school. High schoolers usually wear inappropriate costumes. Bailey S. has some good ideas about on why people should stop “Trick -or- Treating” when they are in elementary, but I believe they should stop “Trick -or- Treating” from the age 14 through 16. The reason why I think that we should stop then is because when we are 14 to 16 we aren't as interested in Halloween anymore. Now we will have money to buy candy and not have go door to door all night asking for candy.
As Bailey S. pointed out that at 21 year old people already have their license but most people have their license even before they turn 18 you can get your license when you are 16! Also you can have a part time job after school and get your own money to buy candy and other items you want. And you would need to be mature and smart to go buy your own candy and not use all of the money on a costume and have to go door to door all night for candy.
Yes some teenagers misbehave while they are “Trick -or- Treating” but that is only because they are immature and trying to have fun and make people laugh, and think it makes them look cool. While other teenagers are mature enough to know not to misbehave and respect others and their property. Now the ones in the middle do both they behave and they misbehave, the people in the middle are the ones in my opinion that pull off the most pranks, instead of respecting others and their property, only because they are the ones that are leaving that immature stage and becoming mature.
As Bailey said that the majority of people get their braces in middle school. But I don’t think that that it’s quite true a lot of people get their braces at different times ( elementary, middle, and high school ). And they all get them for different reasons for example, their teeth might not be in the right form, or the new teeth are growing out wrong, also they might have an extra tooth that isn't needed,it could be lots of other things to.
In conclusion I think that people should continue “Trick -or- Treating” until they are 14 or 16. As long as they are mature enough to know and respect other people and their property. Instead of misbehaving and trying pull off the pranks, and trying to terrify little kids and Toilet Paper peoples houses all night.
Seth A. Red Core Masenhimer #3 10/29/13 Argument to Curtis H in red core
Dear Curtis H, Though your reasons are good I disagree with you, I think that kids should stop trick-or-treating a bit after high school ends. Why do I think this Curtis I think this because older kids don’t always take advantage of the younger kids. I have not seen any young kids getting their candy taken by older kids. Also Curtis H. older kids don’t always get scary costumes and try to scare the little kids just because they are young and vulnerable. Finally the older kids would most likely not drug the candy. The high schoolers have no point in drugging them.
Not all of the older kids take the younger kids’ candy away from them. In high school the kids are usually more nice to the younger kids. High schoolers wouldn’t steal candy from little kids, that would mess up a kids childhood. High schoolers are not that mean to do something like stealing candy from little kids.
The older kids don’t always wear the scary costumes, but if they do that it is sometimes because they just want to look cooler. That doesn’t mean they are trying to scare the younger kids. The older kids like to dress like zombies and stuff like that because they want to dress up not be judged, but because they want to dress as the coolest things of the decade or ‘boss’.
An older kid in high school wouldn’t drug a kid because there is no point for it. The high schoolers would have no point to drug any young kids. Drugging kids would be hard because the kids or parents/guardians would have to check the candy before eating it. The high school kids that would do that are not smart enough to drug the candy.
Curtis, your ideas are well thought about, you did a wonderful job on writing this. Not all older kids don’t always take advantage of the younger kids. I have not seen any young kids getting their candy taken by older kids. Also Curtis H. older kids don’t always get scary costumes and try to scare the little kids just because they are young and vulnerable. Finally the older kids would most likely not drug the candy. The high school kids have no point in drugging them. Thank you for reading my opinions about when kids should stop Trick-or-Treating.
Dear Leroy (Neil) you have some very good points, but there are still some things you are missing. I am going to tell you what you missed and reasons why you are wrong in most parts. (Hot Rod) The first thing is the candy, second is the costumes, and third is where you were totally wrong.
The first thing you missed is that ya you can buy it at the store, the other parts of the year like in summer, winter, and spring. But I know you Neil you're going to want some free candy. Also people like me and you can get candy at the store the rest of the year. They go trick-or-treating on hot rod I would expect you want to too. Buying candy at the store and not going trick-or-treating are just boring. Like I said what Dennis said in my last essay.
