Cesar A. Mr. Masenhimer 10/19/12 Trick-or-Treat Debate
My thoughts on the age for trick-or treating are that people should stop it by the time of the end of elementary school. My reasons for this are that it is inapropreate for young people to see people that are older in scary and gory costumes. Also for the lack of responsibility of older people. Then for the last belief is that people don’t want to give candy to adolescents. The first reason is that it is inapropreate for younger children to seen teens and adults in more disurbing costumes while out trick-or-treating.It can corupt the way children think while they are with there parents. It also makes parents uncofortable with thier kids seeing them. Another thing is that teenagers are not reasonsible enough to be out trick-or-treating.They are not going to be reasponsible because there parents arn’t there to watch them.It also makes them more likely to do something wrong. The last reason is that most adults don’t want to hand out candy to young adults or teens. They don’t give it to older people because the candy is for the kids ,so that meens there is less of a chance to get candy.Though if you really want candy buy some. To conclude the debate i think that people should stop trick-or-treating at the end of elementary school. It also means that there is more candy for young children.
When should kids stop tricking and or treating? I think that people should stop tricking and or treating at around the end of elementary school. This is my opinion because Trick or treating was made for younger children. If teenagers were walking around in masks people might think they are trying to break into someone's house or store. My first point is children's safety while tricking and or treating. If there are older children out and about while the younger kids are tricking and or treating the younger kids could potentially get injured. Young kids could get tripped over and that is not good. My second point is the concern of teenagers walking around wearing masks. This occurrence could alarm people that witness it. People could mistake the teens for robbers and call the police. If I saw someone besides a little kid walking around with a mask I would think that they might be hiding their faces because they are gonna commit a crime. My final reason why I believe that people should stop tricking and or treating at around the end of the fifth grade is the responsibility that kids have. When you are in middle school there are many more reports and as well as homework to be done. Tricking and or treating could distract students from their school related things. After reading my three reason which are childrens safety, teenagers wearing masks, and responsibility I hope I have helped you decide.
In my opinion, I think that kids should stop trick or treating after elementary school for the following reasons. The first reason I think that kids should stop trick or treating after elementary school is because, halloween is basically a little kid holiday, and when older kids go it ruins their trick or treating experience. The second reason I think that kids should stop trick or treating at the end of elementary school is, because when most older kids go it seems like they were bad clothes for this night such as inappropriate clothes and not wearing a costume at all, but just their normal clothes. My third reason why kids should stop trick or treating after elementary school is, that it would be a step towards growing up. My first reason was, that halloween is basically a little kid holiday and when older kids go it ruins little kids experience to dress up and go trick or treating as a little kid. In my opinion most older kids should just throw a party instead, because that way they can still dress up and still get candy and hang out with friends and not ruin the little kids experience. My second reason was, that most older kids have inappropriate costumes or just go in their normal clothes when they go trick or treating. I think that if most kids don’t wear a costume they shouldn't get candy. Also, when most older kids have an inappropriate costume it might scare little kids and ruin their experience when they go. My third reason was, that it would be a step towards growing up and since most kids don’t want to stop trick or treating they keep doing it until high school. If kids would really want to start growing up they would do things a little more appropriate at their age, like going to halloween parties. In my opinion these three good reasons why kids should stop trick or treating after elementary school. I hope that most people can agree with what I have to say.
I diagree with everyone in this category! if you stop tricker treating during elemnatry school you wont have anything to do! people celebrate haloween to give out candy and if someone my age or in highschool are willing to dress up then the parents should be nice enough to give our candy!
I’m here to debate and say my opinion on which age kids should stop trick-or-treating. I believe that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the beginning of middle school. Reasons why: 1. Kids should stop trick-or-treating at the beginning of middle school, because they start maturing, and become more adult like. 2. Another reason why kids should stop trick-or-treating is because their appeal of it is gonna go away and might as well because thats usually time when they stop believing in santa 3. Also kids appeal is gonna go more into girls/guys they won’t really want to do anything but get out there. 4. Plus when a person is like 16 and they still go trick-or-treating their are kids younger than them that should get some candy too, because more older kids can get around faster than younger kids. 5. And then if you have your kids go around with older kids they may take their candy or may get lost in a crowd of 16 year-olds So if u agree with me then maybe you can rethink your opinion and reconsider it. That is why i think kids should stop trick-or-treating at the beginning of middle school.
