8th Grade Reading: Darfur Now

As you may know, in reading class we are currently doing a novel study over the book Night by Elie Wiesel.  While the Holocaust may be relatively new for some students, they have been engaging in thought filled discussions and have dealt with the harsh content matter in a very mature and open fashion.

One of the issues that the students have raised is: How do we prevent such mass genocide from ever occurring again?  While I am not suited to answer such questions, nor would I be able to, it is a relevant question.  However, the world is not void of genocide, and Darfur is evidence of that.  The documentary Darfur Now (2007), shows a gripping insight in the tragic genocide and the work of six individuals who have taken a role in trying to stop the killings at the hands of the Janjaweed militias.
