I believe that we should stop trick-or-treating at the year of 8th grade. I only believe that if you dress up. If you don’t dress up then there is no reason to go. Even if you are just passing out candy then you should still dress up to show that you still enjoy the holiday. It makes the little kids happy that even though you are older you still dress up. Most the people that say they are going to trick-or-treat till they are out of high school but by then they no longer hold the Halloween spirit. By 8th grade you just want to go trick-or-treating for one last time. Then the next year all you want to do is dress up with some friends and pass out candy to the little kids. Its so cute when they see you there trying to guess what you are. The expression on their faces is so cute. Thats what you want to see when you're in high school a happy kids face. If you are just out to get candy then its not worth it just go home and think about the faces that a kid may make when they don’t get any candy and you did. Now you see that is why you should stop trick-or-treating after 8th grade. If you are truly the kind of person that thinks you should trick-or-treat into highschool I shame you. You take candy away from the little kids that are out there to make the life of some of the people so happy. Those people are the ones that like to see the faces that are smile back at you. That is why I believe you should stop trick-or-treating in 8th grade.
Halloween,a fun time to have fun, get candy, and fool or scare people, but as you get older, there is that time when you should really consider to stop trick-or-treating. I believe that kids over 14 shouldn’t trick-or-treat. That age is too old and and most teens can earn money and buy their own candy. It may be expensive before Halloween, but afterwards on November 1, the candy is discounted and is really cheap. I stopped trick-or-treating at age 13, but as I observe ages of people who celebrate Halloween, it is not uncommon to see people who are 14. There is also that certain time at night when you should stop trick-or-treating. I personally believe that the time is 9:00. Usually people at that time are settling down ready to chill with their family and go to bed. That is also why poeple should stop at age 14. Those people want to start later, and later is usually pass 9:00. Now, I only get a couple here and there that come to my door at 11:00. That for me is to late. I want to get a good sleep for the next day. No sleep is unhealthy as well. When you reach the age of 14, that is really the time to start tricking more than treating unless, as I stated in my first paragraph, you buy your own candy. It is why I stopped treating at 13. It’s very fun to scare some unsuspecting visitors. So yes I admit it, I do get costumes, but it’s to scare people. It is very fun to see their reactions of fear to laughing nervously. Take my thoughts into consideration and think about them. You may not agree, but this is my own personal opinion of what I believe.
I believe for the ending of Trick or Treating should be at the end of Middle School (14 Years Old). 14 is a reasonable age because it gives children a reasonable to time to enjoy there Halloween’s. Any age above that could be more scary for little children trick or treating. Teenagers who are older than 14 could be more impulsive and might be more reasoning to scare children, so then there are more people just for the candy, and not doing any scarring. 9 P.M. seems to be the best time to stop, so people can rest for the next day to come. For some schools or places in the world Halloween could still be a school day and the next day so kids can’t just be out till 1 A.M. in the morning ringing doorbells if anyone is actually awake. With older (above 14) kids Trick or Treating it could cause issues for people who wanna sleep, and can’t because of all these doorbells ringing. Older kids seem to not wear costumes too because they think “They’re too cool for it” and just bring a candy bag for these grownups to put candy in. This is a good reasons for them to just stop once they’re 14 it gives the little kids to get a chance to get candy and not worry about seeing these older kids in normal day clothes just asking for candy with no actual Halloween spirit! With all my thinking I truly think 14 (end of middle school) should be a great stopping point. With no older kids or even grown ups possibly either, and ending at 9 P.M. doesn’t seem that bad. 9 P.M. gives everyone a fine amount of time to collect all they’re candy from all the houses they have gone to. Those are my beliefs on Halloween.
I do not to celebrate halloween, but if I did I would say kids should stop before the end of middle school, at age 14. My first reason is most kids will discover it more efficient to spend their well earned money on awesome items they have been saving for instead of spending it on a costume they will only wear for a few hours. If they still want their candy, they will probably be smart enough by now to buy it at the store. Another reason minors should stop trick-or-treating is they might begin to wear disturbing costumes. Around this age, many children also begin to feel devious, so they use their creepy costumes and the element of surprise to place young kids in a state of terror which dissipates the young children’s enthusiasm for this holiday. As teens continue their journey into the dark onto high school, they may start to realize that walking around a whole neighborhood is not worth a few pieces of delicious candy. Instead they may use the money that may have gone into buying a costume for some interesting device they may be saving for. Yearly halloween costumes can add up to be a lot of cash. As people get older they may develop other hobbies that may not involve spending a night in the freezing air for some treats. In my opinion, it is somewhat better they will have to summon more willpower and perseverance in order to continue their childhood traditions in order to obtain some treats. If they still want their candy, they can get it for much more affordably in after halloween sales and have money left over for other things. My second reason why kids should stop seeking treats at their neighbors when they turn 14 is they may start to dress in more weird and frightening costumes if they decide to continue trick or treating. When the teens were younger, they were clothed in innocent and joyful costumes. Sometimes, when they become 14 they may now choose to dress in terrifying costumes to intimidate others. Occasionally, people in middle school dress up in horrifying outfits to feel superior to others. This leads to costumes being used to hurt others. My final reason why those in middle school should not celebrate halloween after age 14 is the potential long term effect of frightening younger children with overly scary images. This could possibly ruin the poor kids halloween and make them want to terrify others when they get older. If that person stopped trick-or-treating there would be more candy for the rest of the children and less shattered childhoods. I don’t celebrate Halloween but if I did, I would stop by age 14. Around this age, some kids may learn they can buy candy from the store especially after halloween candy sales and save their money to buy other items they may desire. Some older teens who may continue trick or treating may tend to wear disturbing costumes to intimidate the younger generation. This may continue a cycle of having mischievous fun at the expense of the younger kid’s joy. Although, trick-or-treating is fun for many people, there is a time for all things to end.
In my opinion I think that you should stop trick-or-treating at 13. I think you should stop at 13 because it’s more fun for the younger kids. So if a bunch of teenagers are walking up to doors with them, it kind of ruins it for them. Adults can also get irritated because older kids stay out later, and they could be disturbing them while they are sleeping. You could also be hanging out with friends and having a movie night or a party instead.
My first reason for stopping at 13 is because it takes away the joy for the little kids. Sometimes it may be their first time trick-or-treating and it’s no fun if a bunch of teenagers are taking their candy. Teens goof off and do bad things on Halloween too, so they are setting a bad example for the little ones. Instead of taking candy from little kids, they could be passing the candy out and helping them get as much candy as possible.
My second reason is that parents or homeowners get irritated with older kids who trick-or-treat. They might have younger kids who are trick-or-treating, and I agree that it’s disrespectful of people to jump in front of younger kids to get candy. It’s common sense to let the little kids go first. After all Halloween is really meant for them to have fun. Teenagers normally go out later and if there are little kids sleeping then parents get mad. If the lights are off then you don’t knock on the door.
My last reason is that you could have better things to do. You could have a Halloween party and have way more fun than trick-or-treating. Invite friends over and have a scary movie night. Being a teenager opens up more options for how you could spend your night. Plus trick-or-treating is kind of a little kid thing. In my opinion, I think the appropriate age to stop at is 13 because it’s not as much fun as it used to be when we were little.