I completely disagree with Cesar A. I don't think there's an age to stop dressing up. Although I do admit that there are some adults that don't want to give candy to adolescents, most adults just have fun with them and make them do something embarrassing or funny in front of there friends. I have been trick-or-treating since I can remember with friends, and i have never been turned down candy. There is an age i believe to stop trick-or-treating but never stop dressing up. Halloween is still a holiday no matter how old you are. I agree with you that older kids might scare the little kids. On that note I think that's what Halloween is for, scaring people. Most adolescents would try not to scare kids that were too little. In my opinion it's a responsibility thing.
I like how you state about the older kids being the ones who cause the issues, but why would younger children stop when it’s the older kids. You said “Trick-or-treating should stay for young kids” well then why would they just stop at elementary school then you said it would be weird to see a high schooler well then what if a middle schooler came? I’d say they’re no issues with middle schoolers and little kids shouldn’t quit so soon. The age group you have chosen is giving kids no time to truly have fun, how many times do you get to wear a mask/costume and have fun. Anyways little kids don’t even stay out that late so high schoolers really won’t be out till later from what I see on Halloween , little kids seem to leave earlier (still daylight) and grab some candy, after a small amount of time they go back inside. So maybe middle school would be a better time to stop? Reasons why I disagree with you.
I disagree with Alex R I disagree with him as well. Halloween is the only time of the year you can dress up in cool costumes and walk around and get candy. Ending in elementary school its just too early to stop. And you can get candy for free, scare little kids and adults, and decorate your house all scary and creepy or all cheesy and goofy. Plus you can get your parents or older siblings out of the house if they go with you. And how would you be mistaken for a robber? You’re supposed to kind of act like a robber because you’re all like give me your candy which is a more inappropriate way of saying trick-or-treat but still you’re supposed to take the candy. Plus if you were a robber why would you rob when all these people are still awake and they could tell if you were a robber or trick or treater. And I don’t think it was only made for little kids. It could’ve also been made for older kids (teens) too. And those are some reasons why I disagree with Alex R
I disagree with Alex. Elementary kids still have a lot of spirit and they actually dress up and go out in their costumes and masks and they have polite manners. Now if a elementary kid thinks he/she is just the best and a cocky little thing and have no manners then I think that there should not be any time for them to go out and get other peoples candy for free if they really want candy that bad they will dress up or they can go and find their own at the store and buy it themselves, and also Halloween is meant to be scary and gory and if kids don't like it then they can stay home and it's as simple as that. Parents love to see their own child in costumes and go out and have a good time with their friends and enjoy themselves while they can be young and do this type of stuff.I believe if kids want to go and trick or treat then go do it as long as you dress up and have polite manners.
I believe that this is too young of an age to stop trick-or-treating because they aren’t old enough to go do age appropriate things on halloween besides trick-or-treating. Chances are their parents aren’t going to let them stay out late on a school night so they just decide to go trick-or-treating but it really doesn’t look weird till they are in the 8th grade. Also young kids can’t drive themselves to the store to buy their own candy so this is a cheap way to get all the candy they want. I do though agree with you about how they older the children get the more inappropriate the costumes tend to be but we can’t control what other people decided to wear. These are the reasons why I disagree with Jada b.
Abby, I appreciate you taking the time and writing a post about trick-or-treating. I agree with you that middle schoolers can be mischevious but, I think that they should still be able to go trick-or-treating. I believe that they should enjoy being a kid for a little while longer and dress up and have fun. Yah, they can have parties and what not but I think that they should enjoy being a kid.