Also Some people like me , and I know you do too care about how detailed your costumes are. People like me are going to want to use are very detailed costumes for king size candy bars. Also like I said in my first essay they might give the whole bowl. And Neil I know how much you like candy and junk food. So yeah Neil you are going to want to get that free candy. Also it’s free candy, candy is always better when it is free.
And no I did not say that in my first essay. I read it 2 more times to be sure, so that is just a bunch of bologna. So like Reco said in Hot Rod “Don't you ever tell me how to live my life again”
So yeah all, and all you have a lot of good points Neil but the candy thing, and costume thing. But I have no idea where your head was with disagreeing with myself. I am guessing it was watching Ace Ventura. I hope I have changed your mind. #brainwash
Ok little Jakob, I know how you think that getting amazing costumes is super fun and stuff. But the too detailed costumes could scare smaller people (Gant) and scare them for life. And maybe you don't want to go trick-or-treating for the candy and you are too lazy. And most likely parties you go to once a year or so aren't going to get boring. So I will show you my amazing explanations.
Listen here little boy, just because it is halloween that doesn't mean you HAVE to get super awesome mega detailed expensive costume. And young Jakob remember there are psychos who get super awesome mega detailed costumes to scare little children (like your younger brother with the scream mask #lol).
And so what trick-or-treating for candy is fun! I can go to Fred Myers and get all the candy I want for half the price, and what if I am too lazy to walk around a neighborhood asking strangers for candy. But going to the store you only have to talk to one stranger which is the cashier, but you can even do self check-out (No stranger=No danger).Plus you get to choose what ever candy you want instead of the people giving you nasty off-brand candy that nobody likes, or something else healthy like an apples or giving out raisins.
Then when you get old enough, you can go to Halloween parties instead of trick-or-treating which is about 10× better than trick-or-treating for candy. Plus if you are that desperate to get candy rather than going to a party you have a little bit of an immature problem. Also you can go door to door asking for candy any time of the year, but it probably won't work out.
So now little Jakob, do you get my amazing reasons why I am right! I mean if you love to trick-or-treat you can its just a little bit odd. And some messed up people like to scare little kids, like your brother. Also you don't have to be those people who say they go to trick-or-treating just for the candy. If you don't want to have fun, and just want candy go to your local grocery store and buy all the candy you want (as long as it is ok with your mom). Also this is just my opinion, but I would rather go to a fun party then trick-or-treat. Ok Jakob so now do you get my reasons!
Dear Mikayla B. in your argument it said “I believe that people should stop trick-or-treating after their sophomore year in high school I believe this because no person is too old for the funness of halloween, the candy, and the costumes” I disagree because after a sophomore year they are already too old to treat-or-treat and get in costumes. My reasons why I disagree are they aren't little kids like they used to be in elementary school, they are starting to grow up and act more mature, and they are gonna start to scare other little kids with their halloween spirit and ruin their night. I do agree that they should dress up for halloween but not to go out and knock on door to door to ask just for candy, they should dress up to just sit at home and give candy out. The teens aren't little kids anymore like they used to be in elementary school no, no, they are young adult people.
Teens should stop trick-or-treating because they have to start to act more mature and some already are which is good and bad at the same time because there is still people out their scaring kids just for their fun. Thats why teens should not stop after sophomore year but earlier.
If they go out just to scare of little kids thats not right. They maybe are jealous or something else but to dress up just to scare people is not right to do. Mikayla you said “ no person is too old for the funness of halloween, the candy, and the costumes” people get old for the funness and the costumes but the candy they can go out and buy on halloween night they will save a lot more money.
That’s why teens shouldn’t stop trick-or-treating at the end of sophomore and should stop earlier.
Oh my friend Selah, Your arguments have some holes in it, and what you believe about trick-or-treating is kind of wonky in my opinion. I don’t like your reasons, that’s why I’m going to disagree on you post.