My story is about when and why teens should stop Trick-or-Treating. I think people should stop Trick-or-Treating when you reach age 13. To me, at 13 years old that should be your last year of Trick-or-Treating.
The first reason i think this is the right age is I think Halloween was invented for kids. Halloween gives kids the opportunity to be wacky and dress how they want. Kids could also hang out with an older sibling or parent. walk around, and get candy. For kids, this day only comes once a year so they need to enjoy it.
My second reason is that when you’re a teenager you have more privileges. And sometimes teens like to do mean things. On Halloween night teens might think it would be funny to hide and scare little kids. Teens would also think it would be funny to steal lots of candy.
My last reason is sometimes parents think it’s inappropriate for teens to Trick-or-Treat. When you’re a teen it’s really close to becoming an adult, so parents will sometimes deny you if you’re a teen and are Trick-or-Treating. Parents might give you a few pieces of candy if you’re walking around with a younger sibling because you deserve it for being responsible.
Overall, I think you should stop when you’re 13. You should stop when you’re 13 because you feel a lot older and you have more opportunities. So, you should do other things like hang out with friends or pass out candy.

Lauren w. Ok so you think we should stop at the age of 13. Well I disagree, I think In my opinion they should stop at the beginning of middle school. Cause when there are 12 they don't want to go and disturb their parents. Than their parents argue with them cause Is either cold or they can't go by themselves. Also If the kids want to have a bunch of candies they can knock on the doors Instead of the parents. Also You said the kids would disturb the parents when they're sleeping. Well Its halloween get It straight. The parent know that It Is Halloween there not that stupid. Why would they go to sleep If the little youngs will knock at their door for candy. I bet they dont even know What’s Halloween Because they have no spirit In Halloween because when they give candy to older kids they won't give It to them unless there little sister or brother begs for extra candy.
Halloween Debate When is it too old for someone to go out trick-or-treating? At the end of elementary, or when you reach your teen years? What about the end of high school? In my opinion people should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school because they are too old, to impolite, and they take candy that should go to the young children who are trying to have a blast getting the delicious halloween treats. Why do I believe that 8 graders are too old to trick-or-treat? For one, it’s a little weird to see one of your classmates or someone you know from school. When you open up the door you think, “Wow you still do this.” Then the next day you see them and you're like, “Wow did I really give you candy last night.” Its a little strange, in my opinion, too see an acquaintance of yours meandering through the streets in search for candy. One more inclination of mine is that when teenagers walk on the streets it could potentially sometimes scare or startle them and bring down the “fun” level of trick-or-treating, especially if these teens aren’t wearing any costumes. One thing that happens as you get older is that you get less respectful to parents and other adults and a lot more disrespectful in general. Sometimes they just ring your doorbell and stand there with bags. Its like they’re saying that they should just get candy because they learned how to operate a doorbell or figured out that when you hit a door with your fist really hard, it actually makes a noise. Once these teens had came up too my door and pounded on it so hard I swear I saw the roof shake. I open up the door they so pleasantly where hitting and they just stand there... without doing anything. One time last year a pair of teens actually stood their for a full 20 seconds with no costume on holding out these pillows sheets. No thank you, I already have enough of those. I ended up closing the door and went back too waiting for some trick-or-treaters. This indubitably got me vexed and whenever this happens, and it occurred an agglomeration of times, those 3 hours of handing out candy were very close to eternal torment. Another halloween and teenager phenomenon that I feel should be addressed is that little kids are more polite than most teenagers I know. They will even say thank you after I give them candy. I just get a nefarious stare from some teens when they get their allotted amount saying, “really, thats all I get.” If this didn't’ happen as often, and I know some people are polite, I would be happy to cast my ballot with thinking that you should trick-or-treat until you are done with high school. But as it stands, I feel that people should stop at their middle school years. The littler kids want the fun as well as the candy. Yet if there are candy craving teens roaming the streets and shoving to get up too the door, I got nothing for them. My family bought that candy for true halloween trick-or-treaters. Teenagers are also old enough to buy their own candy and leave candy too the people who dress up and show respect. If the middle schoolers show up with good attitudes and a nice costume, my candy is their candy. Opinions and beliefs spin as they will. They are powerful tools, when used right and used too the correct purpose. They may change when convinced, or grow stronger if you already believed. Halloween is fun, getting candy, saying, “Trick-or-Treat!”, laughing and playing around, it’s fun for everyone, yet there is always a time when you should think about stopping. I would have to say that kids should stop at the age range of 14. I say that kids should stop at the age of 14 because that’s when we start losing interest in playing the game. They want to go out longer, they want to go out later than usual, kids want to maybe get candy, but they are at the age where they have money and can get their own candy. My first supporting detail is that when I say kids ages 14 and up have money to buy their own candy it normally means that they can just get their own candy. My second supporting detail is when kids want to go out later it usually ends up where they are going home early because there are no houses doing Halloween anymore. For my second reason kids ages 14 and up should stop trick-or-treating is, because if you are older than 14 and want to go to someones house at eleven at night then there should be a certain time when you should go home, I would say eight thirty. My first supporting detail is Jared, he quoted, “I hate it when people come to my house at eleven, ringing the doorbell asking for candy.” My second supporting detail is that it is just too late for people to go out and try to get Halloween candy from people, thats why I say that kids should tick-or-treating at the age range of 14. My final reason for kids to stop trick-or-treating at age 14 is that you are at the age when you might be going off from highschool to college. It may seem confusing but if you think about it some kids really do go from middle school to high school to college really fast. My supporting detail for this is that kids are growing up too fast to really celebrate Halloween, even though they might bring someone with them, they can maybe take a little kid, but I think it would be weird if they were wearing a costume and saying, Trick-or-Treat, getting candy with the little kid. For my last supporting detail, is that kids ages 14 and up should stop Trick-or-Treating, because kids should be becoming more grown up. My conclusion is that kids ages 14 and up should stop Trick-or-Treating, because kids might want to go out longer or later. Kids ages 14 and up are becoming too old to keep trick-or-treating, so why keep going?
My belief is that kids should stop trick or treating sometime in middle school, because it takes away from the smaller kids fun with older kids taking all the candy.