I think that teens should be treated the same as little kids as long as they dress up. If they don’t dress up , don’t give them candy. I think that they should be able to have fun.
kyle A. said... I disagree with Alex. Elementary kids still have a lot of spirit and they actually dress up and go out in their costumes and masks and they have polite manners. Halloween Argument In my opinion I think the age that people should stop trick-or-treating is after the end of elementary school. I believe this is because middle schoolers and high schoolers are disrespectful, the holiday is intended for little kids, and now of days the costume selection is ridiculously gory and bloody. My first reason is that middle schoolers and high schoolers are disrespectful to people. How are they disrespectful? First of all they scare people’s little kids for no complete reason. Second of all some of them don’t even bother to dress up or follow any of the actual traditions of trick-or-treating, they just want some candy. Third of all they think it’s funny to destroy people’s property and pull pranks on innocent people. Last of all they have no respect for people’s time because they stay out trick-or-treating for way after then what they should be. For my second reason I had said that the holiday was intended for little kids. The reason I say this is because little kids don’t have privileges like middle schoolers and high schoolers so they don’t get candy whenever they want. Another reason why I believe that this holiday is intended for kids is that they’re not old enough to go out by themselves so they know that their parents would have to take them out so it’s sort of a family bonding experience. For my last and final reason I said that costume selection has a big deal to do with what age people should stop trick-or-treating. One reason why I say this is because the older kids pick out and wear more violent and gory stuff that scare the little kids. Another reason why I say this is that the gory stuff ruins it for the little kids because they don’t want to turn the corner and be having a grim reaper staring at you as creepily as they can. My last reason why I say this is because nobody wants to open their door and see a middle schooler or high schooler in a really disgusting or/and inappropriate costume and want to give them candy. That is why I believe people should stop trick-or-treating by the end of elementary school. Middle schoolers and high schoolers are disrespectful, the holiday is intended for little kids, and the costume selection. Those reasons are the absolute reason why I think that elementary kids are the only ones who should trick-or-treat.
My beliefs about trick-or-treating is that most kids should most likely fade out at mostly the end of elementary school. My first reason is that middle schoolers are more mischievous than little kids and could ruin it for the first timers. Second, elementary school kids usually have way more amusement in dressing up and going around town than sitting at home watching a movie and handing out candy. Third, some middle and high schoolers could think its funny to go around and scare little kids.
Going into depth about my first reason, middle schoolers can be more disrespectful by going around and doing practical jokes that could be considered vandalism. Also while being in middle and high school there would probably be better things to do like hang out with friends and go see a movie. Or you could help out a younger relative and take them trick-or-treating.
Second of all, elementary kids would have more amusement in dressing up and going out to get tons of candy. Also trick-or-treating could be considered a privilege for some kids because they might not be able to have candy often, or see their friends much. Trick-or-treating is also an interesting event because the kids could help decorate the house.
Finally, while people grow up they could find it entertaining to scare little kids. They could dress up in something disturbing to the younger kids and that would make them not want to trick-or-treat ever again.
Trick-or-treating should stay for young kids because it would be very weird to open your door and see a high schooler standing there asking for candy.
My opinion on trick or treating is that you stop at when you are at the end of elementary school. The reason I think this is because once you get into middle school you are becoming more mature and you are getting a little too old for trick or treating. The reason you should stop trick or treating is because you are getting way too old to trick or treat. When a little kid sees a high schooler or middle schooler they get scared and you would ruin the tradition for someone you don't even know. When some weird kid comes to your house in the middle of the night and ask for candy I think I want to say he is not going to get any. For all those teenagers out there that go trick or treat you should only be accompanying a younger sibling. Not playing ding dong dich. alright kids who go out late you should not be out later than 2:00 am. If your are out late and being a nuisance you could get arrested. In some towns you can’t be over 12 and be out trick or treating it is against the law. In the end you are still too old and should not be out trick or treating. you should also not be out late. Also don’t be that one weird kid that is in high school or middle school that tries to scare little kids and ruin halloween for them. Now I hope you can see why you should stop at the end of elementary school.