The thing I don’t like about it is that you said teens will take all of the candy. How can they do that if the person is handing out candy? What if it isn’t out for the kids to grab a piece of candy? I would simply just give it to them personally to see their happy toothless faces.
The second thing that makes me question your post is why would you want to scare a five year old? Sure some people might feel the rush of it but those are the heartless teens. What if the kid started to cry? The teens might think it’s funny until they see the kid, to see what they have done to scare the kid. Then there’s the grief of it all. Maybe that’s just enough to change them.
My last reason is the adults might think it’s weird, but have you seen this generation? The adults could think it’s funny too. A joke perhaps, but also that would probably be about 50% of them. What if they like the teens costumes? As people they can become more creative in their costumes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a really good Halloween costume come out of a first grader.
I think that you, Selah, have some great ideas but those ideas are just not for me. I personally think teens should be out there for Halloween even if they only have a small amount of candy because they are not a four year old. Sometimes even if they are in the mood to scare there is a time for everything. Teens also have a creative mind where ideas pop in and out for Halloween. In conclusion, teenagers have the privilege to do what they want. That even stretches into the Halloween category sometimes.
Mikayla, your argument has some interesting points, but is false. Yes, everyone 21 and under is a minor, but that doesn’t mean the have to act like one. What I meant by “9 out of 10 teenagers are lazy,” is the fact that most of them are lethargic. The older kids can still have fun, but that doesn’t mean they need to scare children and be pushy.
It is a fact that anyone under the age of 21 are considered a minor, but that doesn’t mean they have to act like one. For instance, acting like a child, or being immature, is being pushy and taking all the candy before the youngsters get to it. I believe that being immature and childish won’t help anything in the long-run. Besides, pre-teens and teens should start being mature and have some self-discipline.
In my initial post, I said “nine out of ten of them are lazy and don’t care about younger kids.” I used that saying as a metaphor. What I meant was, most teenagers these days are sluggish and just go, “eh whatever.” If they go to the store and buy candy themselves, their attitude towards Halloween would most likely change, because the have that whole bag of goodies to themselves.
Sure, older kids can have fun, but that doesn’t mean they absolutely have to go trick-or-treating. For example, most high schoolers host Halloween parties and such that they can go to and have fun. Trick-or-treating is still some-what childish for them to do. Besides, they love the enjoyment of scaring little kids, which I don’t think is an okay thing to do. Teenagers take advantage of these privileges of Halloween and abuse them. If that’s the case, then I believe they shouldn’t be trick-or-treating. Once again, your argument had some good points, but it’s invalid. It is a fact that everyone under 21 years of age is a minor, but it doesn’t mean they need to act like one. Most teenagers these days are sluggish and lazy which affects their attitude. Older kids may still have fun and all, but it doesn’t mean they need to go trick-or-treating.
Tyler H. Mr.Masenhimer red core rebuttal against Neil V.
No one augmented against me,so I found you,and I think that your points and reasons are invalid,so here are my three reasons why you are wrong. I agree with you when it comes to trick-or-treating when you are in high school, but why buy a bag of candy instead of running around in a free costume (you got from your parents-which means that they are going to see your costume, which means you can't go trick-or-treating in an inappropriate costume) with your beast bros. When it comes to scaring the little kids,it’s the high school teens job to do it.The whole point of Halloween is to get scared,to be scared, ant to scare.(along with trick-or-treating). I do agree with you when it comes to buying costumes and only wearing them once, but is it your money you're spending on a most-likely 25$ costume?I think not.And as for scaring little kids, you don't have to worry about that! It’s Halloween! And I bet Jake wants to scare his little brother. For my final paragraph,I think that what Jake meant was that you have to spend the first year of H.S.with your friends trick-or-treating,instead of going to a “beginner” party(a person that has thrown a Halloween party for the first time),that way 1.you don't waste your time at a “lame”party 2.you can spend your last time trick-or-treating with your friend, and you have trick-or-treated in every grade school and 3.you don't get bored of all the parties you go to. Honestly,I don't think that it matters if someone stops trick-or-treating in elementary school! But if it were to become a law,I would vote with Jake and the rest of the people who would stop trick-or-treating in H.S.