My first point is that we scare younger kids. Also if there are enough of us older kids they might scare off the younger kids because we [the older kids] seem scary to the younger kids and their parents. Plus the parents don’t want to be affiliated with possible hoodlums. My second and foremost reason is that older kids scare off younger kids because we are a lot bigger and typically have scarier masks if we do dress up and if we don’t we just scare the little kids even more because they think that you need a costume to trick or treat. My recommendation is that if you do trick or treat it should be after about 10:00 because you’d get more candy. Also most of the little kids are home and asleep. Plus you won’t have to make as many stops because people will typically hand out more candy later. If you scare the kids because you’re older then the adults may think that you’ll egg their house if they don’t give you candy. The adult may also think that you’re a part of a gang and feel forced to give you candy. They [adults] may also say that you’re too old and not give you candy. My belief was that we should stop trick or treating after middle school. Mostly because we could just buy our own candy at that age.
It is my belief that people should stop trick-or-treating right around the time you get out of middle school. I believe this because you are beginning to gain more responsibility and maturing, . Life in high school is rough, and you have endless things to worry about. You have the pressure of getting good grades, getting enough sleep, having a social life, and the pressure of other students. Buying your Halloween costume or planning your Halloween party should be the last thing on you to-do list. Imagine you’re at home on Halloween and you hear the occasional ringing of the door bell, and answer the door to a sixteen-year-old. A little bit of a sticky situation, right?
I also believe it has to do with a bit of selfish-ness. Think about all the people who are making minimum wage, yet still going out of their way to buy candy. I mean, sure, it was their choice to go out and buy candy, but honestly, who wants to miss out on Halloween night, seeing all the happy faces and the creative costumes? Besides the point, think about all of the little ones going up door to door, only to find out that all of their candy has been taken by a group of teenagers. Imagine the disappointment and sadness.
I believe that people should stop trick or treating around middle school. I think this because in high school halloween parties are more fun, the little kids might night get a lot of candy because all the big kids took it, and because the little kids may feel intimidated if there are a bunch of huge groups of teenagers wandering around.
I would much rather go to a halloween party with all my friends instead of tricking treating on halloween. Most teeneagers would agree with me. Middle school should be the last times you trick or treat in my opinion. At a halloween party, you could still dress up in a costume, be with all your friends, listen to music, and buy a variety of candy to eat.
If I was a little kid trick or treating, I wouldn’t want bigger teenagers yelling stupid stuff and taking all the candy that should be given to little kids. Most teens act stupid when they are in groups and this might intimidate or scare little kids who are excited to gather candy and show off their costumes. If teenagers really want to go trick or treating, I think they should go later at night when there is less candy and less children.
Trick or treating is a holiday for kids. You are usually around 18 when you graduate and 18 is when you are officially considered an adult. Its very strange seeing adults walk around in costumes receiving candy. I believe kids all the way up to the last year of middle school should be able to trick or treat. I am in 8th grade and I have plans to trick or treat this year. I most likely won’t trick or treat next year since I’ll be in high school.
As you can see, I believe people should stop trick or treating sometime during high school. Go to parties, trick or treat later at night, or dont do it at all. These are my three opinions why I think kids should stop trick or treating during middle school.
My belief Is that we should stop trick-or-treating right after middle school. Because most people think that they should stop when they are 14. My first reason Is that people should stop because sometimes they have to take their little sibling out to trick-or-treat. My second reason Is that big kids then take candy and there’s not enough for the little kids. The third reason Is that little kids should be able to trick-or-treat without being scared of the big kids. My first reason Is that people should stop because sometimes they have to take their little sibling out to trick-or-treat. The sibling or little kid should have fun trick-or-treating with their sibling because it’s safer going with a sibling. Being a little kid It’s better to go with a sibling than a friend. Second reason was that big kids then take candy and there’s not enough for little kids. Little kids have to enjoy their trick-or-treating because they are little kids. Younger kids should get a lot of candy so they can eat It all and share It If they want to. My third reason was that little kids should be able to trick-or-treat without being scared of the big kids. Sometimes younger kids are scared at bigger kids because of their costumes. Or just because the bigger kids scare the younger kids. That’s all I think about what age they should stop trick-or-treating. My belief was people should stop trick-or-treating when they are 14. First reason was that people should stop because sometimes they have to take their little sibling to trick-or-treat. Second reason was that big kids take candy and there’s not enough for younger kids. Third reason was that the little kids should be able to trick-or-treat without being scared of the older kids.
My opinion about when to stop trick-or-treating is the end of 6th grade. Why? Because when you finish 6th grade you have to do something your age if you want to. Also Halloween is for kids because kids have to enjoy themselves and collect candy so they can get hyper. Also 14 year old teens have to stay at the house to watch t.v. or something. One reason I think 14 year old teens should not go trick-or-treating is because if 14 yr. old teens go trick- or- treating there’s not going to be enough candy for the little kids. Also 14 yr. old teenagers get enough money, if they work or do something for someone and they can to buy their own candy. If you do want go trick- or- treating then go with a younger sibling and collect candy and you both can enjoy the candy together. My second reason is that when teens go trick or treating and do something inappropriate things like ringing peoples bells and running away. So then the little kids won’t go to the house because they might come again. If the kids see a teenager doing that there is going to be a small chance that the little kids might do that. Third reason is that teens shouldn’t go because they might steal the little kids candy. If they do the little kid is going to cry and tell their parents. Another reason why is because they’re going to hide somewhere and scared the little kids and never go trick or treating ever again. If they do they’re not going to have that much fun in their lives. In conclusion the teens should never go trick or treating and let the kids have some fun in their lives. Never ever ruin a little kids Halloween and their candy because they will get really mad. So what I’m saying is that you should stop and let the little kids have some fun. So when you finish 6th grade you should probably stop trick-or-treating and think about.