I believe that kids should stop trick or treating when they finish elementary school and become middle schoolers. I think because it shows maturity and responsibility. My second reason is that it is putting a burden on your parents by staying out late. My final reason is that kids should stop trick or treating is that to some people it is impolite to have these older kids coming to their door and saying trick or treat, so i would show respect to the people who generously give out candy. Maturity and responsibility show how you have respect for other peoples households. When you are responsible you can get more respect by parents. Maturity has it’s affects on whether trick or treating is an appropriate thing to do when you are older than 10-11 years old. Trick or treating shows that you still are very kiddish and still need to grow up. Trick or treating is the decision of the kid to just go from door to door asking parents( most likely with kids) for candy just one time a year. Some people might believe sense it is just once a year everyone gets the right to do it but, there has never been an age limit. When you go trick or treating and you are older you normally don't go with your parents and by not going with your parents it puts a burden on them and how they have to go pick you up at whatever time at night that you are finished getting your candy. It makes your parents have to worry about you not to get kidnapped (because I believe that Halloween is one of the most dangerous time of year for people to get kidnapped). By going to peoples houses when you are out of Elementary school they sometimes think that you are just out trick or treating to scare adorable little kids. The people that give out candy don't always expect someone of an age older than Elementary school to come to their door saying trick or treat and, I think it is more polite to the people who live in that neighborhood when you don't go to their house super late. So I think that it is more polite when you don’t go trick or treating at an age over 10-11. Now that I have stated my opinion on what age should kids stop trick or treating i hope people take it as a consideration and not a demand.

I disagree with Geo V. your first reason was that kids should stop trick-or-treating at the beginning of middle school because they start maturing, and become more adult like. Some people still want to go to trick-or-treat even In middle school. You gave a good reason why they should stop because they become more adult like but like I said some still want to trick-or-treat. Your fifth reason was that older kids might take candy from younger kids and also might get lost In a crowd of 16 year old. That’s why older kids should go trick-or-treating to take care of their younger kids. But you gave good reasons why they should stop at the beginning of middle school.
Dear, Alex I agree with you start going to middle school you have more responsibilities, but i still think that elementary kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end the end of middle school. Because they should still have fun while their young. i also disagree with you that the older kids would trip the little kids when their parents are with them, and why would they be creating crimes if their just in elementary school, that would be really insane if that does happen though. Overall I still think that by the end of elementary school you should be able to trick-or-treat with your parents or with your younger siblings.

Rebbutle: I disagree with Breyanna B In my first debate comment, I said that kids should stop trick or treating after elementary school, my reason for this is that most kids are starting to go to middle school and once you go to middle school you can attend to the middle school dances or just throw a party at your house. I think that some kids can stop trick or treating at seventh grade at the latest but in my opinion kids should start moving towards a little more grown up activity to do on halloween.
Kyle A., My rebuttal to your comment about Alex's comment didn't make much sense. I agree with how little kids (in 5th grade) still dress up and go trick-or-treating- I just don't agree or believe that there is many cocky little kid (elementary kids) that are going out and scaring kids younger then them. When you are younger you have the most spirit (and are like in LOVE with candy well most) of the time. When you are in middle school you are more cocky then a little kid. Older kids have more of the excitement of scaring little kids (which isn't nice) but when you went out when you were younger you might have been easily frightened and they didn't make anything better. So to rap it all up i agree that kids will dress up most of the time when they are younger. disagree with you and how you stated that little kids are cocky. -Kaelin H.
Juliette J. My opinion is that kids should stop Trick or Treating after elementary school because older kids tend to scare smaller kids, Halloween is for children to enjoy with their parents, and teenagers should have enough self-control to not need candy and be respectful to parents handing it out. Littler kids such as k-fifth graders are just out to have fun and enjoy Halloween while their parents still let them participate in the holiday. Then when they go out hoping for fun and candy and then they see a teenage boy dressed in a creepy outfit, they get freaked out and want to go back home. High schoolers should be able to just get their own candy. Part of the fun of parenting is taking your kid to do cool things. Halloween is one of those fun activities that should stay between a parent and their child. After elementary school kids don’t usually ‘stick’ to their parents as much as they do when they’re younger. So trick or treating is a childish activity. Teenagers should not go trick or treating at all but when they go anyways, they usually go much later and then the parents get irritated because they’re still getting knockers and bell ringers at 10:00. That is disrespectful and high schoolers should just get their own candy. In conclusion kids should stop trick or treating after elementary school.