Kade, although you made very good points in your argument, I believe that they are invalid. You say in your argument that “ high schoolers get way more terrifying than middle schoolers” that I believe is a reason for high schoolers to stop trick-or-treating. If they get super scary, then who will go trick-or-treating if they are scared that they will be scared? You also brought up another point and said that “ trick-or-treating will never get boring for anyone.” I say that that is fully unreasoned, a lot of people do get bored of it because they’re just walking around in freezing weather just for candy. And lastly you said that you didnt care what your neighbors thought if you went over to there house for candy, but here is a question, are you going over there when they have their lights turned off? I say respect them and don't do it. You said that high schoolers get way more terrifying as they climb in age, if that is so, then that is a whole other reason on why they should not go trick-or-treating. If these high schoolers continue scaring younger children in these spine chilling costumes, than all of the joy they have for the holiday will be seized. You also said that the whole reason for halloween is to scare people, I say that you are wrong. Halloween is about having fun and getting goodies for you to share with your friends. Also, it is about dressing up in appropriate costumes and going out and showing off, not to have these helpless children be terror stricken Although you had a great argument I believe that you were completely mistaken with this argument. Kade you also said that” trick-or-treating will never get boring for anyone” I say that you are wrong, again. Trick-or-treating is always to somebody going to get boring, whether they are small or big, their joy and fun for the holiday will begin to fade. People all around the world get bored of walking around in freezing cold air, knocking on peoples doors, and getting candy from strangers. I say what is to like about that after middle school? People are just too lazy to go buy their own candy. Halloween will get boring for everyone, and eventually people will realize that they are wasting their time getting candy from strangers. I'm deeply sorry kate, but I think that you are completely invalid. Kade , your last reason was that “me myself I don't really care about how my neighbors feel about me coming over to there house to get candy” And I completely agree with you, but if they have their lights off, then that is probably a sign that they do not want kids knocking at their doors. Your neighbors may get frustrated with you if this giant kid is dressed as a pirate, wanting candy and you're in highschool! Your neighbors respect you and if they have children will send them to your house, if your lights are on, and they are not in high school. I understand that you and others don't care what your neighbors think, that it is a holiday that this happens, but respect your neighbors by handing out candy with them and not snatching it from little kids trying to get goodies, and not scaring children out of the way in bloodcurdling costumes.
All of your arguments were very well thought out, but I still believe that children should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. You said that High schoolers get way more terrifying as they climb in age, I say that that is a whole nother reason to stop trick-or-treating. You also said that trick-or-treating will never get boring, that is completely wrong in my opinion. Trick-or-treating will always get boring for at least one person. And lastly you said that you didnt care what your neighbors thought about you going to their door, well I say that you should respect their privacy and leave them alone if they feel they don't want you on their property. All of your arguments were very persuasive, but I still think that children at the end of middle school should stop trick-or-treating.
jonathan g green core rebuttal against jose r Jose your arguments against me are pretty good, however, I disagree. Now I know that you think it’s weird for a person to stop at the end of high school, but trust me it is not and here is why. You say that older kids have bigger hands but not all of the kid’s will do the bad thing and get a really big hand full of candy and leave almost nothing for the smaller kids. But also not all of the bigger kid’s have big hands unless you are relating to an specific person. Another reason why you are wrong is because some kids might have a specific medical conditions that make’s them think and act like a high school, middle school or even elementary school. But then again you did not say a specific person, all you did was mention it.Which makes the argument that you specifically said ‘they are adults now they can't be going door to door asking for candy it would look weird.’But then that takes us again to the part where I said that some kid’s might have a specific medical condition that makes them do certain things differently than others. The last reason that you said was that it would be unfair for adults to have all of the candy and the little kid’s to have almost none of the candy, but then again it brings us to the fact that some adults that go trick-or-treating aren't as bad as others , so some could grab less than others making it so that there are enough pieces of candy left for smaller kids. After reading this paper of all the ways that you are wrong when you route this argument about me being wrong for thinking that the age that is appropriate for a person to stop going door to door asking for candy is at the end of high school I just proved you wrong so you might aswell just change your mind.
Jose Dominguez Masenhimer (2) Green Core 10/28/13 Argument against Jonathan G.
You have many good points, but I think 21 is too old to stop trick-or-treating. Now, why would a 21 year be going trick-or-treating? I would understand if they had a child that wanted to go trick or treating, but other than that i don’t know why. Like you said they have a license by now… well they can kind of get one when their 16. Kids usually start scaring people when they're in their middle school years. When someone gets to 21 years of age they start partying and doing crazy stuff. I don’t think they are going to go trick-or-treating. Plus Halloween is a kids holiday not grown adult’s. That’s why they go to parties and not trick-or-treating. Also, its mostly middle schoolers that steal other little kid’s candy. 21 year olds’ are mature and know that its not nice to steal candy. I do agree with you on one opinion, and that is that they can go to the store and buy some candy there. Instead of buying an expensive costume and standing out in the freezing weather. They can even get sick. That’s why they have a car right, to get to places. Teenagers are the ones who scare people the most just because they think it is funny. They hide behind bushes and put masks on. What they don’t know is that they probably ruined that person’s Halloween. It is just not cool! This is why I think that 21 years of age is too old for trick-or-treating Jonathan. They have other things to like go to parties and hand out candy. I hope you take my opinions in mind.