I think that children should stop trick-or-treating by some point in middle school because, 1) they should be old, 2) they should be able to represent the older kids in middle school, and 3) show young children we can be more mature and responsible. I believe that children should stop trick-or-treating at some point in middle school because some adults can’t take anymore teenagers knocking on their door for candy, and want younger kids to experience how trick-or-treating is. The other reason why they should stop trick-or-treating is because their costumes are too scary and usually scare the younger kids away.
Then the next thing you know they are running to their homes and saying that they never want to trick-or-treat anymore. So, thats why I think that at some point in middle school teenagers should stop trick-or-treating.
MIddle schoolers are old enough to go to the store and buy themselves some candy or go to some halloween parties where there is candy. I also think that they are old enough to stay home and pass out candy to the little kids that knock on the door to get some candy, instead of going other peoples houses asking for candy. Middle schoolers can even go with little siblings to trick-or-treating.
In conclusion, I think that at some point in middle school children should stop trick-or-treating.
Argument with Lauren W: Lauren I disagree that we should stop at 13 because not all kids are mean and they still have the halloween spirit. Another reason is what if you're adopted and you are supposed to stop at 13 and you have never been before and you don't get adopted till you are 14 then what are they going to do? One other thing what if your parents won't let you go to parties then what are the kids who can't go trick-or-treating and their parents don't hand out candy then what are they going to do? I do agree with you on the part about the older, older kids not trick-or-treating though.
My opinion is that people should trick-or-treat from the start of two to seventeen. one reason it that you're not an adult yet so you can do like adult things. So you have to usually have nothing to do on halloween except trick-or-treat. Another thing is that high schoolers have after school activities or have stuff they have to do. By like sports, helping out,or even hanging out with friends and they could have plans with their family and have to go watch their siblings as the little ones trick-or-treat. And so the can’t trick-or-treat by watching their littles so they can’t go and get candy. Another good reason is that most of them can drive so instead of staying in your town on a non school night you could go and drive to some place. To go see your friends or a good movie instead. And so that they can go and start getting ready for when they're adults so they could buy some candy and pass it out and there parents house. the best reason is that most of them have a job that would or might start or end late at night. and if it doesn't they could use their check to go to the mall or go out to eat with family or friends. And some of the kids might not have a job in their town or the area that they live at. Those are the reason that I really think that kids should start and stop trick-or-treating at the ages two - seventeen.
I think that children should stop trick-or-treating by some point in middle school because, 1) they should be old, 2) they should be able to represent the older kids in middle school, and 3) show young children we can be more mature and responsible. I disagree with you because I think you should still go with your friends for fun on halloween to get candy or not, but 13 is to young i like 16 when you get your driver license so you can get your own and not take any from houses little kids would go to.
Ivan R. although i agree somewhat with you i also have some disagreements . I understand where youre coming from but why make an age limit. . . Are we gonna make an age limit to christmas? are we going to say oh no sorry can't dress up on st patricks day oh okay. “The third reason Is that little kids should be able to trick-or-treat without being scared of the big kids” its halloween . . isn't that the point? When i was little i wasn't allowed to eat all my candy anyway so i think it would be alright if some kids didn't get like 30 pounds of candy you know that would actually be better for the health of the child. First reason was that people should stop because sometimes they have to take their little sibling to trick-or-treat,I mean it is safer to go with your sibling and all but you can still dress up and hold a bag open and say trick-or-treat. Thats still trick-or-treating so. . .? “Second reason was that big kids take candy and there’s not enough f or younger kids. “ Well then the little kids should go out early to get more candy or go to more houses simple as that . When i was little i had my siblings go with me i still got a ton of candy and so did my 15 year old sister. Again it's halloween we should have an age limit on trick-or-treating. But again you do have some valid points.
Shelby B. A.M core Argument with Hannah P: I disagree with you on your quote, " Even if you're passing out candy then you should still dress up to show that you still enjoy the holiday. " I disagree with you because I myself am staying home on Halloween next year, and I would like to be comfortable while waiting for the trick-or-treaters. Not in one of those scratchy, itchy costumes all night, just to answer the door. And why spend your hard earned money on a costume you're only going to wear for maybe two-three hours? Any ways, I believe that the kids don't really mind anyways, they just want their delicious candy.
I disagree with Ivan R. because you’re not an adult until you’re eighteen and until then you're still a kid. I do agree that you should take your little siblings out because it’s safer but why not trick-or-treat with them? It’s safer and you still get some candy. another reason why I disagree is the little kids usually go out early and the bigger kids go out later so their not taking the little kids candy they're just getting the leftovers, but I do agree that the bigger kids shouldn't be scaring the little kids but if the little kids are going trick-or-treating with older kids or adults then I don’t think that they will have a problem with bigger kids scaring them.
Shannon G, Argument with Lauren W: I disagree with you because you are still in middle school at the age of 14. Some people think you are considered a teenager when you are 13 and you shouldn’t do little kid stuff anymore like dress up on halloween and walk around neighborhoods receiving candy. Well, what if you have some sort of disability? Some disabled middle schoolers might really love trick or treating, and they can actually do it unlike some other things. Also, maybe you have had a medical issue and you have been in the hospital for a couple halloweens? I would love to trick or treat if I wasn’t able too for the past couple years. If a kid has cancer and he/she turns 13 they arn’t allowed to trick or treat anymore? That is unfair to me, and I believe that the child should get extra candy for fighting this terrible disease. Most middle schoolers are between the ages 11-14 and I think anyone up to 14 should be able to trick or treat with the exception of disabilities, medical issues, cancers, and probably some other things.
My belief is that at the end of middle school you should stop trick-or-treating. My first reason is you probably have better things to do than walk from door to door asking random people for candy. Some people may play a sport and have a game to go to. Maybe you need to go to the store for food or are out of town. The next reason why is your parents might not let you. There is an age where your parents think you're too old. You might even think you are too old to go trick-or-treating. The last reason is you should hang out with friends. It doesn’t matter what you do but you should hang with friends. Whether you are playing video games, or playing a sport. So as my conclusion I will again say My belief is that at the end of middle school you should stop trick-or-treating.