Mariah, first of all, thank you for taking the time to type a rebuttal to my statement. I compliment you on your ability for good reasoning, but I must disagree on some points. For example, where you said “If they don’t dress up, don’t give them candy”. That is a good statement and I do agree, but if a middle school kid walks up in a costume that seems like there wasn’t too much effort put into it, would you give them candy? Or would you rather give the child that is dressed in a costume that has true time and effort in it? I don’t know about you, but I would give it to the child that actually tried. Instead of the one that showed up in a half costume asking for candy.
I disagree with your opinion on Trick-or-Treating. I believe that children should try to get a couple more years in their lives for a little something to remember. First of all I will agree on child safety, but normally in elementary school the kids’ parents are standing nearby to watch and pay close attention to their children. They are right by them the whole time. I think that there should be enough supervision over their own children to keep them safe. Therefore the children can have a good few more years to finally be tired of Halloween. Normally that age group of kids need something entertaining before their transition into the older years. My second reason is to reflect back onto the fact that older kids can’t be trusted. That is not true. I get the idea of suspicion if a high schooler wears a mask to a store or something that someone might be a little worrisome or afraid, but on Halloween it is expected from a load of people. I also get the fact that middle school or higher grade people might get a little rough and might trip over a little kid. That I don’t think is ok, but normally middle schoolers are out Trick-or-Treating a little bit later after the elementary kids go to bed. Yes, I have seen this happen many times. For a final reason I do agree that school work could potentially get in the way of Halloween, but if it was due earlier, than it’s that person's fault. Now I do understand that unexpected work does come up now and then and that could get in the way of things, but if that kid wants to Trick-or-Treat that bad, it’s there own responsibility to get that done. I hope you consider what I have said and reply back shortly for more details or information that you would like me to consider.
Alex R Rebuttal against: Everyone who disagreed with me I have no idea where to even start. It is very clear that my opinion was read incorrectly. Many of you are making arguments against things I did not even say. For example Yazmin U said "I also disagree with you that older kids would trip the little kids when their parents are with them" I never said that older kids would trip the younger kids, I said that if parents let their teens walk around trick or treating the teens are going to be running into and tripping over the little kids that should be trick or treating. Yasmin also said "and why would they be creating crimes if they're just in elementary school" I never said that kids in elementary school would be committing crimes, I did say that teenagers wearing masks could easily commit crimes and they would not be able to be identified.
Kyle A, as Kaelin said your argument against my opinion did not make much sense. Kyle A says "I disagree with Alex. Elementary kids still have a lot of spirit and they actually dress up and go out in their costumes and masks and have polite manners" I never said that elementary kids don't have spirit, nor did I say that they didn't dress up. You misunderstood my whole entire opinion, please reread my opinion and don't judge something before you fully understand it.
Jason L said " and they could tell if you were a robber or a trick or treater" this is not true, on the Halloween of 2010 in Pantego three teens dressed in Halloween costumes pulled out guns at a high school Halloween party and robbed more than twenty students. Witnesses say they were mistaken for partygoers among all the costumes, granted they were not trick or treating it still proves that you cannot tell the difference between someone just trying to have fun and a someone who is a criminal when they're wearing costumes and masks. I know I didn't mention all of the people who argued with me, but I did try to acknowledge as much of them as I could. I hope this rebuttal clears up any misunderstandings that anyone had regarding my opinion.
I completely disagree with Alex R. I can’t imagine that a 6th grader has to hand out candy to a kid who is just 1 year younger. Also the whole little kids getting hurt, a 5 year old could accidently trip someone just like a 6th grader. Safety doesn’t really have to do with age in this situation. Just ‘cause they left elementary school doesn’t mean they aren’t still kids.