Curtis your arguments are great ,but I disagree with you that you’re now saying that seventeen is a good year to stop at. In your second argument I do not agree with you that older kids can scare little kids with their scary costume and mask. Lastly older kids are not allow to trick-or-treat anymore by the time they’re fifteen years of age. First of all, I don’t think when you’re seventeen it would be a good year to stop trick-or-treating. I don’t think so because for me it’s kind of too old enough it looks like senior people which that is really funny. Also I was gonna say another thing in your initial post you said kids should stop trick-or-treating when they are sixteen, and then you said seventeen or more. I disagree with you on that. Unfortunately, you shouldn’t said older kids can scare little kids with their terrifying costume and mask. Curtis do you have any Ideas what you’re talking about? That is really rude and mean how can older kids do to this to the poor little kids. Last reason was older teens are not allow to trick-or-treat by the time they are fifteen. I keep saying and saying to you that fifteen is a good year to stop at. So then you start criticising that is wrong. I’m not the one who is wrong, you’re the one who is wrong. In conclusion, I think I battled too much with you so now that you have read my rebuttal you should start thinking. Curtis there will be a day that you have to you change your mind.
Brianna W. Green core 10-29-13 rebuttal for Mikayla B against Mitchall A.
Both Mikayla and Mitchall had wonderful ideas but i have to agree with Mikayla. She had very true and important ideas. She stated that “the older kids need to have fun”. also she said “most of the older kids just go around to trick-or-treat”. Many younger kids are at risk being out trick-or-treating with more teens out kids are safer. The teens can protect the younger children. Teens mean no harm they just don’t want to grow up. Older kids just want to have fun. They mean no harm they have just grow to the reputation. Not once in my life have i ever see or heard of a house being egged. Not all teens are as reckless as they seem. Hopefully they have enough common sense to be appropriate with their privileges. During halloween last year I didn't see a single teen with an inappropriate costume. I think it would be horrible to be a teen and someone give me the reputation of being a reckless teen that only scares little kids. If a teen accidentally scares a kid well that happens but I think that the majority of the teens real don’t mean to scare them. Teens can be crazy but I have never known a teen to purposely scare a little kid. “Older kids need to have fun as well ”, said Mikayla and i am siding with that it is very true. With all the homework and essays they need to have fun. Time is ticking and the essays are piling on they are looking forward to going out on halloween. All they want is a little fun going around and asking for candy not like they are stealing it. Older kids need to have fun their lives are getting harder, and they need to have fun and halloween is one of the many ways they can. No matter what age you are you need to have fun,and for some people trick-or-treating one of the ways they have fun. After all I believe that people should stop trick-or-treating and the end of high school. They aren’t doing any harm or at least not meaning to. The teenagers just want fun. They can also go out with their younger siblings and have fun with them. Also telling them to go buy candy is like telling them to get their own Christmas presents. Some older kids just want to walk around for candy just like everyone else is that so horrible? I stand to reason with Mikayla people should stop trick-or-treating at the end of high school.
Austin, you can stop trick-or-treating at age 13 if you want. I will stop at age 16. Let me tell you why I think you should stop at age 16. I hope you don't take anything the wrong way or misunderstand anything. In your post you say,” the only holiday teens believe in is in Halloween” which is exactly why kids should keep trick-or-treating beyond the age of 13. If teens don’t believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny or anything else in fantasy what fun thing are they going to do when they are kids? They just can’t sit there and wait for kids to ring their doorbell and pass out candy. If at age 13 kids only believe in halloween then they should be able to trick-or-treat for another 3 years. I suppose, kids do dress up immaturely in their teen-age years. But, I believe the immaturity starts around age 16. I am almost thirteen and I still dress up as Alice in Wonderland, or Little Red Riding Hood. I do not think those costumes are immature or inappropriate. If you have ever seen any 13 year olds dressed up as terrifying zombies you don't have to do that. It was those kids that chose to act that way. If I have ever seen anybody wear terrifying or lame costumes it was those 16 year olds. I am aware, that older kids might use their younger siblings for candy. If you are at age 13 you might have a very small sibling and if you take their candy they might tell on you. They might not even budge for money. 13 year-olds might have a younger sibling that is 1 or 2 years younger. Maybe they will have an interest for money. But, do you really think they are going to trade their precious candy for money? No. They will not because with the money they can buy the same candy they got for free on Halloween night. There is still many reasons why I think you should not stop trick-or-treating at age 13. I truly think that is a very young age to stop. I will be 13 next year and I do not want to stop trick-or-treating next year because it seems too sudden. I need at least 2 more years of trick-or-treating. These are just my opinions which you shouldn’t be offended by.