Cesar A. P.M. Core Argument I disagree with you Jasper O.R. because it is still to old for midlle schoolers.Though I do agree with you that the candy should go to the younger children ,but midlle schoolers can work for their parents by doing chores to get money buy their own candy. They shouldn’t be able to trick-or-treat because the maturity level drops when you get into midlle school so they are more destructive and not as polite as they should be.Another thing is that sometimes people don’t dress up and people wont let them get candy. Also I belive that it is to old because they don’t ask for candy most of the time and don’t reaspect the people at the door. They don’t ask because there not there to politly get some candy ,but just take the candy for them selves. They also arn’t nice to the people at the door by sometimes being rood to the people there.
I disagree that kids should stop at the age of 14 because most of the jobs you have to be 15 or 16 to start a job. So you can’t really earn money to buy your own candy to pass out to people. And mostly I see people trick-or-treating at the age of 16 or 17 and they look like they are having a really good time and the people that the go to don’t really look like they're getting mad they look like oh look people are still having the spirit of trick-or-treating. And usually people start trick-or-treating at the time of 9:00 not ending they usually end at like 11:00 or 12:00. And those are all my opinions that I think people should and can trick-or-treat passed the age of 14 and start at the time of 9:00
Dear Hannah P., I disagree with you Hannah because when i kid is in middle school most of the time they don't dress up to just pass out candy. Some kids think that sense i am older i don't have to dress up. Well you don't because it isn't really like against the law or something it would just show that you are still a kid inside. I agree that that would make a little kid happy just to have seen an older kid still having the spirit towards Halloween and not just like I am more mature than you and saying that the little kid needs to grow up. I just hope that you can back up more of why kids should stop trick-or-treating and not just how it would make younger kids feel. -Kaelin H.
Dear Matthew, I do agree that some 14 year olds should grow up and not scare kids, but not all of them do that. Just because some 14 year olds are immature and scare kids, it does not mean that all 14 year olds should stop trick-or-treating. If somebody is out of middle school and wants to go trick-or-treating, then he should be able to go ( as long as he doesn’t do anything wrong, of course ). I do agree that some kids should not go out on Halloween, but just because some 14 year olds go scare kids, does not mean that the others that are mature and have good spirit shouldn’t be able to go trick-or-treating.
Dear Hannah p. I understand your meaning in your argument however what if I can't take out my little sisters to trick-or-treat next year. I agree that you should dress with your friends if you are going to hand out candy. however I still strongly believe that you should stop in high school in your earlier debate you stated ‘think of the children when they get no candy and you do.’ well most kids don't care when they don't get candy because they know that there are more houses to go to and that there is plenty more candy for them at other houses. Also you make a good point that you get to hang out with your friends and coordinate costumes when you pass out candy with them; however when you pass out candy you have to really watch what you say because of the little kids coming up to your house asking for candy because they can easily hear what you say and repeat it unlike when you are trick-or-treating you are on sidewalk with your friends because most likely other children will be talking about stuff that happened to them that day, what candy they got, etc. and they won't really care what you are talking about. Overall I think that it is best to trick-or-treat and I wish you the best of luck in the rest of our debate.
Dallas O.B. Mr. Masenhimer PM Core October 18, 2012 Halloween What age do you stop Trick Or treating In my own opinion i believe kids should phase out of trick or treating around the end of middle. I believe this do to three reasons the size ,body image ,and lastly Responsibility .These are my 3 main reasons that you will take time reading. For my first reason I tell you with expert analysis that most kids around the 8th grade are worried about body image. making any child with this fear stay home while their friends are out trick or treating. Only because they believe they’re too heavy. That being said this can make lead to and depression and total loneliness. While on the topic of body image the size of kids around the end of middle school comes into play. For most 8th and 7th graders they hit a growth spurt making them tall and more adult looking so costumes that would be fun to be in are now scary looking.for instance if a group of 1st graders go out and 3 large middle schoolers dressed as ghouls or zombies go up for candy. The 1st graders might get scared and run away rouining trick or treating for a younger age group. My last and final point on the age to stop trick or treating is responsibility. Responsibility can change drastically at the end of middle school .For most middle schoolers they may end up with a responsibility of a report due the next morning or taking your little sibling trick or treating. Just little things like these that make trick or treating another task.Which destroys the purpose of trick or treating which is to have fun collecting candy while having fun. After reading my opinion on the age you should stop trick or treating i hope i have changed our own opinion . As you read my belief on the age to stop trick or treating i spoke about body image, size ,and responsibility and their effects on halloween night.
Trick-or-Treat Debate I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school. Why? Because how many elementary kids don’t like to dress up and get candy? Not much. As a middle schooler, I believe that 8th grade should be your last year of trick-or-treating. By the time high school comes around, most of us don’t have the spirit in trick-or-treating like we used to. One reason I think this way is because once you’re in high school, most of us don’t have a reason to go trick-or-treating anymore. When we were little it was so fun to door to door, but after a few years it gets kind of old. Why do high schoolers trick-or-treat now? Because they want free candy? You are almost able to drive. You can almost move into your own house and soon little kids will be knocking on your door. This is their time to go door-to-door now. Not only do I believe that people should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school, but many adults think so too. How many older kids have you seen jump in front of little kids trying to get the “good candy”? Not only is it rude, but it is also not fair. It is fairly obvious that that little girl or boy has been waiting for his turn. Can you agree? Another reason for my belief in this is because as a kid trick-or-treating was for the fun of seeing everybody in different costumes, and dressing up. Now that you’re older, what’s the point? Getting free candy, pulling pranks, or scaring little kids? That isn’t what Halloween is about. I don’t disagree about older kids dressing up and having fun on halloween with their friends, but trick-or-treating isn’t the way to do it.
How old is too old to be trick-or-treating? kenton pm core Mr.Masenhimer
My belief is that around the age of twelve kids should stop Trick-or-treating. My reasons for this are because middle schoolers and high schoolers are taller the elementary schoolers and can scare them. Kids in middle school and high school can vandalise property, and middle schoolers and high schoolers can get to more houses faster than elementary kids. My first reason is that teens are taller, and bigger than the elementary schools. Because of this little kids could be frightened of these tall, and big kids that were bloody and sluty costums. When the little kids get frighten the parents could get very mad at the older kids for scaring the little kids. My second reason is that some teens can vandalize property. when teens go out to trick-or-treat they typically wear black with a mask of some sort. When teens do this some nerves parents and some cops can mistake these teens for robbers or vandals. Now when some people read this on the blog they may think that not all teens are going to robbe people or vandalise and there right. Not all teens are robbers or vandalizers.