Cesar A. P.M. Core Rebuttal Dear Tyler H., there sould be an age were you have to stop becausse then you don’t have teenagers at you do with little maturity just wanting free candy. Then it would also mean that people won’t have to give things that they pay for to people who can by it themselves at any time of the year. Also when people scare other people espcialy kids they could have nught mares and that could cause parents a hard nightand mabey make it uncomfortable for kids to trick-or-treat.On that point it is reasonsibility to go out and do things but in a kind manor.
I disagree with Matt F. Kid shouldn't stop trick or treating by the end of elementary they have trick or treated like twice in their life they need to experience Halloween more than once.
Most kids never try to scare little kids and if they do they are surly not mature. and as I said in my opinion I believe that when you are old and have kids you will want to tick or treat with them. But I agree kids shouldn't be out later then 2 AM playing ding-dong ditch but most people only give candy out till like 9 PM and shut their lights off and go to bed.
I totally disagree about the age group he said I think its way too young for the most part, because you can't drive to a candy store or a dollar tree and that will be wasting another person’s time. This is the time where you can wear your masks for once. how many times a year do u get to wear a mask? And i'm pretty sure you can tell the difference between a person who is dressing up or going to break in a house. Yes responsibility is important but it not all about school you can still have fun too. Those are the reasons why i disagree with Alex R.
Lauren W. I disagree with everyone in this section. Elementary school is a little too early to stop trick-or-treating. If you think about it, when you were younger and in elementary school you probably looked forward to trick-or-treating on Halloween with your friends. If you go with your friends in your neighborhood you could still have a lot of fun. I think middle school is an appropriate time to fade out of trick-or-treating unless if you are chaperoning for younger kids.
(I’m arguing with Alex Rosa)Another reason why I believe kids should stop after high school is because high school kids should have fun getting candy and scaring people. It cant just be elementary school kids and middle schoolers just having all the fun getting all candy and freaking everybody out,it should be high school kids should be able to do that to. And another thing that gets on my nerves is that why do kids have to go home so early I think kids should go home at 9:00 or 10:00, so that they have time to get extra candy. This is my reason why kids should not stop trick-or-treating in elementary school.
Ryan H. Mr. Masenhimer 10-24-12 Trick-or-Treat Debate
Tyler H, I know you didn’t directly disagree with me but I completely disagree with you disagreeing with Cesar because of the last three sentences of your disagreement post. I do not think high schoolers are very responsible. They are rude and disrespectful and do not know how to treat strangers. They ruin the fun for little kids by scaring them. That may leave no fun for them in trick-or-treating but that’s why they should have parties. High schoolers are not responsible in many other ways too. They think it’s funny to prank people by throwing eggs at their houses or by putting toilet paper all over them. That is why I disagree with you disagreeing with Cesar. High schoolers are just not very responsible on Halloween.
Rabuddle against Alex I don't understand why you might think that people may get suspisious about teenagers having on mask. I mean its a time where people go out and try to look scary and dress up as weirdos and other intresting people. I mean its obvious to me when people are real burglurs and are trying to break into peoples homes and take all of their belongings but, what i do agree with you is that you never know if someone is going to do that, for all we know they could be the nicest person on the planet but they could be the ones trying to break in and make crime, anyways the thing that i don't agree with you about is that people should stop trick or treating by the end of elementary school, but i guess we all have our own opinions.
Jada B, I disagree with most of your argument, although i do agree with a few things you are saying. For instance I agree with the fact that some older kids wear more inappropriate costumes or otherwise no costume at all. I would also agree that trick-or-treating is a little kid activity, but dressing up and trick-or-treating is good to help keep young. I would say to continue trick-or-treat after elementary school because some people try to grow up too quickly and it is good to help them stay young while they can. I believe that elementary school is far too young to stop because it is a very enjoyable experience for all ages. When it comes to ruining the little kids experience by the older kids costume i would disagree with that because i always enjoyed seeing the older kids costumes because they were very creative.