Mikayla you made some interesting points but I still think that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the age 14. First of all some parents do not let their children trick-or-treat older than 13 or 14 so it is not fair to them if kids their age or older trick-or-treat and get lots of candy. Sophomore year is the 10th grade in high school. You are 15 and ready to get your permit and learn how to start driving. And some businesses allow 15 year olds to work for them. Any older the kids have their licence and can go buy candy at the store. Or use their own money from their job and buy it themselves. And going trick-or-treating when you're in elementary school you are too young to go buy for yourself. As for middle schoolers they can go trick-or-treating with three or four of their friends and it will be no problem. But in high school teens just want to party and get in trouble by doing bad things to other peoples things. Yes children could get kidnapped or molested etc. But if they go with their parents or older siblings these horrible things won’t happen. Yes people still love to dress up in there older ages. But you can still spread the fun by decorating your house as the scariest house on the block. You could also get the best candy like full size candy bars or even king size candy bars. The best would be to give out the most candy like 10 or 15 pieces to each trick-or-treating. Mikayla made some excellent points about what age you should stop trick-or-treating. But I still think that you should stop trick-or-treating at the age 14.
Capri W. Green Core 10/29/13 Rebuttal Against Mikayla B.
Mikayla, you have many good points in your argument however, I still disagree that trick-or-treating should end in high school. One reason is that not all high schoolers do the right thing. Another argument is that adults just want there to be enough candy for the younger kids to have some. My last reason is that even if older siblings take their younger sibling trick-or-treating, it doesn’t mean that they have to get candy too; chances are that they have money to buy candy for themselves. My first reason is that not all high schoolers do the right thing. A lot of times teenagers start out having innocent fun when suddenly it turns into them not doing the right thing. In your argument you say “kids have the right to have fun its not illegal for them to trick-or treat yet so take advantage of that right by having fun and not egging or toilet papering someones house”. This argument is invalid because even though there are some teenagers that can have fun without being a bad example, the majority of teenagers cannot. That is why they shouldn’t be trick-or-treating. Also, on Halloween adults just want to make sure that there will be enough candy for all the littler kids to have some. Teenagers have big hands, so they can get way more candy at a house than a little kid can. If teenagers get candy from houses, soon all of it will be gone and all the children won’t get to have any candy. Another argument is that just because teenagers take their younger siblings trick-or-treating, it doesn’t mean that they have to get candy too. This relates back to my second reason because teenagers have much larger hands than littler kids do. If a high schooler is really that desperate for some candy, they sell candy at any store for like a dollar. So why take away from littler children when you could just go out and buy some candy ? Most teenagers have jobs, and if they choose to spend their money on buying candy, that is their decision. However they don’t have to take the fun away from children who aren’t as able to just go out and buy candy any time they wish. High schoolers should not be trick-or-treating. My first reason is that not all high schoolers do the right thing. My second reason is that adults just want to make sure that there will be enough candy for every kid to have some. Lastly, If high schoolers want candy that bad, why don’t they just drive to the store and buy some ? You make some excellent points in your argument but because of those reasons, teenagers in high school should not be trick-or-treating.
Mitchell people don't take advantage of what they can do tell me when is the last time you saw someone egg another persons house. You say people hate when teenagers come to their door but have you really asked anybody how they feel about giving teenagers candy. That would be unfair for the teenager he/she probably could of gone to a party or something but his parents made him/her take the younger sibling trick-or-treating, and now he wouldn't even get candy.
Yes there are many ways to have fun when you're in high school but not on this specific day.Basically you are saying that teenagers should stay home do home work and play video games. You say there are more fun things to do than trick-or-treating with your friends but there's not.I know i’ve probably said these a thousand times but teenagers don’t really go around egging houses.
Mitchell you say that teenagers should take their younger siblings trick-or-treating and not go up to the door and get candy but if they can't do anything but walk their younger siblings around than the teenagers would be nothing more than slaves.
Mitchell i'm confused you argue one thing and you turn back around and say another. No one ever kidnaps people the worst thing that happens on Halloween is kids taking to much candy. The reason the bigger brother/sister takes there younger sibling trick-or-treating is because the parents make them its not like it’s by choice i mean you don't think that the younger or older sibling would like to go without them.
Why do you think that teenagers should not be able to have fun by trick-or-treating that's just unfair. most people don’t care if teenagers come up to there asking for candy and a lot of houses just leave there candy in a bowl and say take one.you say that you should stop trick-or-treating in middle school but i say you should stop trick-or-treating sometime during the end of high school.