My third reason is that teens can get get to more houses in less time than elementary schoolers. Because of this the little kids don't get as much candy as teens do, and besides when little kids trick-or-treat they learn manners like saying thank you after they get candy from someone. My belief is that teens should stop trick-or-treating after the age of twelve because thats when teens start to getting into middle school. My first reason for this is because teens are taller than elementary schoolers. My second reason is that teens in middle school and high school can sometimes vandalize property. And my final reason is that teens can get to more houses faster in less time than kids in elementary school. This is why I think kids at the age of twelve and going into middle school should
I disagree with you because yes some people are 14 when their still in middle school. But they might feel too old. I feel your last year of Trick-or-Treating should be at age 13. I believe this because your an official teen and you should have the opportunity to Trick-or-Treat one last time.
Ivan R. Argument with Ashley P Of course not we're not going to make an age limit to Christmas but I’m just saying that some people should stop trick-or-treating. I just got the idea of stopping at 14 because people actually voted at what age they should stop. Some parents don’t like some kids that are older to trick-or-treat. They think It should be a little kids thing to go out and trick-or-treat. Anyway that’s all I have to say. But You did give out some good reasons why they shouldn't stop at age 14.
Ivan R. Argument with Jacob H. I do agree with what you said but sometimes they can’t go trick-or-treating with their siblings because their friends want to go with them. Sometimes little kids want to go with the older kids like their siblings. Then sometimes the older kids have to go with their siblings because their parents won’t let them go out late. You did have good reasons of what you said. You did caught me off guard there.
I disagree because some middle schoolers and high schoolers like to trick-or-treat as much as elementary schoolers do. Also middle schoolers and high schoolers like to be with there friends and trick-or-treating is a fun way to do that. Lastly you get candy for free but if you or your parents get it from the store it’s not free.
Miguel S. Re buttle I agree with you about the fact that people obviously know it’s Halloween. Yet in my paragraph I clearly said “that teenagers go later and that would disturb adults and younger kids sleeping”. You got mistaken by thinking I said that they went to bed really early and got mad if kids were knocking on their doors. People know better than to go to bed at 6 o’clock on Halloween, but if they go to bed at 10 and kids are still knocking on their doors, they would get irritated. And the only people who would be trick-or-treating that late is teenagers. So that’s why I think you should stop in middle school because teenagers can bug adults, and besides it’s more of a little kid thing.
Jaiden C. Masenhimer AM core To Gavin M (Joining the argument)
With kids over 15 most or some from what I see, seem to enjoy scaring younger kids (more in the middle school ages) so popping out of bushes, dark corners, etc. 14 is a perfect spot to stop since then like you said 15-16 people will probably start getting jobs well those jobs could stay with you till 17 years old so how would they have time to trick or treat maybe they’re working that day so impossible to go out. By then you’d also already have cash for candy. 9 P.M. is a perfect time to stop since in some neighborhoods not all people there want to stay up handing out candy and doorbell ringing constantly. My beliefs in the age and time to stop.
i disagree with a lot of whaat you said but you have a few good reasons i dont thnik it would ruin it or little kids if they dont like it they can go somewhere else so they wont be scared! also we dont take all he candy becasue 1st off they say take one. they dont say take all of it. and how would it ruin it? like come on dude? middleschool? no... i think highschool becasue you can go party with your frannds and have fun. plus i have been tricker treating for many years and theres always a lot of candy.
First of all I meant that kids could buy candy with their allowance. I Know that all kids don’t have one, but that means that they should be able to work for other people or do chores even. Those are ways kids do act towards getting money and I have done it and have seen it happen many times. I will have to agree that I do see kids at the age 16 and 17 having a good time, but usually they're the ones who aren't dressed up and come to your door and just stand their expecting candy. I disagree with that idea of theirs and tell them that they won’t get candy because that is not the Halloween spirit. I know for a fact that their are Halloween parties that they can go to and mess around their. I disagree with your last fact as well because I do get people coming over at 11:00 and 12:00 and that gets very irritating. When there are no lights on that should be a good indicator that those people are done for the night. I hope you will have thought of what I have said and think it through a couple of times, and remember, this is my own personal opinion.
I agree that once you are 13 you are officially a teenager, but I think if you are 14 and still in middle school, you can still trick or treat that year. You don’t have to though if you don’t want to. No one can force you to trick or treat. I think that if you are 14 and still in middle school you are old enough to decide if you want to go trick or treating or not.
I think people should really stop trick-or-treating when they get to middle school. 1)Because you start to grow and be mature. 2) Its kinda weird opening the door to kids your age. 3) When you get to middle school it should be about going out to parties and hang out with your friends.4) T he older you get that later you go out and the later you get home and there might be people that need to go to work the next day. 5) Kids might use the excuses i'm tired, my feet hurt etc. And thats why I think kids should really stop trick-or-treating when they get to middle school.
Shelby B, I disagree you should dress up because it makes the little kids happy. As for the part of the spending well saved money. You could just wear a costume from a year ago or you should take pieces from an old costume, pieces such as wings, wigs, and head bands. At least then you would have a smi-costume. As for the part about the itchy ness of a Halloween costume it wouldn’t be because it is just a few pieces. You could also take it of for when you are hanging out and slip it on only for the trick-or-treaters. Kaitlin H, Its not that I’m not mature I just put others before myself. You better think about it a whole lot more you know why there are people ten times more mature than you. They still dress up to pass out candy. Its not all about you and that’s the way you are coming of as. I think that its just because that you think that you are too cool to dress up, and that is just immature by itself. So suck it up, and care more about others than yourself. Caitlin A, I understand the why you feel the way you do, but still you still if there are 500 teenagers out trick-or-treating then all the houses would soon be out of candy. So its not just the one house its the neighborhood. Last year my mom had to make a run to fred myers to buy more candy. After that we even had to use some of my candy so just don’t do it.