Juliette J. rebuttal against Breyanna B. who argued against Jada B
First of all you said that I believe that this is too young of an age to stop trick-or-treating because they aren’t old enough to go do age appropriate things on halloween besides trick-or-treating. Can’t middle schoolers celebrate Halloween in a different way than trick or treating but still have it be age appropriate? Things like age appropriate parties, or they could go tricking instead of treating and have fun with that (while still being respectful). You said “I believe that this is too young of an age to stop trick-or-treating because they aren’t old enough to go do age appropriate things on halloween besides trick-or-treating.” Parents should be able to supply candy for parties or activities besides trick or treating. I believe kids should stop trick or treating after elementary school.
I disagree with Kaelin H In your post you said, “I think because it shows maturity and responsibility.” I disagree. Just because someone stops trick-or-treating means they’re mature and responsible. I believe if they went out and were polite and nice that that would show more maturity and responsibility. You also put “When you are responsible you can get more respect by parents.” Like I stated above, being by yourself and not causing trouble would actually get you more respect. “When you go trick or treating and you are older you normally don't go with your parents and by not going with your parents it puts a burden on them and how they have to go pick you up at whatever time at night that you are finished getting your candy. It makes your parents have to worry about you not to get kidnapped.” I am confused on this part. During halloween there are about a bajillion people walking around the streets. Unless you take a “shortcut” you should be fine. My brother who just got into middle school plans to go out trick-or-treating for the last time. He is 11 and, in my opinion, is actually still not too old too go. He causes no burden too my parents and he doesn't cause my parents worry because he goes with people my parents trust. As long as your parents have good judgement and confidence in their judgement, there should be no worry.
I disagree with you Alex because the kids should still have some fun until the end of 6th grade. The reason why is because they are still young and still be able to trick-or-treat even though they might have to go treat or treating with a young sibling. My other reason is about the kids safety. Their safety is going to be okay because they’re going to go with an adult. Another reason is that teenagers need to have some fun until they enter 7th grade. If teens were mistaken as robbers which will never happen is collect candy and eat it so they can enjoy it. There’s no reason teens could be mistaken for robbers at all. If they were then they can tell the police that they’re trick or treating.
But,on one part I agree with you. When you said that they have homework to do but,I think they’re not going to get homework because it’s a holiday and they shouldn’t get homework at all. It won’t be distracting to the kids because the teacher might say that, “How was Halloween kids” and all they’re going to do is talk about Halloween. Like: what costumes did you guy’s wear? and so on. That’s the reason you might be wrong.
halloween rebel I agree with spencer when he is talking about maturity but the argument goes out for the kids that do scare kid and the ones who just keep ringing the doorbell over and over again. Also trick or treating comes every year so they don’t only go twice they up to middle school to do it. I also agree that once you are old and have kids but I will only be in grade school.
Rebutle I disagree with all of you because when people reach the end of elementary they haven't mature enough and some of them may still want to trick or treat. Most kids in 5th grade haven't even matured enough to have a conversation with an adult. My sister still loves to trick or treat and she it in 5th grade, she probably will trick or treat next year to. What i am trying to get across is 5th graders haven't even matured so let them trick or treat i’m pretty sure you trick or treated in 6th grade.
I acknowledge your reasons but I disagree with you because I don't think that kids are going to stop getting candy because of us in high school or middle school I mean they are just not getting one piece of candy I think that they will survive with out one piece of candy. I do agree with you about some kids have disturbing costumes but not all the kids have disturbing costumes I think that kids and some kids actually help parents like for example.some kids actually go out and they trick or treat with their brothers and that helps their parents if they are working and if they have to do something else what if there was only little kids trick or treating in that case their moms would have to be with them at all times. my last reason is I think that you are very wrong on the fact that the little kids are not going to get candy because of the big kids because its not like some people have told them were out of candy I know that at least someone has told them hey we're out of candy and if that does happen hey life goes on its like you are going to die that was my argument with cesar. A
I completely disagree with cesar A because some people still want to and they should not half to end of Elementary and there is not a age when some kids should stop.there is not a time or day when you should so i say you should stop in one point in high school because that is what they think about it and we do not control their mind. It's kind of rude when someone says that you are a little kid and that is first grade and that is that so i respect your idea about the debate but you got your idea’s and i got mine but i half to say you are wrong about you should stop at elementary because their still is middle and there a hole lot to do before you go to college and they should have some fun.