Dear Cassidy, I think that kids should not stop trick or treating at middle school. I think kids should stop Trick-or-Treating at the end of high school Cassidy I’ve got to hand it to you you do have some good points, but some older kids still like to Trick-or-Treat. Teens have a kid in them somewhere and that is why they still want to Trick-or-Treat even though they are getting older. Some teenagers have some good memories of Trick-or-Treating. Teenagers still like to Trick-or-Treat because it reminds them of their childhood. Also they get free candy. Also the high schoolers would dislike to not be allowed to Trick-or-Treat anymore. Trick-or-Treating is still fun to a lot of people and they don’t want it to end.

Diego, you make some very good points in your argument but you are not being very persuasive.Yes kids should stop Trick-or-treating some time but they would run if they had a car they would drive around and stop at A house that they hadn’t been yet.But then they may run over someone and get sued so that would be their fault.
Even if halloween is one of your favorite holidays. That doesn’t change anything isn’t very persuasive all you are saying is that it is one favorite of yours. You are saying 14-15 that is either the last year or first year of high school so I don't think that’s fair Diego.
Halloween is not about showing off your costumes it was called hallows eve where people would light fires to ward off ghost and ghouls. So halloween is all about scaring people.People just added trick-or-treating for getting a treat or get tricked.
Just because you are older and have a part time job doesn’t mean you can’t go trick-or-treating.Just because you want candy doesn’t mean you have to go buy it,it just means they can go but they don’t have to.
Even though you make valid point you are not very persuasive.Kids should stop trick-or-treating at some point I don’t think it’s fair that you are saying they should stop at age 14 or 15.All the fun is going out on that night and going to get free candy, sure there haunted houses parties but it’s really the costumes and trick-or-treating.