If you agree with her then why did you argue with her? If it was just to get that one point through then I think you wasted your time that could have been used to make a better argument against someone you really disagree with for example if you picked elementary then you could have made an argument with someone that chose high school or vice versa. Besides how many people would adopt a thirteen or fourteen year-old rebellious middle schooler. I mean if you’re an adopted child I don’t think you’ll necessarily be in the proper position to ask anything of the people who adopted you. Plus if someone is adopted I think they wouldn’t even know what trick or treating really is and if they do they probably heard their friends talking about it and their friends most likely would have said that trick or treating is for little kids the adopted kid would most likely take it that way too. There are other things a kid that was adopted might need besides candy and an excuse to stay up late, like shoes that fit better and new clothes. My point out of all of this is if you mainly agree with her then why did you argue in the first place. The reason I responded is because no one argued with me and if you argue against one of us you may as well argue with all of us because we all basically had the same beliefs, by that I mean everyone who picked middle school to stop trick or treating. That was my rebuttal.
I think that after 8th grade you should buy your candy your self because then you can get a job in 9th grade and be 15teen and work at Wendy's and at 16teen you can go to McDonald's and work there but in middle school your not able to get a job so you trick or treat for candy so if you trick or treat in high school your just lazy and need to get your own money your mom or dad don't wont to buy you stuff when you can buy your own stuff and get a job.
It doesn’t matter what you do but you should hang with friends. Whether you are playing video games, or playing a sport. So as my conclusion I will again say My belief is that at the end of middle school you should stop trick-or-treating.
Response too Cesar In my comment I put that when middle schoolers are polite and are wearing a costume, they should be able to get candy. In your comment you put that most middle schoolers have bad manners and don’t dress up. I concede your point but also remember that not all middle schoolers are impolite, although most of them are. You also pointed out that middle schoolers are rude to other kids at the door. This may be true, but keep in mind that their are plenty of impolite elementary students out there as well. My last objection too your comment is that not all middle school students have parents who can give them money for doing chores. High schoolers however can look out and beyond their parents for money.
I agree with the reasons you said but the only reason I don't understand Is that you said Its kinda weird when you open the door to someone that Is the same age as you. Its basicly saying that you're going to open a door that Is your friends and your saying that your friends Is weird cause I bet that you have friends the same age. You also said that they will have parties and hang out with their friends but what If your friends have to leave when their parents assigned a time to come back to their homes. Also If their parents have to go to work they have to go somewhere so someone can babysit them. Their parent are worried If they're by themselves In Halloween. That’s why I said High Schoolers stay out longer In Halloween.
Dear, Alex I agree with you start going to middle school you have more responsibilities, but i still think that elementary kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end the end of middle school. Because they should still have fun while their young. i also disagree with you that the older kids would trip the little kids when their parents are with them, and why would they be creating crimes if their just in elementary school, that would be really insane if that does happen though. Overall I still think that by the end of elementary school you should be able to trick-or-treat with your parents or with your younger siblings.