My second reason is that they still have their life before they become a grownup and well we both got different ideas but you are wrong but everybody has a different idea about this idea and well everyone that says you should stop in one point in highschool and well we are a team and we got are super awesome idea and that is what i think.
My last reason is high school is different than elementary because the time is way different in so many ways like the time and when do they go and the time so they start early and end early and high school starts late and end late so they are not the same. That was my last reason about disagreeing with cesar A and that is my reason.
I completey disagree with you Cesar A because all you say is’nt all true. My first reason of disagreeing with you is because not all people will wear gory costumes, and Halloween is suposed to be scary or else there would be no fun because or else Halloween would not be fun and it probaly wouldnt be a national Holiday worth celebrating and probaly wouldnt be worth celebrating and besides how can a simple costume corupt a childs mind, if the kids parents have a problem with the “Scary” and “Gory” then they should’nt let there Trick-or-Treat . My second reason is it may be true that some Adolcents may be very rude and unresponsible dos’nt make every single teenager unresponsible, think about the people who are responsible who wont cause any mayham or distruction. My third and final reason is that I know some people wont accept older Trick-or-Treater’s but they are some peolpe who do accept and enjoy giving older students and adults candy.and this is my arguement with Cesar A.

Trick-or-Treat Debate
Reasons why:

I disagree with Alex R
I disagree with him as well.
Breyanna B
I disagree with Jada b.

Argument
Ryan H.
Halloween Argument
In my opinion I think the age that people should stop trick-or-treating is after the end of elementary school.
Abby L.
Matt F.
Kaelin H.
By going to peoples houses when you are out of
Elementary school they sometimes think that you are just out trick or treating to scare adorable little kids.

Dear, Alex
I agree with you start going to middle school you have more responsibilities, but i still think that elementary kids should stop trick-or-treating at the end the end of middle school.

In my first debate comment, I said that kids should stop trick or treating after elementary school, my reason for this is that most kids are starting to go to middle school and once you go to middle school you can attend to the middle school dances or just throw a party at your house. I think that some kids can stop trick or treating at seventh grade at the latest but in my opinion kids should start moving towards a little more grown up activity to do on halloween.
Kyle A.,
My rebuttal to your comment about Alex's comment didn't make much sense.

I agree with Breyanna about kids not being able to go and buy their own candy, but if you are the one throwing the party you should tell your parent before so you can go to the store and pick out what is needed for the party.

Rebuttal against: Everyone who disagreed with me
I have no idea where to even start.
Argument
Alex R.

Dear Tyler H.,
there sould be an age were you have to stop becausse then you don’t have teenagers at you do with little maturity just wanting free candy.

Trick-or-Treat Debate
Rabuddle against Alex
I don't understand why you might think that people may get suspisious about teenagers having on mask.
When it comes to ruining the little kids experience by the older kids costume i would disagree with that because i always enjoyed seeing the older kids costumes because they were very creative.

who argued against Jada B
I disagree with Kaelin H
In your post you said, “I think because it shows maturity and responsibility.” I disagree.
Roberto’s argument to Alex R.
Dear Alex,
I disagree with you Alex because the kids should still have some fun until the end of 6th grade.

I agree with spencer when he is talking about maturity but the argument goes out for the kids that do scare kid and the ones who just keep ringing the doorbell over and over again.
Also trick or treating comes every year so they don’t only go twice they up to middle school to do it. I also agree that once you are old and have kids but I will only be in grade school.
Rebutle
I disagree with all of you because when people reach the end of elementary they haven't mature enough and some of them may still want to trick or treat.