A complete costume is shoes, makeup, outfit, and hair
Those are a few reasons why I think kids should stop trick-or-treating at age 16.

In conclusion Halloween is fun to do up until the high school is over and is one of the last day’s you can take candy safely from strangers.

trick-or-treat debate

I think that kids should stop trick-or- treating by high school because the older kids take the most of the candy from us younger kids and that ruins all the fun for the younger kids.

I believe that people should stop trick-or-treating by the time they’re
done with their first year of high school. My reasons for thinking this because
by this age they’re going throw toilet paper on someone house. They could
also and probably will scare all the little kids in their superhero costume that
won’t get them very much candy . Which brings me to my next point with the
small amount of candy the kids are going to get they could get less if teenagers
take it al.
My initial reason for thinking this is because the teenagers may throw toilet paper who
can’t afford good candy so she is handing out candy from dollar tree. The problem with that is
the old lady is going to have to clean by herself which may take until next halloween.
The kids will maybe even scary the lady so much that she drops the candy which
may end up with the same result.Do you want to see a women take toilet paper off her house and clean up egg off her windows.

Argument Against Mikayla B.

Capri W. respond to Mikayla B.

Argument against Riley W.

Riley, although your arguments may seem valid, I still don't agree that teens should trick-or-treat through high school.
Trick-or-treating should stop after elementary school.
Jonathan G. had some good ideas on why people should stop trick-or-treating at 21, but kids should stop trick-or-treating even earlier.

Argument Against Mikayla B.

So basicly nothing stops you from trick-or-treating, but it is just a childish thing.
You have a good reason with the costumes but why does it matter how detailed it is or not. These costumes are most likely only going to be worn once, and if you have frightening costumes or mask you can scare young children like your little brother.

Halloween Debate

INTRODUCTION
I think that people should stop trick-or-treating after their year in high school, because older kids in high school that trick-or-treat makes people concerned, and they would steal all of your candy, and people think that it’s weird that high schoolers still trick-or-treat.
FIRST IMPORTANT REASON
I would stop trick-or-treating in high school because it makes the people in their houses uncomfortable, but I still dress up for Halloween because I like dressing up to show that I like Halloween.
NEXT IMPORTANT REASON
Teens in high school need to stop trick-or-treating because people go to the door at like 9:00pm,and it make the people in their house concerned.
LAST IMPORTANT REASON
High schoolers could also even destroy your property and your garden. They could even have costumes that are not real because they want candy. Teens always take all of your candy from the little kids, and they ruin Halloween if they steal all of your candy. The kids would be really upset because teens took all of your candy. They wear inappropriate costume, and scare all of the kids who are in elementary school.
CONCLUSION
And that why high schoolers can’t trick-or-treat on Halloween every year to scare and steal candy and ruin Halloween for the little kids. Because they are childish on Halloween every year.

Rebuttal Against Isabel H

Rebuttal against Bailey S.
Bailey S. has some good ideas about on why people should stop “Trick -or- Treating” when they are in elementary, but I believe they should stop “Trick -or- Treating” from the age 14 through 16.

Argument to Curtis H in red core

Rebuttel against Neil
#brainwash

Rebuttal against Jakob
Stay sweet ☮.

Rebuttal against Selah F.

Rebuttal Against Mikayla B.
Older kids may still have fun and all, but it doesn’t mean they need to go trick-or-treating.

rebuttal against Neil V.

Rebuttal against Kade V.
All of your arguments were very persuasive, but I still think that children at the end of middle school should stop trick-or-treating.

rebuttal against jose r
Jose your arguments against me are pretty good, however, I disagree.

Argument against Jonathan G.

Rebuttal Against Mikayla B.
You make some excellent points in your argument but because of those reasons, teenagers in high school should not be trick-or-treating.

rebuttal against mitchell

Cassidy K. Green Core

Rebuttal against Diego A.
Just because you are older and have a part time job doesn’t mean you can’t go trick-or-treating.Just because you want candy doesn’t mean you have to go buy it,it just
means they can go but they don’t have to.