I am sorry that you had to do that last halloween, but you need to realise that however there are about 500 some odd teenages there aboout twice as many children. You cant blame teen agers without blaming yourself.

Halloween Trick Or Treating
Halloween Trick or Treating
Matthew S.

Halloween Trick-or-Treating

Halloween Debate
When is it too old for someone to go out trick-or-treating?
The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills.

trick-or-treat

What age should kids stop trick or treating?

Halloween Debate
Ivan R.
Roberto A.

Trick-Or-Treating
Argument with Lauren W:
Lauren I disagree that we should stop at 13 because not all kids are mean and they still have the halloween spirit.

Argument with Hannah P: I disagree with you on your quote, " Even if you're passing out candy then you should still dress up to show that you still enjoy the holiday.
Shannon G,
Argument with Lauren W:
I disagree with you because you are still in middle school at the age of 14.

I disagree with you Jasper O.R. because it is still to old for midlle schoolers.Though I do agree with you that the candy should go to the younger children ,but midlle schoolers can work for their parents by doing chores to get money buy their own candy.
Gavin’s argument with Jared F
I disagree that kids should stop at the age of 14 because most of the jobs you have to be 15 or 16 to start a job. So you can’t really earn money to buy your own candy to pass out to people. And mostly I see people trick-or-treating at the age of 16 or 17 and they look like they are having a really good time and the people that the go to don’t really look like they're getting mad they look like oh look people are still having the spirit of trick-or-treating. And usually people start trick-or-treating at the time of 9:00 not ending they usually end at like 11:00 or 12:00. And those are all my opinions that I think people should and can trick-or-treat passed the age of 14 and start at the time of 9:00
Dear Hannah P.,
I disagree with you Hannah because when i kid is in middle school most of the time they don't dress up to just pass out candy.

Dear Matthew,
I do agree that some 14 year olds should grow up and not scare kids, but not all of them do that.
Sincerely,
Derrick S.

Argument from: Caitlin A.

Halloween
What age do you stop Trick Or treating
In my own opinion i believe kids should phase out of trick or treating around the end of middle.
Trick-or-Treat Debate
I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end of middle school.

Of course not we're not going to make an age limit to Christmas but I’m just saying that some people should stop trick-or-treating.

I agree with you about the fact that people obviously know it’s Halloween.

Response to Gavin M.

Rebuttal to Chelsie A.’s argument with Lauren W.
My belief is that at the end of middle school you should stop trick-or-treating. My first reason is you probably have better things to do than walk from door to door asking random people for candy. In my comment I put that when middle schoolers are polite and are wearing a costume, they should be able to get candy.
Argument to Jennifer R

I agree with you start going to middle school you have more responsibilities, but i still think that elementary kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end the end of middle school.
